I agree with donnomar. If they suddenly asked you to take the preliminary test then just DO IT! Their money, their rules.

It sounds to me like you're trying to create a "far-reaching conspiracy" because Randi knows that you have REAL superfantastical powers. I doubt it.

I once sent Alison Smith a letter, one that had nothing to do with the 1M challenge, and her response was "all-knowing" and arrogant -- something that's common among many skeptics. James Randi's pretty cool though.

The email in question is actually published on Randi's site, the JREF Forum. Alison Smith posted it herself not knowing that the lie would be exposed by someone's videotape later on.

There are also other deceptive emails that will soon be published! This is just the beginning!

There's nothing deceptive about the email by the sounds of it.

"We (meaning the foundation) do not allow anyone to skip the test"

Of course they can't alter the rules determined by James Randi, the don't have the legal authority, but, this doesn't preclude Mr Randi, as the head of the foundation from waiving the the rules as and when he feels like.

Moreover, this is called a "unilateral" contract, provided you haven't already entered it, they can change the terms as they wish.

No, a few hours earlier Randi waived the challenge, Alison may have been there, but it was Randis decision.

The "we" in the email was the alison and the foundation. Who do not have the authority of Randi himself.

It sounds like Randi offered an exemption to the normal policy. You are vague about the email. Exactly when was it sent, and did Koenig specify that he was accepting the DragonCon offer? They probably get wacky emails all the time and reply with the standard rules.

Bottom line is that Randi has never signed his challenge & never will: No person or institution has passed the arbitrary "preliminary" test & no one ever will, even though there have been many researchers at labs throughout the world who have published peer reviewed results of studies that contradict Randi's null hypotheses. Using the same terms as Randi does for his phony challenge, I've offered $1000 to anyone for proof the psychic challenge is a valid offer. So far no takers. It's a hoax.
