The blades are made to connect together hence it's name. There are actually originally six, but it takes time sand a lot of effort to make this blade.

From a realistic metalurgy stance, the weapon in it's full mechanics are impossible to recreate accurately. In order to do this even somewhat realistically, you'd nearly need to double the parts in order to achieve the same look, and even then the probability it'd stand upto anything greater than a bush(provided you could lift it) is slim.

somebody needs to figure out how to make the real thing exactly...some dude analyzed all the AC fight scenes frame by frame and figured out how the sword works, so how much longer till someone makes it?...the hilt has like hinges and locks and shit to change the shape for each stage of the sword, and the base sword even has a spacer thing down the fuller or whatever to open up so the other swords fit in place...makes more sense than havin lil knobs stickin off that get in the way when unhooked
