i am not a fan of F1 but this film was all i needed for senna it wasn't just driving it was more there will not be another like him. he took the risks and he knew what could be the outcome. the most shocking thing just before the race he knew something was going to happen but never backed out never gave up on the real sport. i just wanted to express myself and if u have read it up to hear i am very happy
i watched that yesterday. The most epic movie that i have seen in my existence, i don't watch movies but watching the life span of Ayrton was superbly chilling to the spine. I could see the car going into the Monaco's streets, Angry arsehole Balestre and a genuine Prost. RECOMMENDED TO ANYONE EVEN IF YOU'RE NOT IN F1
'There is alot to do, alot to learn, alot to do...but I have plenty of time' - Haunting words, perhaps a message for all us to seize those moments in life and really live.
Ok so now the Bafta Shortlist is out its down to three:-
Best British Film, Best Editing and best Documentary.
Still a massive achievment!!!!!!!!!!! For a doc to be nominated for best film is practically unheard of and for that doc to be about formula one really shows the reach of Ayrton.
couple of things.. i NEVER thought i'd watch a F1 movie and actually like it and now the unthinkable..............and actually cry at the end.....and I never cried for one..... un.....bel....ievable
If you're a sports fan, the documentary Senna is required watching. Incredibly well done film about an incredible sportsman. Captivating from start to finish!
The ending of this movie really brought me to tears. 'Who was your favorite rival?" I was expecting him saying Prost or Mansell, or anyone else... except the one he answered. Really gave racing a new meaning for me.
@MrJamjam87 probably because it was considered too commercially successful for a documentary. Of course, this is only a good thing when it comes to the best film category - typical Hollywood horseshit. The politics there are as bad as F1's...
@hessel192 1- Ayrton Senna 2- Jim Clark 3- Juan Manuel Fangio 4- Alain Prost 5- Niki Lauda 6- Jackie Stewart 7- Stirling Moss 8- Nelson Piquet 9- Gilles Villeneuve 10- Michael Schumacher Most of people would ask "how can you place Schumacher in 10th position?" As far as I can see, Schumacher would NEVER be 7 WC if it wasn't for: 1- Senna's death. 2- Briatore's cheats. 3- Best car for 5 straight years (and no extraordiary rivals in 4 of those 5, he raced alone). 4- Ross Brawn.
Not to start a war of the best but Many many people actually believe that Gilles Villeneuve was the fastest ever in racing. He was doing things you had not seen before or since. He almost broke the laws of physics at time. Senna off course as way better stats and as a legend status with everything that surround his life but I think Gilles was the craziest fastest ever. Racing with cars 100-150 less power and still competing. Lots of pros ackowledge him as the best pure racer
@HiggsPat Yeah, Gilles was indeed one of the best. But the majority of the pros, team bosses enfineers and all kinds of specialists say that Senna and Clark were on a class of their own. They dominated a machine like no other.
And, as lots of polls involving drivers and people like I mentioned shows that Senna, in their view, was the best of them all.
The accolades just keep on coming, I knew a movie about the most flamboyant and iconic Formula 1 driver of all time would be powerful. Truly phenomenol!
I'm not one to be made emoitional easily but this film was something else, i've never experienced anything like it. That scene of Mansell and Senna at Catalunya wheel-to-wheel is probably one of the most iconic moments in Formula One of all time.
This was an amazing film, I barely knew who Aryton was before watching this film, I cried at the end of the movie. I think getting revenge on Prost was a good thing, I applauded him for it, I am not sure why the world hated him for it. Best film of 2011!
This is easily the best film that I have ever seen in my life, I am only 15 but it really hit me how much he was admired, I know I was born 2 Years to the day after he died, but he is my idol, his whole way of thinking is the best of any human I have ever heard, he knew his risks, and watching this I was reduced to tears, it is a beautiful film about perhaps one of the greatest people to have ever lived xx
@CTTV101 there were millions just lining the streets of Sao Paulo mourning his death and millions more around the world, so no, you were definitely not alone...many continue to mourn his death almost twenty years later because he was a truly great human being - an inspiring archetype of living life to the fullest in every sense.
I'm disgusted how Jean-Marie Balestre and Alain Prost were in this movie. I'm French too, but throw politics and nationality out the window! They're both self-centered assholes. I don't remember too much F1 when I was younger. I was only 1 when Senna died. But now I know why he was the best even the Schumacher has the most championships. When Shummy was winning it was as if the Ferrari team was unbeatable but Senna FOUGHT for he's races and without ELECTRONIC AIDS
Yesterday I watched a documentary about Senna. Of course I heard about him before, but I didn't know much about him. This documentary showed that he was a inspiring and amazing person, who didn't deserve to die at such a young age. In my opinion F1 was fascinating in the time of Senna. R.I.P.
R.I.P Ayrton meu herói, nunca iremos esquecer de você
ayrton is one of the greatest drivers of all time he was also probably one of the most kind hearted humans ever to live it was such a tragedy at san marino 1994 to see such an all time legend die in an horrific crash. this film is absolutly outstanding in every way
R.I.P Ayrton Senna you will never be missed xxxxxx
@RS125JOE "you will never be missed" ?? No mate, either 'truly missed' or 'never be forgotten', you just undermined your whole statement with your finishing line. lol classic

cant wait to get this looks great never knew much about senna so dont hate for this but near end what does he mean by last time either of them would be on the podium? i know one is senna whos other guy
@bcacba What he means is, Ayrton joined Williams in 1994 & never finished a race, the car let him down. The three on the podium are Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna & Damon Hill. Senna crashed & died, whilst Prost retired after that race at Adelaide.
Respond to this video... Anytime pistoninurass! on any track,in any circuit! I feel sorry for you man. Please make us all a favor ..You need to curl up and die now.
Pure driving pistoninurass, not pure technology. pure racing pistoninurass! MS is sure a legend. But a Senna will never be. pistoninurass.
Senna was the best ever....I remember watching him...Formula One at this time was fantastic...Senna, Mansell, Prost....all great drivers but Senna was the most gifted....
@pistonpiig three world champions idiot, + the fact is that even michael schumacher agrees he was the best driver that ever lived i highly doubt there will be that many people at your funeral
I didn't actually know a lot about Senna himself before I watched the film, all I knew was that he was a legendary driver, cut tragically short in his prime by the accident that I think we all knew about one way or another.
But I think the fact that when asked "What was the best race you ever had?" and he replied that it was in his karting days, when there was none of the 'adult world' of politics, rules and regulations and technology- just the bare racing - that really said it all.
I'll be honest, I found Senna to be quite dissapointing. It seemed like the movie expected you to have watched Formula 1 in the 80's. I haven't and was quite confused during much of the film. Really, I think the documentary missed a narrator...
@wyonnaplx wow...no way, man! I have absolutely no knowledge or interest in race driving, or even cars for that matter at all. I couldn't even tell you what type of car my parents have. It bores the shit out of me, all this stuff. But I came out of the cinema after watching this with tears in my eyes, and feeling like I had been a massive Senna fan in the 80's and was devastated at his loss. Having a narrator would have turned the doc into every other generic tv doc there is out there...
Without doubt the best film i have ever seen! It brings out every emotion :) Although i knew that the ending was inevitable i couldnt help but wish that it didnt happen. The beauty of this film is that it brings Ayrton back to life and shows what a true inspiration he was to everyone. R.I.P Ayrton my hero, we will never forget you <3
It fucks me up to NO end that none of YOU realised that what made SENNA a legend was his forever racing fight with his nemesis PROST !! PROST happened to be the element to challenge SENNA's driving strategy all along.. And none of u even mention PROST in the 7 pages of comments. Real SAD.
@dtremlett Actually, Prost and Senna were friends, until Senna joined McLaren. In the 94' season, Senna and Prost became pretty good friends. Senna called Prost and they talked for hours; Senna talked about the FW16, that it is fast but very very hard to drive. He also talked about Schumacher cheating, and so on.
I have only got into f1 in the last 3 or 4 years (since brawn) and I really wish that murray walker still commentated on this, not that dc and mb are bad, its just that murray was a god
best film EVER! before watching it i never knew how much of a lad he was to his country, to his family and to his friends. i still remember watching the worse weekend of formula 1 ever. i don't know about you(whoever is reading this) but at the end of this film, i cried. so much because this film reminds me of how much of a hero he was in f1 and the fact that NO ONE will be as better as him, R.I.P Ayrton Senna, Never Forgotten. What a legend <3
why is it so meny angry comments please make personel disputes on the mailes on others sites not on sennas trailer. he whas and still is the best ever f1 drivers of all time well that me thinking so. i get sad when i see so meny angry comments :(
How dare Prost carry his coffin after blocking him out as a team mate to guarantee the '93 title in the unbeatable active-ride Williams. I will never see Prost as a world champion in 1993 because he inherited an unbeatable car and stopped Senna from driving the 2nd machine.
@stevenjkirk actually it was the worse time for "fancy shit" as the reason it went sour in his penultimate season was because prost cruised to the title in a car that was more computer than skill and then retired! it's why senna left for williams. that's not to mention the turbo era seperating the grid into the haves and the have-nots immediately. still a real driver and a class above, but yeah he had the fancy stuff too...
Probably D best documenty film i seen in a very very long time, just brillian and whoeve called Senna a reckless driver are just stupid retards. Hes the true No1 no doubt about it.. A pure Legend of a Man. R.I.P
I watched this in the cinema and I recommend you see it. You don't have to like F1 necessarily, just being human should be enough to appreciate a great man.
Watched the film, gripping stuff and shows how it was back then, how political and bitchy it can get (as in any sport). Any one posting negative views are obviuosly narrow minded and unable to enjoy a film meant to entertain. Loved it, and the way they used all footage was clever!

6 people are Prost fans for disliking this.
dtremlett 4 months ago 36
@dtremlett Actually, Prost and Senna were friends, until Senna joined McLaren. In the 94' season, Senna and Prost became pretty good friends. Senna called Prost and they talked for hours; Senna talked about the FW16, that it is fast but very very hard to drive. He also talked about Schumacher cheating, and so on.

I have only got into f1 in the last 3 or 4 years (since brawn) and I really wish that murray walker still commentated on this, not that dc and mb are bad, its just that murray was a god

One of the best documentaries I have ever seen. Amazing visuals, footage, narrative and soundtrack. And extremely moving.

best film EVER! before watching it i never knew how much of a lad he was to his country, to his family and to his friends. i still remember watching the worse weekend of formula 1 ever. i don't know about you(whoever is reading this) but at the end of this film, i cried. so much because this film reminds me of how much of a hero he was in f1 and the fact that NO ONE will be as better as him, R.I.P Ayrton Senna, Never Forgotten. What a legend <3

How dare Prost carry his coffin after blocking him out as a team mate to guarantee the '93 title in the unbeatable active-ride Williams. I will never see Prost as a world champion in 1993 because he inherited an unbeatable car and stopped Senna from driving the 2nd machine.
verleneclaringbold 4 months ago
This is a brilliant film. It brings him back to life which makes the ending so much more tragic. RIP Senna.

@stevenjkirk i dont think you know how hard it is to actually drive an f1 car dude. fucking savage things
