That's a nice original engine there, those big 6hp. bring a lot of money at auction. It's a very good investment but I doubt you well be selling it any time soon. Keep em green John Deere For Life!

How many rpms does it run at?

I am not sure the exact amout. But i think around 500 RPM. I had it set to about as slow as it could go without stopping.

Let me be the first to say, i love john deere's engines, and i have been trying to get a cart to put my maytag engine on, but i think i'll just use cast iron casters.
