Can anyone confirm that this is the right date? I have searched for this show endlessly and am getting a soundboard recording from this date at Pirates World, which definitely does not have such a mindblowing 'The Other One' in it. Great one set show, regardless. Any help on whether the Pirates World show is dated wrong, or if this is. The only recording I have that resembles this is from 5/15/1970 Fillmore East
I was going to say that this version of the other is truely unreal! , But, as we know, nothing unreal exsists( Spock from the movie "The voyage home" )
@MrSharkey11 don't let movie dialogue replace your own thinking. i'm just a figment of my own imagination, and yet, somehow, miraculously, i exist ! my life is so unreal, words fail my efforts to describe a typical hour in any day in my life...god am i overwhelmed by the sheer impossibility of my existence...regardless of all of that, it's songs like "the other one" that somehow quantify my being here to type this to you. peace out forever !
@MrSharkey11 i'm glad you feel that way. some folks get way too serious and defensive with their comments, and that spoils the fun of posting an occasional flippant remark. youtube is a great place for like-minded minds to meld. cheers!
@a1zzzz, I was just being light hearted quoting a movie for illustrative purposes only! Yes life is a very deep experience, but if we remain in that realm constantly we would become fragmentated in both worlds.Rather,I think it's a harmony between the two.Hence, there's always the other one! Words are a attempt to describe thought, but not thought itself. Poets&wise men have tried to express this distinction for ages.Life is a miracle, and no accident as some would say! There is a road.Peace!
I can't believe it says there is only 456 views of this!!?? And only 6 comments!!?? They blast right into space with this one. Someone please tell me what show this is from. I feel like I'm starting to get off....heart beating faster...palms sweaty....mouth watering....a ball of energy growing in my stomache.... that feeling of getting ready to explode into pure joy. Damn I haven't dosed in years and don't need to with jams like this....even trippier now.
#1 WOW this is one the hottest/trippiest "Other Ones" i've ever heard...
#2 NO ONE drops a bass bomb like Phil.... as the years go on I get more impressed with his contribution to the Dead's music---> I've always been a huge Jerry fan (and always wiil be) , but as time moves on I've come to appreciate Phil and the other members and what they all brought to the band.
I've simply never heard another band who could feed off each other and mesh their sounds into one beautiful sound.
If, and I do mean IF, you love listening to The Dead, why on Earth would you rate this song less than a 5 star? I just don' t understand that. This is an excellent post. Thank You so much for sharing your music and your time.
!971 was a great year for Other One jams. Thanks for posting!

Unfortunately, I never got to see the Dead live. I've been a fan since I was about 15 (1986)
