  • @manolisworld he plays right handed guitars lefty style. similar to hendrix, but jimi restrung them for lefty.

  • @omfg51 oh yes! i see!

  • Man i would have been bobbing my head like a muthafucka, not sit still with an unexpressive look on my face like that guy behind if i was him haha

  • Been hooked on EG since album # 1. This guy is a sensation!

  • @smogbat50 W-U-R-D-!

  • OMG @1:32

  • And that day, not a single fuck was given... Seriously that guy behind ain't even bobbing its head. Anyway, ridiculous solo !

  • I love this solo,,to me it had everything that that song needed and then some,,kudos Eric.

  • That guy was just sitting there and chewing a gum while Eric raping his guitar, as if nothing happen lol

  • Crazy solo from the one of the greats in blues rock, u are the best Eric.

  • is this on transformation? I just bought it Sunday and had Eric Sign it but I haven't gotten the time to listen to all of it.

  • dope

  • I love the tone

  • 2 people are liars. ;)

  • The backwardness of the strings is very confusing to my brain... makes it even more awesome

  • Eric Gales is the greatest exponent that blues guitar will ever see.

  • @GMoorefan111 you need rinse out that jizzed crust out of your ears and wake up and... i could record the sound of my balls being wacked across your face and you'd think it be a hit!!!!

  • Nice solo!

  • i kno that man in the background tryna keep a straight face, whle thinkin, "WOW" this black guy is sick" lol j/k he kept his cool i woulda flew out my seat , i am glad to see a black man playing tho, and he sounds real nice

  • Mike Varney..... Damn brings back memories of my highschool days!! He brought all the shredders to forefront back in the day on Shrapnel Records!!!

  • BEASTIN!!!!!! 101

  • Yo yoo..and I was the guy under the table playing the WAHWAH pedal for Eric...!

But where are my credits? ??

  • just plain awesome i love listening to this guy play one of my top 3 favorite guitarist of all time stevie ray vaughn, malmsteen n eric gayles

  • why people have to play guitar upside down to be diferent? play songs that are diferent !

  • thats some bad ass pickin

  • wonderful

  • That is how its done. Thats how you play guitar.

  • Love Eric's playing. So damned good. This clip is killer and should have sooo many more views. He's got a vocal quality that suits his music too. My only complaint is his lyrics. Some of them are pretty lame. It's not a bad thing to hook up with a good writer. Did wonders to revive Aerosmith's career. Solid lyrics are the only thing missing from Eric's repertoire. I say this with respect as a fan having bought both the Relentless and That's What I Am discs. Peace.

  • Comment removed

  • @GemTones All Eric's work is excellent. He is the greatest blues/rock guitar player that will ever exist. I consider that non-debatable. I have never found his lyrics to be lame.

  • @straydogbluesman Totally agree,i don't wtf this clown is talkin' bout as i believe Eric is a total Musician fully blessed in all categories when it comes to music. Listen to the lyrics from She Shines or Too Late To Cry and tell me if you can write better. What a kook!

  • @GMoorefan115 It would seem a lot of these guys are racist at heart, though they would never admit it. They are the "KWS/Joe Bonammassa is waaay better than EG types". There is no explaining it because it is so clear how ignorant these people have to be to say something like that. I know it isn't a contest but a musical analysis shows what's what in terms of technique, and it ALL belongs to Eric.

  • @straydogbluesman Maybe if they said "Jeff Healey is better than Eric Gales" they might be able to make a case, but sadly, Jeff passed away. I enjoy all of these players but I am a warrior for the Gales Bros; Eric, Eugene, and Little Jimmy King aka Manuel (RIP) are the greatest. Left Hand Brand album changed my life!!!

  • Eric Gales is amazing... im just curious though.. I know he's been playing that way for years and making tons of money off of it, but arent there some chords that are just physically impossible to play with his hand positioned that way on a regularly strung right handed guitar? Like Im right handed and I tried playing a Cminor7 chord on a right handed guitar positioned to play with my left hand and my index finger always touches the low E string even though its not supposed to on that chord...

  • @mysterybat35 I genuinely think the reversed (for him) string arrangement is at least partially responsible for the strange, fresh inversions you hear from Eric, like those all over the Little Wing/Berlin video. It forces a different approach.

  • @zombielolocaust Yeah that makes a lot of sense... but for ex: when I play the classic song "whos that lady" on my Strat - it starts with a Cmin7 chord..(I'm right handed mind you).. When I take my guitar, flip it the other side forcing me to use my left hand.. there is almost no way around me hitting strings I don't want to with my index finger... I'm just wondering how Eric would play those kind of chords or if he is on the other hand - forced to play unsual fingerings to play songs..

  • that was crazy good.

  • Damn Eric. How can you be so calm after DESTROYING that guitar. Incredibly gifted player.

  • jimi beck and SRV are COMPLETELY overrated!!!! I'm sick of all the hollabaloo about them being so darn iconic who freakin cares i can throw down the same licks they can while taking a dump!! if you want to hear a REAL guitarist shredding with enough soul to fill heaven and hell listen to GREG HOWE!! your comments against mine are irrerefutable .... i dont know what that means...

  • @treyguy09 please.

  • @treyguy09 It means you are a complete idiot that what it means! Yes Greg Howe is amazing, but my dumbass friend,if you asked Greg himself what he thinks about Jeff Beck he would enlighten your empty soul. The man has just gotten better with age. And as for you having the half witted balls to say you could play his "licks"...Post something and prove yourself .Didn't think so!

  • The dude in the background chewing his gum makes this vid even 100 times heavier. The engineer is stunned by the awesomness

  • what's the brand of his orange jacket? i see a giraffe but i can't read the brand name!!

  • Comment removed

  • the guy is a monster ...no one plays like that nowadays.... damn.

  • The engineer is cool. He's all business when he's working. That is what he gets PAID for, to be a professional. What should he be doing? Shaking his head up and down and dancing and NOT paying attention to levels, etc?

  • Comment removed

  • Mike Varney says he's the only guitarist to give him goosebumps.

I say he's the only musician that's made me drool on myself.

  • @HolyCrapItsEricGales

You need to get out more.

  • @67goldtops

IDGI....what does unintentionally drooling on myself have to do with getting out. I actually know Eric, btw. I've hung out with him a good bit in the last year. Puts on a hell of a live show, you should get out and see it sometime.

  • @HolyCrapItsEricGales

You wrote, "He's the ONLY musician..."

If you really feel he's the ONLY musician to make you feel that way, my response is, again, you need to get out more. As for the remainder of your post...I've seen Eric multiple times & had the opportunity to meet him once. He's a super nice guy & a fine player. The most notable show I've seen him play was the 3/26/04 gig @ the Paradise in Boston when he opened for Indigenous. He was DISMANTLED by Mato when they jammed on Red House.

  • @67goldtops

That doesn't mean I don't like other guitar players. For the record, Gales has slayed the likes of Eric Johnson. I don't need to argue with you about it.

    My top 5 favorite guitarists:

    1. Eric Gales

    2. Jimi Hendrix

    3. Jeff Beck

    4. Joe Bonamassa

    5. SRV

  • @HolyCrapItsEricGales

Argue? No arguing here. Mind you, if I wanted to argue, you'd know it. This coming from a guy who saw SRV 1/2 dozen times before you were even potty trained. Oh, and your little list is pure silliness. When you're ready, check out my favorites page. You can start with Rory Gallagher and Peter Green. Eric Gales better than Hendrix & SRV?? Thanks for the laugh. Peace.

  • @67goldtops

I didn't exactly say one was better than the other. I said my favorites, as in who I like to listen to most.

Maybe you never heard the saying, "to each his own".

  • @HolyCrapItsEricGales

Sure thing, bro. It's all good. Give a listen to some Derek Trucks or some of Marc Ford's lead work with the Black Crowes.

  • @67goldtops Please...Mato is just another in a LONG....Line of Stevie copyists ,great player, but totally unoriginal.

  • @GMoorefan115

Incorrect. Yor assessment is simple and easy to make upon quick review of his playing. However, Mato's phrasing is quite original. Spend any time watching him live and you'll see this. And there's actually more Santana in his playing than SRV. Either way, the night I saw Mato & Gales onstage was humbling for Eric. I actually felt pity for him. At one point he was joking about taking the strap of his guitar and giving up. But hey, thank you for playing.

  • @67goldtops I have seen Mato live on several occasions. He is a great player and singer, among the best, but Eric Gales simply can outclass any guitar player on the "blues" scene today.

I consider Lance Lopez second only to Eric but even he is quite a bit far behind in terms of technical ability and his skills are incredible. He is technically better than what I have seen from Mato.

  • @straydogbluesman

Man, in terms of a word for word rating, your posts are among the silliest I've come across. Gales can "outclass any player on the blues scene..." Then there's your Lance Lopez bit...Then your "racists @ heart" assertion...You're quite entertaining! First off, Gales isn't even in the top tier of current blues players. Next point, Lance is good, but if that's the style you like, Philip Sayce renders Lance childish. Lastly, If I'm racist, why is Hendrix my God?

  • @67goldtops Most of us were laughing at the ridiculous notion that Mato Nanji is technically superior to Eric Gales. Gales isn't in the top tier of current blues players? Only a dimwit would state Nanji is technically superior to Eric. If Hendrix is your god you worship a false idol. Plenty of racists like Hendrix and black music. I've noticed a trend of players who think KWS or Bonamassa is better than Eric and it's doggone comical. You're a joke.

  • @straydogbluesman

"Most of us." Who does THAT consist of? I like that you've chosen yourself the "spokesperson for the blues." As amusing is your out-of-gas user name. How awesomely unoriginal. Let me guess-Ralph Macchio's character in "Crossroads" is your biggest inspiration. How is it that all you seem to mention is "technical," yet you really think Gales does ANYTHING that players before haven't done better? You silly clown, you can only READ of the blues players I've seen.

  • @67goldtops Most of us consists of everyone who came here to watch Eric play except you dumbass. You came here and talking shit and "most of us" called you on it. I mention technical because your dimwitted self started talking about Nanji's runs and how you pitied Eric. He has done what no other players can do, shred with absolute blues soul. So go suck a bug, 67 goldtop ain't exactly original either, Mine was in honor of Raw Dawg but I guess you are too slow to make the connection.

  • @straydogbluesman

Talking shit? Funny that you chose to see it as that, rather than an honest critique. But what would one expect from an inept clown like you who thinks Lance Lopez is an elite blues player? Meanwhile have you even HEARD of Rory Gallagher, Danny Gatton or Chris Whitley? As for the originality of "67goldtop," it's a reference to a car, not a guitar. Gibson didn't even make a goldtop in '67, so your comments on guitars are clearly as weak as your choice in hats.

  • @67goldtops It was a horse shit critique. And goldtop ounds like a lame car. Rory Gallagher is english and nowhere near Eric's level, Danny Gatton was awesome but played country, not blues and nobody heard of chris whitley.

Lance Lopez is one of the top blues guitar players. Tune me in to someone better, Mato Nanji ain't it bra. And my hat is a hamburg, so I guess John Lee Hooker had shitty choice in hats too. Don't see any bluesmen driving a 67goldtop, whatever junk that is:)

  • @straydogbluesman

"And goldtop ounds like a lame car." OUNDS? I don't know what's dumber, your spelling, or that you think Rory Gallagher was English!! AMAZING!! It must be liberating to be so free of the ravages of intelligence. I wonder which Rory would find funnier, you're being dumb enough to call him English, or saying Clapton's better. lol. Oh & Gatton was far from COUNTRY. What, that's what you deduced after looking him up after never hearing of him B4? How incompetent!

  • @67goldtops English, Irish, it's all the same un-American nonsense to me. Never mind Eric would school Rory quite badly. When did I say Clapton was better? Never did, but Eric would school him as well. Eric is the greatest exponent of the blues guitar we will ever see. And I have Gatton albums, he wasn' blues, he wasn't rock, he was country or "rockabilly" if you must.

The only thing incompetent around here is blues guitar skill level analysis and your shitty taste in cars dog.

  • @straydogbluesman

"Eric is the greatest exponent the blues will ever see."

See, but you've already clearly demonstrated your stupidity. When I name players the point is YOU'VE not even heard them. I've watched the vids on your homepage of your own atrocious playing. Are you an incompetent player as a result of lousy influences? Or do you listen to garbage because you're a shitty player? Either way, I like watching you fumble your turnaround @ the 1:57 point of your first vid!

  • @67goldtops I've heard of all of them, it makes no difference. I've heard Johnny Winter, big deal, Danny Gatton (not blues), SRV, etc etc. It's easy for you to critique my playing, you have nothing to demonstrate your own, ya bum! I suggest you check out Lance Lopez' "the brick" here on youtube and then post your video of you totally blowing him away. I won't hold my breath lol.

  • @67goldtops 67 goldtops uploads: "Sorry, no videos found" hahahahaha. Dumbass.

  • @straydogbluesman

TImmy, Timmy, Timmy...You can't define technique? What a surprise! In addition to calling Rory Gallagher "English," you now demonstrate yourself to be the guy who professes the technical superiority of a colossal dullard of a guitarist like Lance Lopez. Yet you can't even offer your definition of the word!! Amazing!! Oh, and for the record, the car I reference in my user name is a '67 Stingray. Oh, and Hendrix drove one. So once again, you show your dumbness.

  • @67goldtops I can define technique, it's name is Eric Gales. Lopez is hardly a "dullard", the dude has amazing straight blues chops and once again, you don't have any videos of your own playing so you are just a bag of hot air. And Hendrix didn't drive a 67, that was the old body style. So once again, you show you have no basis for your critiques. Post some videos or shut your piehole.

  • @straydogbluesman

HAHAHA!! Upon playing the Monterey Pop festival, one of the first things Hendrix did was purchase a '67 Stingray, which he wreck almost immediately. TRY AGAIN!! Oh, and I'm glad to see that you're indeed confirming my assertion that you're too fucking dumb to even offer an explanation of TECHNIQUE. Oh Timmy, Timmy, Timmy...Will you ever get a break? LOL. Not playing your little Sears special dreadnought, you won't!! HAHA, you low-rent joker!!

  • @67goldtops Who cares what Hendrix drove anyways? Only you, dumbass. As for my sears special dreadnought, that was a Gibson I borrowed from the dude running the jam, open your eyes jackass. It is fortunate I have met someone as petty as you for you have made my whole evening entertaining with your delusional nonsense haha.

I'll take your critique seriously when I have a chance to examine your own playing. Won't happen anytime soon I doubt......

  • @straydogbluesman

Timmy, TImmy, TImmy...STILL awaiting that definition of TECHNICAL. You bird-chested little runt, what do you weigh, like a 125?? I bet you can't even bench your weight, you silly little child. Anytime you want, just let me know. I'll help you out by defining TECHNIQUE for you. Just let me know...

  • @67goldtop LOL, I'm 105 and 5'7", what does that matter? You always pick on the little guy but never your guitar I guess. You probably don't even play a guitar, but here you are running your mouth with nothing to back it up but your mouth. Still, the offer stands, show up to Antones on the 2nd and jam. Let's meet. It's clear I'm just a little guy so what do you have to fear?

  • @straydogbluesman

Like I said, already...Anytime you want, just let me know. I'll define TECHNICAL for you and show just how limited your understanding of the entire concept is. Meanwhile, you're the only clown on the fucking planet who'd mention Lance Lopez in the same sentence as SRV. Too bad Lance's hands would WILT while attempting to even get vibrato with a 1/2step bend on one of SRV's Strats, outfitted w/ jumbo bass frets. That'd be even funnier than your garbage playing!

  • @67goldtops Like I said already, show up on the 2nd. More than likely you live in some one horse no-place and can't play ode to joy on mama's classical. Lance can play faster and do many of the same bends as SRV. Everyone loves SRV, but he ain't the end all you dork. Eric Gales is the best though....

  • @67goldtops I mean, why were you even here seeing as how you think Eric isn't very good? That makes you look like a dumbass. Then you open your mouth and remove all doubt.

  • @straydogbluesman

Never said Eric isn't a great player. That's YOUR interpretation. Meanwhile you STILL can't define technical. As for my being a "lousy bum," how do you explain the fact that I'm awaiting a fourth quarter bonus check that's worth more than you make in a year? Then there's you, BORROWING a guitar for an open mic gig! Priceless. Tell you what, Timmy. I promise I'll post a vid for you in the next couple days. In the meantime, you keep stalling on that definition!

  • @67goldtops You don't know what I make in a year so that's YOUR interpretation. Nor does your income equate to you being a good player. I eagerly expect your video you will never post. You're just a bag of hot air with nothing to back your BS up. As for borrowing a guitar for an open mic gig, it was me sitting in, not me running the jam. The three acoustic vids were the three songs I played that night. Wow you're dumb.

  • @straydogbluesman

I don't NEED to know what you make in a year. You're garbage. Your playing shows that, as does your childish logic. You base your entire argument of a player on your interpretation of his alleged technique, yet you can't even define technique! Hey at least you're correct on one point. My income indeed doesn't equate to being a good player. However, it does nullify your claim that I'm a bum. Meanwhile you ARE the guy who borrows guitars and then plays poorly!

  • @straydogbluesman

"I can define technique. It's name is Eric Gales."

Priceless. Like I've said, Gales is a fine player. But that you think his technique as a blues player eclipses guys like Guthrie Govan or Philip Sayce is just incompetence on your part. Mind you, I' not into technique simply for technique's sake. But seeing YOU are, they're are plenty of guys who play with spirit and soul and whose technique surpass Gales. You're simply too limited to discover them. Clown.

  • @67goldtops I missed you at the jam last night, chickenshit.:)

  • @straydogbluesman

Oh yeah, the big jam on the MONDAY night after New Year's!! What a coveted gig THAT must have been. I'm sure that after the New Years celebration, folks were just FIGHTING to get into that show to see your little cliched blues performance on your little borrowed acoustic!! Yeah, what's next in your oh-so-successful career, Timmy? The Montreux Jazz Festival? Timmy? Timmy?

  • @67goldtops Yeah, that's right, the one you were too chickenshit to show up to. It's a wonder a douchebag like yourself bothers to keep breathing.....

  • @straydogbluesman

Too chickenshit to show up? Why WOULD I show up to see a hack? I can get that right on youtube! Hey, did you get a cut of the gate for your little Monday night gig? What'd that come out to, about $7? LOL

  • @67goldtops I'm wondering if you can walk and breathe at the same time or is that too much for you to handle? Maybe your mom wouldn't foot the cab bill down to Antone's cuz you wouldn't wax that goldtop before her legs haha.

  • @straydogbluesman

Man, your attempts at wittiness are clearly as out-of-gas as your guitar playing. Did you at least master a simple turnaround in Emaj for your little Monday night gig?

  • @67goldtops If you had been there, maybe you'd know. You were too busy with your tail caught in your pussy to show up though. Chickenshit.

  • @straydogbluesman

Chickenshit? To do what? See your completely horrific attempt at playing guitar? LOL. Too funny. Actually I had far more interesting ways of spending a Monday evening. Taking a good shit for example was much more exhilarating than your cliched, 3rd rate acoustic work and your second hand hat. But hey, how'd your take of the gate treat you? Did you at least make enough to fill the tank of your '92 Toyota?

  • @67goldtops You heard me, chickenshit. Open your tin ears dumbass, you got nothin'. Now you are spamming up my vids with your dumb comments. I'll let them stand so everyone can see what a douche you are haha.

  • @straydogbluesman

Everyone like WHO? Your legions of fans that come to your sold-out Monday night gigs??

  • @67goldtops Where's your video, turd?

  • @67goldtops You're a lousy bum.

  • @67goldtops You were born with a tin ear dwog.

  • @straydogbluesman

SURE I was. That's why YOU think a guy like Lance Lopez is a premiere blues player. Meanwhile, what does he do other than play a lot of fast notes, followed by a cliched turnaround? Zakk Wylde is as much a blues player. Have you really never heard Johnny Winter's "Still Alive and Well" album? Have you really never listened to Derek Trucks slide work? Did you really never experience SRV's technique & intensity? Oh, my bad-Of course you didn't. Sucks to be you!

  • @67goldtops Lance is a premier blues player. He has toured all over with people like Buddy Miles and Lucky Peterson. If he isn't premier, then post your videos of yourself smoking him on lead please, I'd love to see it.

Johnny Winter is alright, Derek Trucks is forgettable, sorry. SRV was excellent but Lance can outplay him and Eric Gales can outplay Lance. In fact, Eric Gales could outplay both of them when he was 16. Doesn't mean I don't love SRV, he's just not as technical as EG.

  • @straydogbluesman

LOL. You're REALLY going on record by claiming Gales is better than SRV. FIrst of all, let's try this. Define TECHNICAL. Let's see how incredibly limited your understanding of the word really is in reference to guitar playing. Get to it...Let's hear YOUR definition.

  • @67goldtops First let's see YOUR videos. You don't have any. For all anyone knows you couldn't play twinkle twinkle little star with a gun to your head. Stupid bastard, you knock my playing but I'm hosting the doggone blues jam at Antone's in Austin next week. Why not bring your guitar and lemme school your jackass and then I can bust you upside the head afterwards too? Eric has better technical skills. SRV and Lance have great bends, but Eric can "shred".

  • @67goldtops To sum it up, at least my "incompetent" guitar playing is getting me somewhere!

  • Wow! great solo! great tone! his fingers reminds me of the ones of Jimi Hendrix, specially since he is playing lefty...

  • That's one of the down-right meanest solos ever!

  • Been dissed? Please send me the backing track.haha

  • man what an inspiring player!

  • Sounds like a mixed version of SRV and Zakk Wylde at some times. I love it.

  • went out and bought the cd ,, Really good stuff ,,

  • What Wah-Wah pedal is he used?

  • Nice

  • You see those Skinny Top/ Heavy Bottoms on top the shelf? I wonder who's working the wah? Is it some kind of auto-wah? If so, I want one like THAT!

  • I recorded back there in the 70's ,when mike 1st started up with Tower of Power

  • hendrix much upside down not even a string changed

  • @alpacino50kg Jimi Hendrix flipped the guitar around but he flipped the strings around with it to make it normal string configuration.

  • @guitarman812 no he didnt watch him play voodoo child at wood stock

  • Eric Gales this message is for you. If anything bad happens to you and for any reason you stop playing guitar. I will not be pleased, oh and stay the fuck away from helicopters...

  • @Gubby007 thats not even funny at all?

  • @seifs4 A winner is you.

  • @Gubby007 are you retarded?

  • Great playing and guitar sound, did the engineers bus turn up in the end?

  • absolute stunning guitar solo

  • Comment removed

  • That was completely cold blooded man! Right on!

  • That was completely cold blooded man! Right on!

  • Eric Gales Fuckin Shreds!!!

  • Great solo! I wish I knew about this guy when i was listening to this style of playing.

  • Uhhhh, I guess since I hear a wah-wah opening and closing, and Eric's foot is not moving, must be automatic? Glad they are finally tracking him right. That earlier EGB stuff was always mixed crappy.....

  • This is the Heaviest clip on youtube.

  • that studio engineer seems like a dick

  • @coachz44 Nope, Jason is the greatest guy. He is just a calm dude, that's all. Lot's of fun working with him.

  • @hachaduryan lol I don't know someone can stay chill when that is happening beside them, I would be taking notes.. :D

  • @hachaduryan Spot on, he is solid. Love working with him! Great guy.

  • @coachz44 lol yeah, doesn't seem too excited

  • @coachz44 Dude maybe that this guy just heard the same thing like 30 times ... after 30 times of this solo you would be like this too trust me

  • @coachz44 hey thats Hurley! XD well his younger skinny brother anyway ...

  • i like eric's vibrato when hits those root notes

  • @csmpeoil Erics vibrato shake is earth-movin....

  • Comment removed
