I am 42yrs &have small fibroids for yrs Even had 4 children with no comps, yes you do have ALOT of pain & it is quite hard to get it under control. When they are small they dont cause too much trouble but that depends where they are located. taking Magnesium daily as a vitamin really assist in helping pain & Iburfen soon as you know the period is coming helps. I now have to have it surg to remove it becuase its large. I named my fibroids, which helps coping with them -flou &fester lol
Fibroids are very common in all women of all ages. They have different kinds of names for fibroid non- cancerous tumors. Subserousal fibroid, Intramural fibroid, and pedunculated fibriod. Depending on where the fibroids are located, they can cause infertility. If you experience prolonged periods seven days or more. Or heavy bleeding and lower back and pelvic pain. Go to the emergency room and they will treat you. With or with out insurance, also go apply for a gold card. May God Bless.
My wife is going through these Fibroids. We'll looking into fixing her up. God willing she'll get better because I love her so much. You're a real help especially describing your own personal problem with these things. And you broke it down in real terms not the bullshit they try to feed her at the clinic, Thanks.
I wanted to cry listening to you speak about medicaid and these bullshit doctors. I have medicaid as well and I have some health problems. I am white but at high risk for a lot of things. These doctors that take medicaid are some of the dumbest, most pathetic I've ever seen. I am so sorry you have to deal with this too.
Girl, this was an awesome video. They should invite you on The Doctors show or hire you as an advocate for fibroid awareness because I really learned a lot. It broke my heart to hear that you were denied care because you were on Medicaid and they basically want you to be dying before they do something. Shame on them.
it's really scary I'm 27, I am researching to find out how to take it out cause I want to have children, medicaid figures we are poor so we don't need to have children... I have heard of a product called fibrovan at fibrovan.com and I'm going to give it a try....
there is herbs u can take to get rid of fibroids the one is cayenne pepper, yes gurls cayenne pepper and it works very well, u have to take it in capsules and the hotter the better.. if anybody need more help on this topic.. just go on cure zone or contact me...
so fibroids practice discrimination against blacks? and you are being discriminated against by your gynecologist? what the f*ck? get some good health insurance and get 'em taken out. they are not cancer, they are more common than not having fibroids, they are benign. furthermore, the majority of women see their gynecologist once a year, unless something comes up. why would you want to see them every three months? get busy on the path to employment so you can get the insurance you want.
one of my mates wanted to ask a question.she told me that she has a lump inside her virgina. .like deep inside.and just wanted to know what it is?and can it be harmful?and how to get rid of it. and shes onli 16.help her please.
u know this is so crazy cause i have resently stop dairy and all meats except turkey and fish just to see if there would be a different in my over all health but i haven't had my period yet so as for that part i cant comment yet but i have lose some weight and i have not even started exercizing yet
Apple -I so understand. I've had two myomectomies to remove fibroids. I am in my late thirties and may be growing them again. I plan to marry and get pregnant soon so will have the kid and remove the fibroids at that point. However, i have kept my issues at bay and am willing to share. Let me know.
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About(TM): Premenopause: Balance Your Hormones and Your Life from Thirty to Fifty (What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About.. It talks about taking progesterone to balance out the estrogen dominance that causes that uterine fibroid.
Dr hotze has a good book that combines diet and natural hormances and supplementals :
hormones, Health, and Happiness: A Natural Medical Formula for Rediscovering Youth. in addition suzannne sommers mentions him in her new book called Breakthrough: Eight Steps to Wellness
lOOK AT SHOLAOSLOW'S channel... I was surprised to learn that there are chemicals in practicly all store bought cosmetics, shampoos, lotions, etc. & plastics..Its in about EVERY bath & body works product. They mimmick estrogen & that contributes to fibroids, but there is more.. look her up!
I can say that I used to drink a beer every night and noticed that when I did I would cramp more and more. So I quit. My tummy is rather large but notice an increase in size when I drink alcohol or any kind of dairy or chicken. So, I stopped eating dairy products, except shredded cheese. I eat mainly soy products in place of milk products and its not so bad. I really beleive meat affects women's uterines more than any other food. Anything not natural should not be eaten.
I was diagnosed with fibroids in July 2006. I noticed that whenever I worked out I would get cramps that felt like labor pains. At first? and I know this sounds silly but I thought I was having sympathy labor pains cause my daughter was close to her due date then. I was taken into the emergency room they did an ultra sound and found that my fibroid is inside the uterine wall and was the size of a five month fetus. I have not had surgery yet. I decided to change my diet and stop all meat...
It definitely starts with changing ur diet, Black Women STOP DRINKING THE LIQUOR!!! A lot of people don't know this but a bad liver is associated with uterine fibroids. Drink herbal teas such as Milk Thistle. STOP EATING PORK AND BEEF!!! Most meats are bad but those two are really. STOP EATING CANDY, INCLUDING CHOCOLATE, as well as, any other sugarS and starches, this also heavily effects the blood sugar which promotes estrogen and brings the fibroids.
You should have an ultrasound done. Last time I checked, an ultrasound test was about $200. When they ask you about insurance, ask them how much the ultrasound test would cost and then say you are paying with cash. Once you say the word medicaid they will try to send you home without doing anything.
I do not have any side effects from the fibroids. I went through all that when I first started my cycle. After my 1st child, all the pain stopped and has not returned. Because the size of my stomach. I will be going for a partial hysterectomy. It's so funny because before i got pregnant my belly was fat/big. Post baby my belly was flat as a pancake for three months. After that it went back to normal. The fibroids were pushed to the back and I was slim for a while and I loved it.
I too am African American. My fibroids were found in June 2005 when I was going through a miscarriage, I was six weeks along and just found out I was pregnant. The doctor first checked me and said you must be at least 5 months pregnant. Because of the fibroids my uterus is the size of a 5 months pregnant woman, and it does show. Gladly 8 months after that I got pregnant again. I was considered a high risk pregnancy because of the fibroids. I had to be careful. Fortunately I did go to term.
Oh girl, I am going through the same thing. I m African American who lives in nJ and HAD medicaid, and my mother had fibroid /endometriosis. Im not sure if she had a total hysterectomy and/or fibroids removed. I m 21 and suffer horrendous cramps and blood clots during my period. However, I strongly believe that diet can stop or promote these symptoms. Basically I read and experienced that if you dont eat beef or dairy like two weeks before your period that your symptoms are greatly reduced.
I'm white and I've had fibroids since I was 26 (1999). At times I've had no insurance, other times my mother has paid for it because she is wealthy for which I am blessed. Planned Parenthood clinic took my problem very seriously and got me 2 ultrasounds for $125 when I had no insurance. I have always been diagnosed with ultrasound tests, I'm having another one tomorrow. I had a myomentomy, but also a UFE which was wayyy more painful than I thought it would be...
...And the pain meds make me clinically depressed. I can feel another one pushing on my ovary all the time. I don't know what to do this time. I had a nurse call me a "fibroid maker." I'm only 35, I'm up for one more UFE. My gyno is prolly going to urge me to have a hysterectomy, but I don't feel like being laid up for a month+. When the next fibroid comes though, I will have to concede to do it. Thanks for sharing your story.
I just had surgery last year to have mine removed. I was soooo glad to have them removed I have much more energy now. I wish I had have paid more attention to my cycle, I probably would have the surgery before the fibroids grow to 10#s.
anyone considering getting a hysterectomy or anything like that look at alternatives and get 2nd opinions. My wife was diagnosed with fibroids...and they were not able to locate them 5 years later. Many doctors..atleast 10 years ago were like...ok...you need a hysterectomny and these women may not have needed them.
My mother had fibroid tumors. We didn't know she had them for years. She didn't have any problems, but we just thought she gained some weight. She was in her late 50's when she had them removed.
Nice and informative, however Asian women are at high risk as well my OB/GYN said their risk is high too. Whatever it always seem like black people have everything when that is not the case it's just reported like that, but we are not alone. I was told I had them and had no Idea.
Fibroids may or may not affect a woman's ability to get pregnant, fibroids can effect childbearing. It ultimately depends on where the fibroids are located. Pregnant women with fibroids should be monitored closely by their OB/GYN.
A good friend of mine has fibroids, she's been trying to get pregnant for the past four years but cant seem to because of them. Its good you were able to have your son.

This may sound contraversal but try a vegetarian diet, I've been a vegan for 5yrs now and for some amazing reason your body tends to go in reverse when it comes to pain, disease, and problems such as what you speak about. Please try. I use to suffer from migrains and as soon as I became vegetarian the headaches magically disappeared. My hair grew, nails grew, I feel extremely good and in the best mental and physical shape ever. It's worth the try we all owe it to ourselves.

Its possible that being overwieght can contribute. It can cause extra estrogen to build up and fibroids grow from the effects of estrogen.
