  • btw i know how to put it together becuase i mess with electronics all the time but if your not clear in your vid then people will mess up there phones or what ever they charge i know if i was a little kid and i messed up my iphone i would be p off and wouldnt pay any attintion to anything you ever post again like i said not trying to be rude im just lookin out for little kids and your rep

  • hello is there a spicific way that the diode and resistor are supposed to be and if not why couldint you just say the resistor goes to the possitive side and the diode goes to the negitive side instead of saying left and right it looks like in the video you striped all but the positve and negitive wires away im not trying to be rude but if your going to make these videos be more spicific on how to do it i know you have a disclaimer but you know people are going to try it especialy little kids

  • 240p we meet again...

  • It seems like my pile AA USB ;)

  • does it work with an ipad?

  • Your sad why spend loads of time doing fake stuff and putting it on YouTube you could be on call of duty mw3

  • @taylor99981 Are you serious? COD is cool and all but this is way more interesting then playing video games...and how is this fake???

  • I have a question. Where can I learn this kind of thing? Like resistors and diodes, what they do and when to use them.

  • @applesauceis22 Wikipedia is the best option for you

but you should also know basics like meaning of resistance and nature of electricity(mayb wikipedia will do for that)

  • @oj1997ss All the electrical engineers that edit the Wikipedia pages make the learning a bit difficult. Seems like an interesting field though, so I'll keep going.

  • @applesauceis22 I'm a Nuclear Electricians Mate for the United states navy. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS! if a short or an open were to happen, you would be fucked.

Attaching a fuse somewhere in the schematics would help.

    Gonna hit the drawing board.

  • @iamenjoi As would rubber gloves and a rubber mat I suppose. I'm wanting to learn; I don't plan on jumping right into experimentation.

  • time to carry a shit load of batteries with you now

  • Put it in an Altoids tin for extra style.

  • Thumbs up if youwqtch these videos and you dont even try to make the things they make!

  • What the fuck is wrong with Jack mouth?

  • This is bad - they didn't say enough about the zener diode and what it does, people will try to build this and destroy anything they try to power with it.

  • It would of been cooler if it was a rechargeable 9v variant.

  • Booooooooooooooooom!

    Nice job

  • Holy shit a Chuck Norris add? Don't skip it or he WILL find you.

  • I made it and it doesn't work :(

  • Why can't you just directly hook up 3 triple or double A's? It would only put out 4.5V and the chargers I use are labelled to have an output of 5V...

  • When i plug in ipod, the screen is lighting but the battery isn charging. I use the battery which isn't new. what's the problem?

  • @GodForSalePFM the problem is nothing that household hacker does actually works, if theres no signal on your iphones USB data pins, you wont be able to charge.

  • @samus802 the negative and the positive leads are attached to the diode I think. And the resistor is attached to the positive terminal

  • @samus802 u can go to the dollar store and buy a cord that has two male ends and plug it in to ur computer and to the adaptor and use a multimeter

  • @simmcowaPang122 lol i figured it out with a led so i dont get how the video describes it so were do i plug the resistors?

  • wat if my usb cable has white, blue, green and orange cables? wich one is positive charge and wich one is negative?

  • nvm wrong guy lol

  • Hey I saw ur commnt on how it stinks that u only get 10 min on cloud browse to play club penguin check out my vid i found an app where u get unlimited time

  • pretty smart boy men...

  • how long does each 9v battery charge the iphone for?

  • 4600th person to like.

  • gongrats on the 100,000 subs :D lol

  • this shit wont work. I once tried a more complicated setup by hooking a battery up to a wall outlet you can buy and plugged a nightlight in and it wasnt able to power it.

  • boom fail

  • any dumbass can get 2 usb cables and make it look like the same one. not worth my time.

  • @moreownage the adapter sends the signal through the cable to the iPod

  • 2:05 FAIL!!!!

  • just use a 5v voltage regulator

  • This is BAD electronics. 1/resistance total=1/r1+1/r2. In otherwords, your output voltage will differ depending on your load.

  • this was made on my bday!!!

  • @ 2;17 "There u go, that's all there is to it" (Background - "Noo its nott") Wtf ?

  • /watch?v=4iUN-cjDNrw

  • i tried it and it didnt work 1 hour of confusion and 15 minuets of work i should just stick to cod!

  • oh.. i thought u were making a usb charger for a 9 volt bat :D oh well...

  • I'm sorry, but this will NEVER EVER work. A zener diode regulator can only deliver around 100 mA reliably, or you need a power resistor and power zener diode. Another problem is, the iPhone will NOT charge without voltage dividers on the Data+ and Data- lines in the USB plug. Please don't fool people into thinking this is genuine, it's a waste of time. You can get away with a 7805 Linear regulator, two 100 nF caps for good measure and then four resistors to fool the iPhone into charging mode.

  • Household Hacker = We do videos so we can see how many stupids actually attempt to make it.

  • @slackery so none of their stuff works

  • did he just soder over a carpet?

  • @powertheteam ,It's SOLDER. I know you americans like saying "sodder' but it is solder.

i do know why you guys cant say it how it's supposed to be said like every other country in the world.

  • @DaiVernonRIP dude its a small mistake calm yah tits

  • @DaiVernonRIP Oh shit, oh shit! We mispronounced the word SOLDER! The world is going to end! Fucking hell, why did I say it with a silent L, WHY!?

  • @AlanComek its ok dude, mental retardation is nothing to ashamed of. i'm sure with some help you'll be speaking properly in no time.

  • @DaiVernonRIP I can totally agree. I guess that everyone in Canada and Europe are mentally retarded as well, since they don't speak the same way as redneck pieces of shit like you. If I forget to say the "T" in Chairlift, and I get an honor roll in school, am I still retarded even when about a million people do the same thing?

  • @AlanComek yeah i dont believe for a second you're an honour roll student. i mean if redneck is seriously the best you got, then we're scraping the bottom of the genetic barrel. and yeah if you choose one constanant in pretty much every word you say to be silent. you're a retard. but like i said before, it's ok.

  • @DaiVernonRIP Listen you fucknugget, I think that tons of people have told us that "Solder" is pronounced like "Soul Der". All you are doing is pissing people off, like me. Please just shut the fuck up.

  • @AlanComek if i was pissing "people" off, you wouldn't be the only one replying. if you stopped replying then maybe i'd stop. no promises though :-P

  • 011001100110111101110010001000000111

    000001100101011001110110011101111001

    translates to "for peggy"

  • @CornyKok That's What I Got To..... WTF Dose It Mean????

  • Whats the binary at the end all about? I checked it out and it translates to several different things, none of which make any sense

  • fnD «;w Thats what the binary at the end translates to in text?

  • if a ipod needs a data signal to charge then how do you charge it with a wall plug in charger o.o?

  • why dont you prove me wrong then, remake the charger, and show me the cable running from the charger to the ipod, without running under the ipod or outside the camera view.

i work for apple research and development, your device with charge a regular mp3 player, blackberry but not an ipod, the ipod needs a data signal to charge

  • its fake, the ipod needs a signal through the data pins of the usb to charge and using a resistor to lower voltage? what not use a voltage regulator its easier to work with.

i dont know why people put these fake videos, its not gonna make u famous, its gonna make u more stupid than ever

  • @mylocky40 ok, if thats so then why do mains power supplies work and why does the usb Cell I made work... hmm

  • i dont know, what he mean the "left" and "right" prong of usb, pls tel me, + or -.

  • most deffinetially not a zenner diode

  • music is to loud

  • will it work with electrical tape instead of solder?

  • Yeah plug this thing into your computer and watch the sparks fly. XD

  • Was this filmed with a potato?

  • I made it an it only would charge my phone

  • a 7805 would work better

  • Fck apple thumb up

  • @Justmyside

Apologies if I am wrong, but I don't think it is possible to differentiate between raw electric currents, as they are a consistent flow. USB ports are handled by the motherboard, not the OS, so Apple can only prevent different software sending signals to the iPhone, but if there is no interface, there is no way for apple software to regulate flow, that is how car/mains chargers work

  • wow!! now i can charge my laptop haha!!

  • Do i understand it correctly by saying that the zener diode is soldered to both prongs of the usb socket and the resistor is soldered in between the + from the battery and + on the usb socket?

  • The problem with this circuit is that there will always be a 46mA drain on the battery, in addition to what your USB device pulls, if I have done my math correctly. Also, if I have done my math correctly, the USB device would only be able to draw 78mA off the battery, so it would be very limited what it will run.

  • A few months back, Apple sent an Itunes patch that would only allow Apple charging products to charge an Iphone.

    This will not work anymore.

  • v.good

  • can i use 5 v zener diode instead of 5.1v? 5.1v is not available in my area.. also plz upload the drawing of the circuit... thankx in advance

  • Fuck! my mom saw that and now she wants me to build up so i can charger it when im out of battery away from home >.<

  • can i charge my nokia 3110 moblie using system power(usb port)

  • what

  • it is SOLDER not SODDER. There's an l in it for a reason. speak properly please

  • you can burn out your ipod,phone.....

  • i made this and tryed to charge my phone and it said bad conected charger and the battery was fulley charged in seconds i tested it with my multy meter and it says the oute put is still 9v and it wonte charge my ipod when i conect it

  • can u use a 390 ohm resistor plz reply??

  • i made this and put it into an Altoids tin

  • Am I the only one who noticed that he is soldering on carpet and right next to the battery?

  • that you use a resistor?? how many watts?

  • OMG :o Very Good thank you , :)

  • I have a crappy USB charger for 6 volts it sucks like hell

  • i dont get hte joke with: will it blend?

    i dont get it!

  • @xXAkitokunXx /watch?v=qg1ckCkm8YI ;)

  • Too bad the iphone was really plugged into the wall behind the camera while you plugged a spare iphone cord into your contraption trying to trick us

  • i cant understand plz tell me what i have to make this charger?????

  • how much does a battery like that load up an iphone?

  • .cum

  • what would happen if you dont use the resistor or the diode

  • @DaygoVlogs you would create a short circuit in the battery and it could heat up and start a fire

  • @goodriddance11945678 gee thank ialmost tried it

  • this is like one of the only videos that accually workss lol

  • did anyone els notice he was soddering on carpet

  • wow u sound like a pedo

  • where can i find a resister and the diode?

  • @mamaxlolXDlol radio shack

  • aproximatly how much would all that cost i was thinking i could make 1 of thease

  • using a zener diode to lower volt with 9V Battery are fool way! It has a lot of loss!!

  • @Rawwwrr96 at radioshack or any other place that u know would carry those kinds of things

  • @em2894 it should charge fully

  • About how much Ipod battery will one 9V battery charge?

  • why on all of these videos do they pronounce the word Solder, as Sodder?

Is it really that difficult to say it correctly?

  • @ZagatoZee because it really is pronounced "Sodder". Or more accurately, /ˈsädər/

  • Notice he never shows the whole cable. Fake and gay

  • is it possible to do it while still keeping the black wiring protection of the USB cable/head?

  • nothing it worked the same

  • What happens if you don't put the diode thingys in?

  • i made one of these and it worked it was cool

  • i made one of these and it worked

    it was cool

  • where can i get a five volt regulator at?

  • Not the best idea to solder on the carpet...

  • the iphone is gonna charge the battery]

  • Comment removed

  • @autismepure That is the guestion

  • @autismepure no but it will fit in a manila envelope!

  • @rmasso38 iphones are now 50$ just saying.

  • Cool but id dont think i can get this stuff

  • buybuy dady

  • i dont understand this. he has terrible quality camera and describes it terribley.

  • That can fry his battery

  • I don't get how this can possibly work!

I = V / R So even before you add anything you have 330 Ohms in series limiting the current to 9v / 330 Ohms = 27mA... not enough to do anything with! (Or is that somehow off?)

My iPod 5.5G is "rated 5-30v" (as stated on the back, so I think I could put 9v directly into it). Not sure about an iPhone tho!

  • In the binary code (in the last scene with rabbit) are write "for peggy"

    XD!

  • Where can u get a female USB w/out ripping it out

  • @TwistrTot33 Buy some from digikey or jameco.com

  • how long would a normal 9v last you and there is already a device at radio shack similar to this for S9.99 its nice rectangular and compact charges iphones and micro usb i believe and u just simply insert 2 AA batteries i think if you buy the materials for this it would wind up being the same price but if you just wanna do it for fun its a pretty neat project

  • How can you add a switch? Can someone tell me i need to do it for my tech project

  • it loooks sus becuase not all of the cord is in the picture for all i know you could be shuving the other end up your ass

  • jajaja haganlo y diganle adios asus aparatos

  • thats sexy

  • Awesome....

  • @frosty1433 is someone jealous?

  • I bet he had two usb wire :D thumbs up :D

  • COMMUNISM !

  • I can't find place to buy female usb port T_T..RIP my netbook usb port :D..thax it work

  • I iust bought one at a radioshack for one or two bucks a while ago. Just go to the bigger stores, usually not the ones tucked away in the mall

  • where's the FB link ?

  • 2:44 for pegvw

  • too bad this guy has ruined his reputation with me, and I don't believe a single thing he says. but hey... his stupid video worked and has gotten over a million views. good for him.

  • or you can keep you normal battery...

  • zener diode is a good voltage regulator when dealing with small amount of current, less than 100 mA. I don't think it can do a good job; charging a device that requires 200mA-500mA.

  • It works, just don't expect to get much out of it. 9V batteries don't hold a lot of charge.

  • at 2:10 you can't see the wire anymore. Ironic when hes hooking it up?

  • Do NOT make this as it DOES NOT work with modern iPods. Good vid tho :)

  • @Scoonezy132 doesnt work with iphones/itouches because of apple, not because of the circuit

  • now i can charge my iphone wherever i go

  • i prefer no destroy my iphone,pay a usb for 20$

    i dont prefer destroy my iphone,pay a battery a cable etc........for 50$

  • awesome

  • Comment removed

  • 450+ people didnt see the rabbit at 2:44 XD

  • co sa asy!

  • hu the fuck will have all of these things

  • Another way, would be to move out of your mom's house.. get a job.. then go buy a battery charger for a few dollars. I'm just sayin'. But other than the voltage issues that could cause problems.. and the fact that a 9v battery to charge your iphone is about the least cost efficient way to do it in the world.. sure.. pretty cool idea. ;)

  • @ReCLaIM25 stfu troll

  • binary at the end translates to "for peggy"? wtf???

  • Win battery is win.

  • Extra life:)my iphone is happy

  • if you want to add a switch take the negative wire from the battery and solder it to one side of a switch and than take where that wire conics and solder that wire on the other side of the switch and wala :)

  • I love all his posts !!!!! keep up the good work :)

  • im sure this dude was working before 20 years or so for the CIA and now he is 21 or so and hes show us the old scool tricks.

  • Hello, I am an Electrical Engineer, and i can tell you that this will work to charge any device that uses a USB. BUT... and it is a big BUT, some electronics are sensative to how much voltage is given. USB wants a 5V on that red wire and not 9V from battery. it depends on the specific device about whether it is within range. the best option is to chip in an extra dollar into this circuit and buy a 5V voltage regulator (look up a 7805 at radio shack) the extra dollar protects your $500 iphone
