You'd have to know old English, Shakespearean, way of speaking to translate accurately with equivalent meaning. Common basic ghetto English will not do to accurately translate from any poetic way of communicating. Well, if we at least try to speak properly then it's all we can do... Absolutely talented artist this man was! I am sure he is sorely missed by his admirers.
I have heard many versions of this songs. I like many of them but this one is very unique to Khmer. The guitar playing flows smoothly along the crispy voice make me wanting to go home. Thank you for your nice work to appreciate the old master.
Aww, this is a great song...it sure does bring back memories.. the first time i'd heard this song it was sung by some1 who's also very good and still living.. hehe ...lok ta Sin Sisamuth was one of the best...and im pretty sure he's missed by many...thank you so much for sharing, sarnserm (*_*)
You're right about it being a sampling of the original. The oldies artists (Sin Sisamuth) knew how to take a song and put their own flavor to it, rather than just straight copy, which is what they do nowadays.
i really love this song...it makes me fell calm... but also makes me sad.. i love " Pruse Sa-ek Bong Bek, Bek Chgay Pi Chor-nai, Tngai-na Ning Choub Teat Leouy..." part.. so SAD... T_T
do you realize how deep the meanings of khmer songs are...you cannot translate it all into english cus the words are so powerful...its difficult to come upon an english word that matches it...man thats awesome!!! thanks for sharing!
BeahHappy, you're so right about that. I admit my translation does not do justice to the song's intended meaning. I'm only trying to give a bits and pieces to what I think the song is expressing. To accurately translating the song, especially keeping its emotion intact, I'll need a whole lot more tools than I can possibly acquire. Hope the world will find the work helpful.
Yes, yes,,,, thank you for the translation. I must say that i tend to tune in to Khmer's song more often on you tube, ,due to the enlish translation. I know Khmer words are so profound in meaning and it's kinda difficult to find English words to suite it. But, yes, i do appreciate your work, time and for posting this on youtube.:)
that is so TRUE about trying to translate any song WORD TO WORD even English or Spanish song because WORD has so profound Meaning in Each song. But you did a VERY GOOD JOB.Keep UP Man.
yea, there are alot of romantic words in khmer songs more than the english language can translate and transplant the same emotion that are embeded in the khmer songs-just my opinion.
the great, meaningful song of the cambodian golden-voiced singer.
where is the scenery of this video taken from
I used to listen to this song for many times.
but perhaps this song was sung and recorded in the two seperated time because the one which I used to listen to is abit different from this. that is the end of the song; sinn sisamouth used the simple tone, not the high tone as he used in this one.
Thanks. It wasn't an easy task, since I'm not that familiar with romantic expressions from either culture. If the translation helps the viewer understand somewhat what the song is about, I'm satisfied.
I sang it,too. Its sound is very different from his other masterpieces. I don't think there will anyone that can come close to Lok Sin sisamouth. In addition to Khmer tunes, he could sing to Latin, French, Hindi, Country, rock, Waltz, and even Jazz...and more. Who can compare to his versatile talents...or prodigy.
Do you know if there is a Khmer karaoke version to this song?
House Of the Rising Sun Sung by Sinn Sisamouth ( King Of music ) beautiful song I just love it thanks for sharing !

You're welcome. Glad I could share it.
All the video footages and images were taken during excursions around town. I wish I have video footages from Cambodia.
I didn't know that there is another classic version to this song, especially sung by Mr. Sin Sisamouth. I'd love to hear "simple tone" version.
