Absolute tops me hearties. Love it. Xmas nite 2011 and pumpin'. Givin' me old hips a workout, doin' the wounded wallaby dance and cruisin. Thanks for posting. From the old Aussie.
Saw them in the Glasgow Cathouse in the early 90s - first class example of what usd to be called 'pub rock'. This is a great song...and, it's true kids.
@JeanneDarkDancer7 And unfortunately it will never change. After birth, school, and work, I welcome death! What good is life? We spend 5 of 7 days every week chained to a freaking desk!
I just came back tonight for another well needed listen, but had to chuckle at the paradox: A banner "WATCH NOW VEVO EXCLUSIVE LADY GAGA "JUDAS" is plastered across the bottom of the video as the song plays...! Does anybody else see the sheer irony of this?!!! "Lady Gaga" in the same view as "The Godfathers"!! Talk about your ultimate betrayals...Judas.... (Sigh) When will they ever learn? When will THEY EVER LEARN?
Heard this today on XM 33. Great station. Great Music. Beats any FM station to death. Hell, Program Directors dont have the balls to be this creative and play this on FM.
@DaJuggernate Well, there always going to be a few that go against the norm. Sorry to generalize, but, I think you know I was referring to todays crap on FM.
Used to tape Rage in Aussie years ago. If a song caught my ear strait away , it was recorded to cassette. Most of the many songs are still playing on my outdated stereo int he garage and this is one of them . Top shitezen. Luv it. From the old Aussie. Carry onskie.
Oh yay, it's 11 PM now, and I get up at 5:20 AM. Another day, another dollar, they say. Oh wait, I've been dead for how long?? I guess I never realized it; my time card didn't say anything about it. How I'd love to have this song blaring, as I trail off into another....sunset....
as i read my bible more i'm re-understanding the '80s... this song is straight new age testimonial. how and why pop culture doesn't talk about the christian aspect of music is just amazing...
As much as I like this song (and owned the cd), The Cult's "Electric" absolutely blew just about anything else out of the water at the time. There was a specific reason that Rick Rubin was brought in to produce The Cult. And let's just say that there is more than just a little bit of influence from ACDC throughout it.
That's why today, Bon Jovi sounds dated and weak in comparison and "Electric" still sounds raw and powerful.

I believe the Michael Caine movie they're referring to is The Hand. This song came out way before Get Carter.
VoodooCurse1 6 months ago
@VoodooCurse1 No it didn't. Get Carter was made in '71, and The Godfathers formed in the mid 80's.
Or are you just trying to be a wag?

The Godfathers were nominated for best new group on the MTV music awards unfournately it was the same year as Guns and Roses.

The Micheal Caine film could be "Get Carter".

When he says "I felt torture, I felt pain, just like that film with Michael Caine," what film is he referring to?

Man i have to thank my mate Perre once again for such a great suggestion of music!
Since he played the album "More songs about love&hate" im stuck for it, seems theres alot great bands like this from Australia.
Flash and The Pan
The Stranglers
The Church.. to name a few.
And i love the facial expression of this singer in Godfathers:
Sick&tired, angry,pissed, apathic..the whole register

As much as I like this song (and owned the cd), The Cult's "Electric" absolutely blew just about anything else out of the water at the time. pop music was limp turgid or both until this LP was released in 1987. This record
along with the Cult's "Electric" and Bon Jovi 'Slippery When Wet" saved RnR's day
