  • Looks like the Charge is the same as the Wave I just lost. Trying to figure out what to replace it with. I was all into this SOG, but the blades just have to be on the outside. I like the gearing on the SOG and the one handed pliers deployment. The Wave has the important tools on the outside and the pliers need some assist to get out with one hand, like your thigh, a tree, even an elbow. I'm going to to have to rethink this and not get distracted by cool flat black finish.

  • Great review nutn. I just wish your gerber multi-tool reviews that I recently watched were this good. Not sure why emotions seem to be running high in the comments on this video... seemed like a thorough and objective review to me!

  • I in my like the leatherman charge tti because it has those quick access blades. But the size does disappoint me, because I like a heavy duty full size dependable multi tool. But they should make a knife with the compound leverage and you should be able to customize your knife with the tools you would use in your situation or your crisis. Overall I would go with the leatherman charge.

  • You haven't done a part 2

  • I've used the SOG in the army... something similar to it is issued to the Singapore army. I found that it had horrible rust resistance, poor blade material (the tip snapped off under low loads). Handle covers did not fit well and closed with an unsatisfying and cheap scratching sound. I would very much prefer the wave variants as getting a knife out with one hand is invaluable. The SOG needs one to open the tool, pull out the handle cover, and pull out the knife. Leatherman would win this imo.

  • @zengmingde if im not mistaken they are made in china, so thats to be expected. americans dont make very many products anymore, but the products still made here are usually very well made.

  • I personaly like blade out in my multi tools...Thanks for the vid....also appreciate the Victorinox vids...you da man!

  • Well, as far as the camouflage leatherman goes for use in the woods. in the words of the great Ted Nugent "I don't need no camouflage knife...No Sir" that is to say that it is much easier to get lost.

  • I'm a Combat Engineer in the Marine Corps and I own a few mt's including both of these. Both are great tools, but I personally like carrying the SOG with the C4 spike in the field. It's quicker to use and deploy for me. With the SOG you only need to crimp blasting caps one time because it crimps it evenly and cleanly. Others I've used like the Gerbers, leathermans, and actual EOD pliers you have to crimp more than once which can cause the cap to go off.

  • Those dreaded coverings over the tools are removable.

I couldn't stand them either so I took mine off. It's a little uncomfortable on the hands when using the pliers tho. I found my powerlock for $20 a while ago, and if it wasn't for the price, I'd have a Leatherman by now, hands down.

  • i just took the handle covers off of my powerlock. it worked great after that. never had a leatherman yet so i wouldn't know how good they are, but i do think the sog was a fine tool, unfortunately i say was because i left mine under my hood when i drove off and never saw them again.

  • Leatherman tools don't stand up to everyday use as a mechanic they save trips to the box I got tired of my leathermans literally falling apart in my hand switched to sog and have not any problems at all nice tool they obviously use a much better grade of steal but leathermans just have a better name in the world of multitools not better quality

  • Hah! Hell hath no fury... Always enjoy your comments Veri.

  • I've had the SOG Powerlock EOD for over 6 months now. Besides the cumbersome way to deploy the tools, my biggest gripe with this mulit-tool is how weak the Philips bit is. I work on aircraft and use the Philips & flat blade drivers a lot. Unfortunately, if you apply too much torque on the Philips bit, it snaps right off (looks weak to begin with). The SOG Co. was quick to send me replacement bits free of charge but, to this date, I have gone through 5 of the bits so far. Very frustrating!

  • Eh sog powerlock is just not very good, from what I see so far. I have leatherman wave which is very similar to this charge. I would personally not buy this sog coming from leatherman but - each their own I guess.

  • wow dude! your sister is a bitch. How about disableing comments if you dont like them?

Great review man...just keep your sisters attitude in check

  • @BIZZLEIVXX How so? I've always found Veri to be quite polite if you don't make rude comments.

There's really no reason for her to respond politely if someone's being a dick.

  • @BIZZLEIVXX You're a delicate little flower, aren't ya? If you don't like my attitude or comments...find somewhere else to play. -- Veri

  • I got a SOG powerlock for $20 on a daily deal website. I love it! especially for the price.

  • Well, I think that this review does need to updated. The Powerlock has been updated, and for PETE's SAKE review two tools that are the SAME size. Leatherman makes more tools than the Charge and SOG has other tools besides the Powerlock. Just because the Charge is your favorite multitool, you shouldn't compare it to everything else. You wouldn't compare it to a full tool kit? Didn't think so... I have both a Leatherman and a SOG, both good, both different.

  • @blatantevil7

From where you are coming, valid points (made probably after consuming inordinate amounts of caffeine). However, these are the exact two tools I am currently deciding between so this is not only the PERFECT review for me, but well-done to boot! Thank you, Nutnfancy... 2 thumbs up.

  • Sog power assist

  • When it comes to multi tools, there is the best (Leatherman), and the rest (SOG, Voctoronox, Gerber, Stanley, etc)

  • Nutnfancy, get a SOG powerassist, they are worth their weight in gold

  • SOG is a better muti tool. Your cumbersome!!!!!!!!

  • SOG. MAKES EXCELLENT MUTI TOOLS. the pliers does not get any better.

  • Hmmm, wheres part 2??? Searched all through youtube, let me know!! Always the last place im sure ...... Thanks!

  • Sog is a folding plier foremost, no surprise they're the best. The implements are decent but unlike the pliers will leave you wishing you had a dedicated knife or screwdriver. Fair enough. Sog reached its stride with the older powerplier. I own three. The LM is a genuine multitool. It does a few tricks but being designed around a philosophy and not a particular tool it does nothing uniquely well. It leaves me wishing I had, well, my Sog.

  • Based on your videos I ended up with the Charge Tti and am quite happy with it, but not before I tried (and retunred) a Wave and a Juice S2 - I also tried out the Powerlock S60 and love it - the pliers are a modern marvel in my opionion. The rest of the parts are not quite up to par with the Tti but pretty close, I also really like the finish of the SOG. The "flippy" deployment is a win too although I can basdh a knuckle if I'm not careful.

  • @nutnfancy

U should review the sog powerassist, it seems that u would like it more

Thanks for the vid, i feel that the 2 mts are n different categories, but still

  • Worst review i have ever seen! You can not compare a bird with an elefant!

  • @1DJATone1 Its "elephant", moron. And I suspect the rest of this review was well over your head. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @nutnfancy Moron? Thats not very nice. My english skills are not the best, just because its not my native language. But who cares? Compare the SOG with a more similar tool like the LM supertool and everything will be fine.

  • @1DJATone1 I'm supposed to be nice to the guy who rolled in acting like a horse's ass and calling this video the "worst review I have ever seen"? Get real... If you don't like it, make a better one on YOUR channel, but don't troll this one and expected to be treated with kid gloves. I'm not interested in making everything "fine" for you...if you don't like the review, do better yourself or piss off. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Moron? Thats not very nice. My english skills are not the best, just because its not my native language. But who cares? Compare the SOG with a more similar tool like the LM supertool and everything will be fine.

  • @1DJATone1 Apparently your posting skills are not the best either.... You just needed to reply once, not 3 times. I stand by my assertation. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy Moron? Thats not very nice. My english skills are not the best, just because its not my native language. But who cares? Compare the SOG with a more similar tool like the LM supertool and everything will be fine.

  • @1DJATone1 Well it's not the worst review but I do think a fairer comparison would be the Core vs Powerlock or Supertool 300 vs Powerlock

  • I'm surprised at how many people want comparisons between things as similar as possible. Actually, in today's society maybe it's not so surprising. But, sometimes people compare things that are different! If someone is looking at a Rezound phone would you call them to the carpet for not comparing it to a Galaxy Nexus, or would it be "fair" enough to compare it an iPhone 4S? He is comparing to tools he likes, not two tools that are going to double for each other in a movie!

  • whats this BAM feature that he keeps talking about?

  • I think leatherman is A multi tool brand and SOG is a knife company and thats why leatherman has the multitool down pat, Even though SOG claims it was the first to make the multi tool leatherman brought the "perfected" multitool to the masses, i think the leatherman is a better all purpose tool the SOG is a great set of pliers but falls short in every other category the leatherman is an average set of pliers but excels in every other way I use the "Core" for EDC and the "Wave" camping

  • u can balisong a Wave (and probably a charge) to.

  • weight wise advantage charge? i thought you just said it was a tie

  • Nutn, try the SOG S66-N PowerAssist. It may be more to your liking.

  • The handle covers can be removed from the tool itself, making the components much easier to acces

  • Not to give any offence, you use your personal opinion on products more often than the actual quality. You have a default to the leatherman, therefore you should be more professional and judge upon quality.

  • dude that cabella's edition is truly cool!

  • Update your review of the SOG they have changed it

  • I have a sog power lock that my father passed down to me after he retired from the marines. this multi tool is 25 years old and has been to Iraq twice. theres is no flaws in the multi-tool. so if you want something that you know can be used hard in the most extreme condition for YEARS pick the sog power lock.

  • BIASED REVIEW

  • what do you thunk about the wave

  • link to part two please

  • where did u get the charge tti

  • Hey Nutn, what do you think about the Leatherman MUT? Will you be doing a review on it soon?

  • NO part 2. You can actually open the Charge with one hand. Read up on it!

  • There appears to be no Part 2.

  • the leatherman is cool except for that unsightly camo

  • man i bught my leatherman charge AL 5 months ago and it rocks!!! but really expencive here in norway... in us dollers it is around 240$ in norwegian KR *kroner* it is around 1400 kr thats a LOT of money to spend for a 14 year old kid ... but you now what... its whort everithing i payd fo it great review

  • SOG all the way!

  • This was just a one sided review of the leatherman, you didn't even give the sog a chance. In my opinion, SOG is a much better tool build and design wise. Leatherman is OVER-RATED!!!

  • SOG Rocks! I gave all my Leatherman Multi tools a way. all hype!not worth the price ,just pretty. SOGS are built to last, and upgrade.

  • SOG Rocks! I gave all my Leatherman Multi tools a way. all hype!not worth the price ,just pretty.

  • biased

  • Would love to see you review the sog power assist against that leatherman

  • hey nutn i dont know about your other viewers but i would like to see more vs comparitive reviews very imformative when in the market for that item

  • wife bought me the sog b61 for xmas.. it wil replace my gerber 400 sport... can't wait to put it to use... the gerber 400 was a great every day pocket tool. the sog is obviously more heavy duty and as an outdoor, camping, electrician I will be sure to put it throught the ringer.. its amazing how many times I put the gerber to usen on an everyday basis, I don't know how people live without one

  • Comment removed

  • All-do-respect, but I really think you should look back on the SOG Powerplier / Powerlock multi-tools. Sure, it doesn't have the convienence of externally acessible tools, but some things you must consider is that SOG encourages you to take it apart to maintain the tool - there are very few gimmicky and moving parts that lead it to breakage like some other MTs. Not to mention, you can customize the tool with components on the SOG website to fit your needs.

To me, this tool is built like a tank

  • I just got the SOG Powerlock MT Model Number B62 and I think it's the best one out there right now and you can get it pretty cheap on Amazon!

  • I love how he goes out of his way to fumble with the SOG to make it look like much more of a hassle than it is.

  • you have no "PART 2 " it has been 2 years

  • @killlerr2 maybe he had a type promblem and didnt mean part 1

  • and the charge wins!... again

  • Thanks buddy that was the most boring video I've ever watched....

  • wheres the second part of the video?

  • DAMN nunfancy... get off the Charge's nuts... not biased, my ass...

  • Comment removed

  • lol this one is bias

  • Surprised Nutn doesn't have a review on the Powerassist. It's almost like having two Flash 1's built into the handle.

  • Nutn where's part 2?

  • ware is the second video?

  • where is the second part? anyone?

  • From my perspective, weight and size give the SOG PowerLock a distinct advantage, it's built to take abuse better than a trailer-park bleached blonde. Being longer makes it easier to use and gives it more leverage in my experience. An added plus is that it is long and weighty enough to use as a very effective kubotan in self defense. (As was proven on an unruly and unsavory character at a Detroit truckstop at 0-dark:30 a few years ago.)

  • @LovetheVayne I was thinking the exact same thing about the Powerassist

  • You can pop the tool covers off the powerlock.

I popped them off mine and it has made it easier to get the tools out quicker

  • @joeratti is there anything you would recommend?

  • I'd give name my first born TNP for part 2 of this.

  • what is the tool on the powerlock that looks like you would connect things to it? i never could figure out what it does

  • i agree with the powerlocks downfalls although i bought one about five years ago for the one handed pliars ability mostly and in that they are great. I want a leatherman for everything else. also, one of the machine screws fell out luckily i had one that worked or i would be without a blade etc...

  • NO WAY IN HELL are you in the Marines. you sound lazy as fuck. imma go with army, navy?

Leave for Parris Island, SC jan. 24th. but good video by the way

  • Hey nutnfancy,

Im a novice diver looking for a multi tool...do you think the Leatherman Charge TTI would be durable enough for dives in salt water?

    Thanks!

  • SOG = easy 2 clean

    more important for me

  • SOG is so much better than leatherman. love my SOG Power Assist

  • It would cost less for materials, and be easier to use, if the SOG had rolled edges similar to a SuperTool 300, rather than the tool covers.

I can't figure out why they put those on the tool...

  • the SOG is a way better tool than the charge

  • Wheres part 2????????

  • nice pocket knifes they are awesome

  • Biggie is having the blades, etc on the outside. I've used a SwissTool for years and they've done that same thing.

  • is the gerber evo tanto blade a good knive

  • HEY!!!!!!!!!!!! Nutn wat are u thinkin with comparing a leatherman to a SOG......LEATHERMAN WINS HANDS DOWN LOL

  • dsssv

  • hello

  • how lazy are you dude. complaining about having to lift the covers, you should be ashamed

  • you should do a super tool 300 vs charge tti

  • lol he finally made a mistake he said the s4 juice it's the s2 juice lol

  • another excellent, clinical review.

  • do you own a SOG twitch II they are awsome

  • are the tti handles comfortable to use the blade with

  • =p nutnfancy you can 1 hand open a charge just doesnt go all the way open the stretch your fingers out and you can open it.

  • no part 2?

  • Hi Nutnfancy, great video,i have one of these cabelas charges sound a bit fussy but i've found the coating is coming of the handles a bit, could you recomend a touch up paint which might work.

  • I'll trade you the Cabela Charge for a 24k gold plated Surge that was given to me by the President of Leatherman.

  • Can i trade for the charge :) good vid

  • Part 2 is where?

  • is the 2nd part gone?

  • also, one thing i really like about the SOG EOD is it fits perfectly into a .45 cal single stack mag pouch. it makes it easy to strap onto your gear.

  • the handle covers can come off.

  • why scream???????

  • The sog is us manufactured;moreover, it is visual appealing! thanks for your military service!

  • thanks for the review. i got the wave, but that ltd edition looks great. are you doing a part 2?

  • You should compare the charge with a real multitool not that shit!

  • SOG suck's Charge ROCK'S

  • @ALISTAIR349 I like the SOG better than the Charge . . . . now the Surge, now THATS a multitool! As a proud SOG owner . . . I'm upgrading to something much more finely engineered.

  • You guys, just type your comment, and look for the green "ok" to see if it posts. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy cool

  • Comment removed

  • @ZeroToleranceKnives I deleted it, but I still see it in the comment area.

  • @fluse5555 I nuked it - This new YT comment format is yucky. -- Veri

  • @ZeroToleranceKnives I'll make a deal with you. If you delete your remark, I'll delete mine.

  • wares part 2

  • I picked up a Powerlock EOD based on this and cutlerylover's review. I think my model is a bit newer than his because the compound leverage gears on my tool have more cover and protection. The tool clumping issue also seems to be fixed because they've placed washers between certain tools.

  • yeah wheres part 2?

  • Leatherman rocks!!! Great customer service too!

  • lol great Nutn Just great!!!!!

  • How do the pliers stack up against the supertool 300? Would the comparison be a little more "fair" if it was the SOG vs. Supertool?

  • @teknifix

I think that you have a good point there, but the size of the knife and file may be closer to the size of the charge rather than the Supertool.

My critiques are that the powerlock runs about $60 and the Cabela Charge runs bout $120.

I also think that he's being a bit harsh on the Powerlock's handle cover, as in my own experience I find that over time the covers make the Powerlock much more comfortable to use than the charge.

  • I've never seen an actual powerlock, they're uncommon in Canada. I've held a charge. I think that this comparison is apples to oranges in some ways. The main example being the one handed opening tools. This would be a bit more fair if it was powerlock vs. supertool or powerassist vs. charge.

  • I agree completely.

  • @teknifix Exactly right, the tools are slightly different meant for different people, I would love to have both on my dresser every morning so I could decide what I wanted based on the daily activities

  • the charge is so damn sexy along with the sheath, I will never buy any multitool besides leatherman,

  • I picked up a SOG EOD powerassist. Much easier deployment of regular blade and serrated blade from the outside closed configuration. Blades snap out fast with the power assist. Other ancillary tools still access by folding it out and open the cover. Keep in mind that the cover is removeable. Picked the SOG up at Botach for a little under $50. Still though, the Swiss Tool is my favorite. Been using them for at least 10 years and love them.

  • I can't see the part 2 of the review... :(

  • All tools coming out at once is really personal preference if you think about it, i personally like just pulling on a tab, nick, whatever you call it.. and being able to pick what i want. But it is all personal preference, good vid.

  • He did not mention that the leatherman screwdriver bit can be pulled out and reversed to hold both the phillip's and the flat head bit. great vid though

  • Not a fair comparison IMHO. Charge TTI is approximately two times more expensive than Powerlock. Other than that - nice review!

  • Uh oh, my SOG PowerAssist straight edge is broken, blade steel I gotta say is a bit on the weaker side. But at the moment the biggest problem is probably something with the heat treating or welding of the blade retention bar which broke off completely, so once i slide the blade lock back it opens like an automatic

  • LM multitools may lead the way with innovative designs but in general fit and finish is substandard compared to Victorinox and SOG, my impression of the WAVE is good but liner locks were poorly executed and the main blade grind was crude. For one handed opening SOG Powerlock Assist can't be beat

  • Wanna trade!

  • Leatherman Charge TTi is a bit pricey over $100 bucks

  • You can take off the protective covers on the SOG Powerlock

  • where is part 2?????????

  • Comment removed

  • What about the safety of your fingers with the leatherman. the blades don't lock like the gerber I own and love and was the deciding factor in me getting the gerber. Also the fast deployment of the pliers is a plus (considering that you can get used to it) and if leatherman used some of these features I WOULD BUY THE PRODUCT IN A HEARTBEAT WITHOUT EVEN THINKING OVER GERBER.

  • i bought my first multi-tool two hours ago ^-^ its a leatherman blast, came with a leather belt sheath and a collectors tin, got it at target for $50 ^-^ i love it.

  • In my humble opinion, you should stop re-reviewing the charge. Sure it's a great tool, and it's great that you compare it against a control. But we know you like the charge, we don't need to hear about it in every single video. You may say yourself that you have no bias to one company, but clearly you do.

  • @mjmont92 yes,no doubt that no one is 0% biased. However, there is a good reason why nutn is biased. Because he understands and trusts that this manufacturer is doing a good job

  • @JoGenJG right, but mj's point is: we all get that. we don't need to see it re-hashed

  • @ActaSanctorum then, i apologise for misunderstanding

  • @mjmont92 He may prefer the charge, but that's the product, not the brand.

For example, it seems he would much prefer a SwissTool over a SuperTool 300 in his videos, because of the external blades that are easy-access, rather than the "traditional" SuperTool.

He isn't biased towards Leatherman, he just likes the charge as a multitool.

  • @mjmont92 true for multi-tools. but look at other things like knives. he carries sog, benchmade, kershaw, spyderco, cold steel, etc. so give him some room having mainly the charge.it just works.

  • @mjmont92 If a company puts out better products that you enjoy more then another company, it is not a bias.

  • @Ironmaiden666trp I cant believe im still getting stupid comments about this. He is supposed to be reviewing the SOG. But he just re reviews the Letherman in every multi tool review. I'm just saying it's not the best way to do a review. You could review a Ferrari against a Hyundai and give reasons why the Ferrai's better. But you're not telling them anything about the hyundai. It's clearly bias, look up the definition. And don't come back trying to defend yourself.
