Unless you live in Wisconsin where they don't allow you to keep a baby deer. One was taken in like this one and a court ordered the man who had it to turn it over to the DNR so they can euthanize it. This state will not let the public keep a wild animal as a tame pet, even tho it comes and goes from the wild into ones yard. One lady fed a tame deer. The DNR found out and they came into her yard and shot it in front of her. its blood all over her homes siding. A cruel state Wis for allowing this

I was looking online to find something on how to take care of baby deer. Last night I was coming home from work, and in the middle of the road was a deer that had been hit by a car. She was dying, and would not make it. I pulled off the road, and went and finished her so she would not suffer. The car that hit her was not around. I then saw a baby deer along side the road, it is a doe, and about the same size as yours. I took it home so it to wouldn't get killed, what do I do.

We named him Shanti (peace in Sanskrit). All the deer from the herd who happened to pass through the yard when he was there investigated him. There were about six or seven.

Orphaned deer sometimes are adopted by other mothers, but usually from the same herd. Our local elder mother deer Eva seemed like she might have taken an interest, but we couldn't be sure, and this little guy needed immediate attention.

My dad was driving home late on a hardly used road, it was very dark (one of those new moon nights) Out of no where a deer (doe) jumped in front of his Landrover. He felt so bad that he'd killed the deer, but he felt worse when the fetus inside got pushed out upon impact. Both died instantly, but he still feels horrible and drives a lot more cautiously at night, most times he tries to avoid night time driving.
