I don't mean to be unkind but the groomer seemed a little rough, I treat my baby like she is expensive and delicate glass,, perhaps this is why they don't want us to stay and watch. The only time I had my 8 yr old Yorkie pro groomed she came home and got blood on her blanket, I think they cut one of her little nipples, anyway that is when I got videos and clippers etc. and learned myself, blood could have come from a nail being cut to short.
It would be worst if the groomer was slicing the dogs neck...... the little fella is only get a summer trim..... and who is to say the terrier doesn't like it? Can you all read its mind?

Ive always wondered why some people buy long heared dogs like yorkies, maltese, or even shitzu and cut their fur short like this. I dont get it! If your didnt want to deal with long fur, then why get a long haired dog?
way to rough... this is why i learned to do my two myself , may not look as well as the professionals can do, but i know they are treated kindly when i do it, You were way to rough when combing trhe beard!
My Yorkies first cut looked like this when I asked for a puppy cut but wanted his body hair length about 3/4 inch. I cried when I got him back like this and HE even was upset and hid.

when i got my puppy he was a rescue and his hair was so matted they had to shave it all off like this...it is down to owner's preference but i can imagine that these active fun loving dogs enjoy the freedom of movement that a shorter cut gives
OMG, why did the owners allow this precious baby to be clipped like that. Its absolutely Horrible. I will understand it i,f this baby was flea ridden and matted ,and if that was the case the owners shouldnt have pets. POOR BABY. P.S if the groomer thinks this looks good, clients beware.
Mine is a "short haired" Yorkie so this is their typical summer cut. Their hair isn't silky and long like the "long haired" ones. Their hair grows more thick than in length so in order to not look tacky, it needs to stay pretty short.
true, this is not the most attractive cut I've seen on a yorkie, but if this yorkie is anything like mine, the hair grows back pretty fast. He's not hurting the dog. In a lot of scenes it looks like the dog is resting his head on the groomers hand. I only watched the first 5 minutes, but if he were hurting the dog I highly doubt the dog would just sit there calmly and let itself be "abused".
the only reason I can think of clipping a Yorkie to this extreme is if it was matted to the skin (other wise what is the point of owning a Yorkie)... The groomer did not hurt the dog in any way...the dog just looks bad with so little hair...
i don't comb the hair every cut i blow the hair away with air it works alot better and i comb after i get done cutting the hair off and becarefull you almost made the dog blind with thoughs scissors because you wasn't paying attention

That is not a Yorkshire Terrier cut. That is the scalping of a Yorkshire Terrier. Yorkies are not short haired dogs. If you want a short haired dog get one. Don't get a Yorkie and shave all it's fur off.
I don't see point cutting a yorkie this short, particularly not on the head. The owner should get another breed of a dog one that is short haired if they feel they have to put their dog through this regularly. This doesn't look like a yorkie anymore. Also perhaps using clipper would speed up the process and the dog would be done a lot quicker. I don't think they are overly rough but they are certainly not gentle.
@tinarett Ya he was a little rough, but there's nothing wrong with short fur around the face, its all a matter of opinion. And some ppl prefer shorted fur around the face for sanitary reasons as w/e a dog eats or drinks will get into their fur around the muzzle and I personally find it disgusing when a dog with a mustache get saliva all over it, It just looks yucky even its add personality or if you can't see the eye and than they get eye bugar in their fur. Its really gross.

I ask the same question when I see ppl cut Pomeranians really short. I've owned three silkie terriers (which look the same and have almost the same hair texture) and keeping their hair shorter keeps them more tangle free if they are able to get outside and be the curious, aggressive (hunters) dogs they are. A+ on the cute cut

great job! anyone who says this groomer doesnt know what they are doing is crazy!! The yorkie never bit, never yelped, and wasnt in any pain. And this obviously is what the customer wanted done....I just had a customer ask for the same hair cut. It's what the customer wants, and this is a very skilled groomer!!! I cant work my scissors like that!
Why didn't you just use the clippers to cut off all his hair inside of cutting and yanking the poor thing around by the chin? It would have been quicker and look just as BAD when you finished. Still looks like a chihuahua when you get done.

Wow, reading the comments on this video its clear the general public has no idea what goes into grooming dogs. Not every dog can be kept in a full yorkie show cut, most owners aren't responsible enough to keep up with that coat. As a groomer, I'd rather have owners get their dogs shaved regularly than try to keep them long and bring them in matted every time. The handling was not rough, you can't just trust every dog to keep its head in one spot when you are using sharp instruments.

@32laci Woah there, why such angry language? My comment was referring to the groomer holding the dog's head in place so that it wouldn't move. As a groomer, there is a good bit of handling and some restraint you have to do on every single dog in order to prevent injury from the dog moving into a sharp instrument. And experienced groomers are comfortable with their equipment so they may move faster than a newer groomer. Handling is for the dog's safety. No need for such horrible comments.
It's really not that serious. He did nothing to hurt the dog at all. So he didn't blow him kisses and take him running through a meadow. He did the job and the dog behaved perfectly. Most dogs enjoy being handled. I bet half of you sit on your fat asses and barely touch your dog or give them this much hands on attention, so stop being so dramatic.

I agree the person is FAR too rough handling this poor dog. Sadly, he must be accustomed to such cruel treatment, as he never once struggles or resists. Plus, as this is allegedly educational, they should think twice before posting a video which mostly features a big fat arm in the way!
This is total animal abuse. The poor dog wasn't groomed but shaved, 10 minutes of unnecessary suffering, while it had those scissors in its face, when the same end result could have been done in a matter of seconds with a shaver. Why would you get a Yorkshire terrier if you just want to cut all its hair off. That has to be the worst look I have ever seen on a yorkie.

for starters that is a horrible cut! That Yorkie is bald and that is not a classified cut for a Yorkie. Ok, the handling was a bit too rough and you absolutely could have given him some breaks. But if this all was done with a clipper, nobody would complain like crazy. There might have been risks in this technique but the puppy was NOT injured.

I dont agree with this lady.. i watched this video in hope of finding out to correctly cut my yorkies facial hair with out him looking like a tard. I have to cut his hair this short because I live in a heavy snow fall area and when he goes out side with Long Hair, he gets snowballs stuck in his hair and gets very cold. So Instead of having him endure that and then the blow dryer right after, we shave him and put him in his snow suite!

If you want to see what a yorkie should look like... see my videos...my little girl is happy, bouncy and full of confidence the way a yorkie should be...I handle her very gently when grooming and brushing her teeth and as a result i can do anything with her because she trusts me and she knows i won't hurt her.

I ask the same question when I see ppl cut Pomeranians really short. But hey I'd rather see a dog be clipped super short than neglected and allowed to grow long matted hair that cuz a dog pain and infections.

I've owned three silkie terriers (which look the same and have almost the same hair texture) and keeping their hair shorter keeps them more tangle free if they are able to get outside and be the curious, aggressive (hunters) dogs they are. A+ on the cute cut

@nenalizzz it's kind of cute...I had my yourkie cut this short one summer and I had them leave him a mohawk...it fit his personality to a T. That summer he also enjoy wearing his playboy masion security black wife beater...He was too cute all around.

POOR doggie, why do you scissor cut his whole head, you tug and pull too much on him and yorkies are suppose to have some hair it helps protect their dry skin. great job! anyone who says this groomer doesnt know what they are doing is crazy!! The yorkie never bit, never yelped, and wasnt in any pain. And this obviously is what the customer wanted done....I just had a customer ask for the same hair cut. It's what the customer wants, and this is a very skilled groomer!!! I cant work my scissors like that!

Why didn't you just use the clippers to cut off all his hair inside of cutting and yanking the poor thing around by the chin? It would have been quicker and look just as BAD when you finished. Still looks like a chihuahua when you get done.

Wow, reading the comments on this video its clear the general public has no idea what goes into grooming dogs. Not every dog can be kept in a full yorkie show cut, most owners aren't responsible enough to keep up with that coat. As a groomer, I'd rather have owners get their dogs shaved regularly than try to keep them long and bring them in matted every time. The handling was not rough, you can't just trust every dog to keep its head in one spot when you are using sharp instruments.

@32laci Woah there, why such angry language? My comment was referring to the groomer holding the dog's head in place so that it wouldn't move. As a groomer, there is a good bit of handling and some restraint you have to do on every single dog in order to prevent injury from the dog moving into a sharp instrument. And experienced groomers are comfortable with their equipment so they may move faster than a newer groomer. Handling is for the dog's safety. No need for such horrible comments.

It's really not that serious. He did nothing to hurt the dog at all. So he didn't blow him kisses and take him running through a meadow. He did the job and the dog behaved perfectly. Most dogs enjoy being handled. I bet half of you sit on your fat asses and barely touch your dog or give them this much hands on attention, so stop being so dramatic.

This is total animal abuse. The poor dog wasn't groomed but shaved, 10 minutes of unnecessary suffering, while it had those scissors in its face, when the same end result could have been done in a matter of seconds with a shaver. Why would you get a Yorkshire terrier if you just want to cut all its hair off. That has to be the worst look I have ever seen on a yorkie.

for starters that is a horrible cut! That Yorkie is bald and that is not a classified cut for a Yorkie. Secondly, for such a small dog the way you handled that dog was extremely rough and grabbing it by it's neck was unacceptable. if i were to ever take my yorkie to your place, i would have reported you to the bbb. I hope you have since learned to handle your dogs better and have gone to grooming school.

I just watched the whole video and read the comments, and I really can't see a reason for calling ASPCA.
Ok, the handling was a bit too rough and you absolutely could have given him some breaks. But if this all was done with a clipper, nobody would complain like crazy. There might have been risks in this technique but the puppy was NOT injured.
And come on guys, the dog doesn't know what a yorkie should look like, so it doesn't hurt him not to look like a breed standard..

At 7:34 the poor thing was grabbed by his neck for repositioning!! That poor dog is probably traumatized for life at a groomer, now even a gentle groomer will have to deal with a psychologically damaged dog. WAY TOO ROUGH! This is a living creature, not a lifeless object just to make money on!!! Not to mention, a horrible cut. Anyone can cut a dog almost bald. It takes talent to do a proper job.

I dont agree with this lady.. i watched this video in hope of finding out to correctly cut my yorkies facial hair with out him looking like a tard. I have to cut his hair this short because I live in a heavy snow fall area and when he goes out side with Long Hair, he gets snowballs stuck in his hair and gets very cold. So Instead of having him endure that and then the blow dryer right after, we shave him and put him in his snow suite!

If you want to see what a yorkie should look like... see my videos...my little girl is happy, bouncy and full of confidence the way a yorkie should be...I handle her very gently when grooming and brushing her teeth and as a result i can do anything with her because she trusts me and she knows i won't hurt her.
