The main reason for people spinning off was the regulation preventing multiple types of wet weather tyre - Bridgestone teams only brought intermediates, which turned out to be insufficient for the conditions.

@ale03000 Also, when Schumacher went off, only turn 3 was standing water - the rest of the track was merely damp. That and the changing water flow from the drainage ditches above T3 was a big problem.

É galera nesse aí eu tava-lembro que nesse dia choveu choveu e choveu em São Paulo (foi um verdadeiro diluvio). Tbém, minha aventura já começou na saída, pois a fome de ver esse GP era tamanha (aliás, diga-se de passagem, foi a primeira vez que tinha visto uma corrida de F1 ao vivo e a cores) q saímos de Porto Velho abordo de um GOL 1.0 para ver tal evento eu e um BRODI lá de Porto, dias que jamais sairão da minha memoria; 1 dia verei essa corrida ao vivo novamente!

To me this is the most memorable race in all of the 'post-Häkkinen era'. Since cars were going off all the time it was very exciting to watch and you couldn't be sure that anyone would make it to the end. A big part of it is also that Kimi took his second win (in two races) and had a huge lead in the championship, which I would've never imagined before the season. But then of course the result was changed a few days later to a win for Fisichella but still.

How come? Kimi and Fisi had been fighting for the lead for many laps and DC was down in fourth.

Make that Kimi and Fisi were fighting over the lead for 1 lap, 2 at the most. Coulthard had come into the pits with over 20 seconds advantage for a normal fuel and tyre stop and rejoined behind Fenando with the top 3 all set to stop again.. and then the red flag came out!

Ok, didn't remember that. Well, wet weather races are very unpredictable and who knows what would've happened if the race hadn't been red flagged. Perhaps somebody else than DC, Kimi or Fisi would've won even since people ran off all the time.

Fact Fisichella blew up (misfire) in parc ferme might have meant he'd have scored nil poi as well

Yes, really poor timing with the red flag from a McLaren point of view. On the other hand McLaren might've blown an engine too if they continued, who knows. DC blew his the race before or if it was a gearbox problem or what it was.

Ja I always said DC should and could have won the first 3 races of 03, in Malaysia he did get a Gearbox problem whilst running 2nd behind Alonso, could have been because of the Trulli-Schumacher incident on the first lap.

he should have won there though but it wasn't too much harm for McLaren because Kimi won instead.

Well, there's been a lot of 'should haves' with McLaren over the years. It's going to be interesting to see if Lewis will win the title this year or it that's going to be another 'should have'. Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if he had an engine failure in Brazil. Especially with the problems Heikki's had lately.

I'll give you 2 more what ifs for Mclaren....what if there was no red flag at the 1996 Belgain Gp...Hakkinen would have won that race with his 1 stop strategy by a long way, what if Hakkinen would have waited behind alesi instead of trying to pass him in Portugal in 1993....Or Senna's engine had not blown up........what if Hakkinen would not have gone one lap too long for his stop at Monza in 1997 and not ran out of fuel on the way in that cost him 5 seconds.....lots of for that team

How did they finish?Fisichella 1st, and Raikkonen 2nd, Alonso 3rd, Coulthard 4th, Frentzen 5th, Villeneuve 6th and Trulli was 8th...but why some places says that Webber was 7th or Ralf was 7th?who finished 7th and 9th? (good race ever!)

This race was awesome. Throughout the weekend there was non-stop excitment. However, if Mark Webber got on the pole, it would have made the race a whole lot better.

webber qualified 3rd at this very race for jaguar in the R4, just a shame he had that bad crash as he was on for some valuable points & webber's debris caused alonso's crash aswell

Very, very good movie, 5*! Cool Soundtrack. This was maybe the most crazy F1-race I've ever seen. Funny: The turn where 7 drivers crashed their cars because of the heavy rain is named "Turn of the Sun"^^
