  • To all xbox fag's seriously this is an ps3 video not an xbox one so go QQ where your videos are fucking downys.....

  • ur just mad b/c we didnt get hacked for a 1.5 million in ppls credit cards ooo its the truth and atleast we dont have ppl hacking the internet and systems so they can cheat it but i will give you this u do have a few things i like but i am still getting one so i can use it here and there dont hate me for what system i chose first atleast acknowledge that i am getting a ps3 now have a good one ppl

  • @granist Where are your sentences?

  • @granist no you didn't but you actually pay for playing online, and enjoy high quality movie watching? :)

  • hey to answer everyone's asking, from what i found in forums, you need to back up your custom ps3 hard drive. apparently each ps3 has its won incryption, hence it it will ask you to format it if you try to do a simple swap. i am not sur eif it's true., but might as well back up just in case.

  • Is the hard drive in the FAT PS3 the same as the slim? So I could just put my current ps3 hard drive from my FAT PS3 in? Thanks

  • xbox 360 will always be better so i have nothing to worry about i want a ps3 just for certain games and because i love sony for certain reasons and i wanted to know how to change out the hdd thats why remeber xbox 360 for life

  • @granist shut up, idiot!

  • I'm getting the Ps3 160GB.

  • great vid.

  • mi ps3 tiene 160 gb y vino igual que ese

  • Little Big Planet ftw!! :)

  • @DSatue Does the PS3 slim take the 2.5" sata II's that the original took? It's just, I think my PS3 is on it's way out and I've heard the slims are a lot more reliable. I just don't want to buy 1 if I can't just slot the 500GB 2.5" SATA II into it, that I have in my original.

  • Does it use same type of hdd as ps3 fat? Please answer me!

  • After this swap, will the internal HDD receive files bigger than 4GB?

That's all I need to know.

    Thanks for the video.

  • @lJuazl i doubt it. sony made the ps3 only compatible with fat32, in an effort to stop piracy. lot of good that did for them haha. if you use a cfw it it will, however.

just look online for ps3 (.m2ts) movies, or get a nice video convertor like mkvtovob.

  • @madgigahz How in the world would FAT32 stop piracy? Do you even know what you are talking about?

  • @renetetrault it dont. Lol fat32, fat and NTSC is the same. Dont stop piracy.

  • @lJuazl the internal HDD can receive files any size you want, I have video files on it that are 15GB in size. The problem is getting them onto the HDD in the first place - you can't put files bigger than 4GB on an external HDD as you've noticed - the solution is to use Media Server software on your PC - WMP11 will do the job. So long as your PS3 and PC are both connected to the same router you're good to go.

  • @soupdragon151 In the end i was able to swap the internal hdd and store files bigger than 4GB.

But thank you for the reply (:

  • does the fat ps3 have the same Hard drive as the slim?

  • is that thing in there when you first buy it? cause i had the error message cannot find correct disk and i went exploring and found that little slot and nothing was in there, i have had it for a while and it just now started doing this

  • Does changing hard drives remove patches?

  • This will void the warranty right?

  • @Pokemonfan809 no it will not

  • @gaminggeek9 Ok thanks. I should have read my manual before asking this. Thanks anyways. I have another Question, is there a limit to the HDD's size? or can it be as big as you can find?

  • @Pokemonfan809 i think 500gb is the max but anything under and including 500gb is fine! :)

  • hi, please anyone answer this ASAP. I currently owned the PS3 Slim 250GB, but in 4 days im going to get the PS3 Slim 160GB. I want to know if I can swap my hard drive from my current PS3 (250GB) to my new PS3 (160GB) and still have the new PS3 read all the files, like map packs, game content that is currently on my 250GB hard drive.

  • @nielkainama93 DO NOT DO THAT. First, plug in some sort of LARGE (500 gb) external drive, that is formatted to be fat32 system (look online how to format) then backup EVERYTHING onto the drive. Then swap drives out. Then download the latest PS3 software on your PC and put it on a flashdrive. Put it into the slim with the new HDD. Then, once it's installed, recover everything from the external drive. Anything that doesnt transfer u can redownload for free. Sync your trophies before doing this.

  • @ShadyRapture Hallelua! thanks for the tip! thats very useful! your a LIFE SAVIOR!

  • whats the biggest HD that PS3 supports?

  • @ivansandoval777 I had 500 Gig in my old fat one before it decided to yellow light on me. So I'm thinking of putting it back in to my new slim because I have some save data on there that I do not want to have to redo

  • would having a 500gb harddrive that is full slow down the PS3 at all?

  • @roopdaug Yes a little, depending on what you mean by full. No doubt the console would use some of the HD memory as a cahing system, so some space (10% is usually the recommended on pcs) should be free

  • @DeathReaperTM thats what updating the ps3 hard drive is for... space nothing much elce... i found a 640gb hard drive that is compadable for ps3 and its only $100

  • how the maximun sopported in ps3 and

  • I like the LBP song haha

  • okay dose anybody know how to switch a hard drive into another ps3 because my old ps3 fried and need to put my old hard drive into my new ps3 but it wont work any help with that please inbox me

  • Does changing the hard drive void the warrenty? and is it compatible to the old Playstation 3 (fat)

  • @NoR3gretzx No it does not, and yes it is.

  • stupid fuck !!

  • WHY DO PPL SHOW THE ENTIRE BOX OR CONTENT OF THE ITEM JUST SHOW US HOW!!! STRAIGHT TO THE POINT!!!

  • What? This isn't a tutorial. You just removed the drive.

  • @Navstar100 play in reverse to see how to put it back in again ;)

  • @dermotte lawl

  • this is hardly a tutorial... you're just showcasing your ps3... at least explain

  • Oe weon pero deben de sacar hsta el mando tbm ps uno kiere ver bien el ps3, ya ps no se hagan los cojudos kieor mi ps3 regalenn!!!

  • i got mine 160 Gb/Go But when i did a update it went down to 149. WTF and i have 130 free space.

  • @DareDude914 all hard drives do that. Its when you format a new harddrive the ps3 has to use ome of that hard drive space for system files. PC's do the same thing so you never actually get the whole thing

  • @ddavis513 that aint cool. i format my pc all the time.

  • @DareDude914 The PS3 reserves quite a bit of space for it's OS and for caching games.

  • the song is so ANNOYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can you use a 7200 rpm speed drive? or SSD?

  • @feczor Yes you can, a 7200 shows very little improvement over the stock 5400rpm, SSD has been used and is quick, but not practical unless ur willing to spend mega bucks on a 128GB +

  • well done to your timing.

  • what does upgraded harddrive do

  • @ArmbaRProductionZ give you more space to install and download games :D

  • @ArmbaRProductionZ Gives you more space for data (games/movies/etc)...DUH.

  • Id stick an SSD over any slow ass hard drive

  • Whats the specs for the HDD?

size, ps3 only, max size, ect.....

  • @demonwolfdawg size: 2.5"

    it can be for laptop

i dont think theres a max size

    sata harddrive

  • @leche1022 as long as the description says 2.5 (inches or w/e) then it WILL fit?

  • @demonwolfdawg it has to be a 2.5" SATA harddrive the make or the size (memory) doesnt matter

the harddrive will most likely say its for a notebook..but it will fit in the ps3

  • i want transfer my data from my 120gb hard drive to my new higher compacity hard drive

so how to i do it

    please help

  • @farhanthebeastboy jailbreak your ps3, use a FTP to transfer the files to your PC put the new HDD in and Transfer to it from PC

    helped?

  • @farhanthebeastboy get an external HDD backupo all your data from your 120gb HDD then insert your new HDD into the PS3, then restore the back up from the external harddrve

  • Great music choice!

  • esta consola esta toda huapa

  • @ xXxGodaimeHokagexXx:

No, your trophies will not, getting lost! You save them with your account on the PSN server.

  • if i change my hard disk ill lost my trophies??

    thanks for the vid

  • I stepped on your bush.

  • Does this break the warranty sell?

  • @jovspanish pretty sure it doesn't. The OG ps3 FAT had this feature as well.

  • <3 LBP

  • thank u sooo much.

    Subbing.

  • gasp...... this songs on little big planet

  • is the hdd for the fat one would work for the slim one

  • Yeah, if you are going to work on replacing the PS3 Slim's hard drive, you will need to put the PS3 on something that's anti-static and make sure you ground yourself. Just common sense.

  • @megamanfan3 whats the point tho?

  • does it have the same hdd as a phat ps3??

  • When i put the old Hard Drive in it say it has to be Upgraded to a 3.30 version or watever how do i do that...wat exactly does it mean?

  • @jackbrentner

I think you can download the upgrade onto a memory stick from Sonys homepage

  • Nice Song i loved Little big planet...

  • omg little big planet music on the vid sweet

  • i love videogames :)

  • good, i just have 1 question when you upgrade the hard drive u add space or you change space?

(imagine i have 120 Gb and i upgrade with a 500 gb, i would have 620 gb or just the 500 gb?? please answer!)

  • @Yairdv 500gb

  • @Yairdv theres only space for ONE hdd. therefore... it doesnt add on space.

  • Thanks, but could have been a lot shorter. He spent more time touching the damn thing than actually removing/replacing anything. Annoying, but productive in the end. :)

  • can ps3 slim support 7200rpm hard drive?

  • @tklu84 yes, but you wont gain any performance sadly. it just heats up your ps3 more

  • @tklu84 no only 5400 rpm hard drives

  • what kind of screwdriver was that in the video?

  • @tweezyboy7 philips.

  • @FURRYYAK thank you, i appreciate it.

  • that is my favorite song on LITTLE BIG PLANET good choice!!!

  • if my current HD is corrupt and can't be restored, can i do this to replace it and it will work fine?

  • @ginty019 yes you can. no guarantees if thats your only problem though

  • @ginty019 yes u can

  • so i put my 500gb harddrive ( i had it on my fat ps3 ) on my new slim... an error came out

harddrive cant be read or something and it needs to b fixed or formatted

so the ps3 asks to plug something in with the 3.0 or 3.5 software version or later

what can i do cause i have to idea of what to do!

    help please

  • @adolfoelsk8 hehe i don`belive you can run the Slim ps3 with the fils from the Slim ps3 !!! sry you have to delete it !!

  • is the hard drive just live laptop's hard drive or its a regular one? sata or ide?

  • @locodany91

    I think it's a SATA laptop drive.

  • anyone want lockerz invite plz reply!!!

  • Its strang how they hide the HDD slot. On my fat ps3 the its got a huge HDD sticker on the panel you need to remove to get to it.

  • awesome, that why im gonna get a ps3 120 gb and upgrade it later

  • lbp music :)

  • on ps3 u can store like ur file from computer

  • I'm going to buy a 500GB. I got my PS3 for a reason. I'm going to download a lot of stuff. Movies, Games, Add-Ons

    I love my PS3.

  • Careful with buying a lot of movies. If your ps3 should ever ylod your movies (Or at least mine wasn't found in the previously downloaded spot.) you may have to pay to get the downloads again. Checked some forums and that seemed to be true. Video has an agreement to have 1 download per purchase.

  • @snikyljt There lies the problem. You are paying Sony for movies you could only download to 1 PS3 once. It's messed up that they don't just do gamesharing like games. Just get dvdrips and blurays from torrent. That's one of the main reasons everyone upgrades their hd...

  • I have a Fat PS3 and bought a 300GB HDD. Can I use that harddrive and put it into a slim (Which im buying tomorrow)?

  • I did that man yesterday and all my data from my old ps3 got Deleted its something to do with the Slim it has a special system update unlike the ones on the Fat Ps3's 3:15 or something :(

  • Oh really? = ( dam that sucks..well thanks for telling me

  • ive got a 320gb on mine, and thats just for games not movies ect,

  • so you take it out and it gets upgraded?

  • lol nice.

  • @stegst140 Yes, it will work

  • ok here is a good question i know how to upgrade the hard drive but is it possible to upgrade to a terabyte without using an external hard drive i hear the highest without using external hard drive is 500gb

  • I have 3 year warranty on my ps3. If I fuck it up will they still fix it?

Another question. How much does it cost to upgrade it to 400-500GB?

  • I got mine for about $80-90. Totally worth it, I'm loaded with movies.

  • @HmongYou2Tube

at best buy around $90 -$100

  • Question: I have some saved data of PS2 games on my original PS3, could i still restore my data onto a slim because the slim does not play PS2 data.

  • wtf but only FAT32 works then ^^The PS3 can't read NTFS

  • stickin a terabyte n there...

  • @danielrox22 wont fit

  • @TheVancouverJatt umm... it did and still is fiitingg in there..

  • @danielrox22 how about 2 terabytes

  • @danielrox22 nice man.

  • can you put the old 80GB ps3 hard drive in the slim?

  • yes.

  • yes you can. they are the same type of drive. so you should have no problem

  • yh u can but u can also just transfer data straight over useing a usb lead just connect both ps3 together

  • @BruceLeeRock25

yes but thrres no point because slim defaulted is 120 unless you had 160 fat ps3 but its not worth it

  • @BruceLeeRock25 I want to know the answer to this question, I have alot of songs and albums on my fat PS3, and want to know if I can transfer that to the slim. Is it possible?

  • @cutegirl00179 I'm not sure. I know one thing you can do for sure, if you have a PSP you can send the albums to that then transfer it to your slim. If that doesn't work, just send the files to a Flash Drive and them put the Flash Drive into your slim.

  • @cutegirl00179 copy them on to usb then to the playsion slim there is another way there is a option to tranfer ps3 to ps3 via cable never done it but i think it tells you how to do it on the ps3 menus

  • LittleBigPlanet music :O

  • WHAT THE FUCK? HE HAS PS3 FAT THE SLIM ONE AND THE XBOX 360? OMG! :o

    does he has a wii?

  • @CarbonoPrdccns omg i realised how geeky i look, i got wii, xbox elite, ps3 fat that got ylod and today i bought the ps3 slim of my friend :S

  • @CarbonoPrdccns no... unfortunately the fat one was fuckin the neighbors consoles... sad story.

  • @CarbonoPrdccns wow i got a wii a ps3 slim and 360 elite and iphone 3g a psp and a ds lite ^^

  • @CarbonoPrdccns im prettu sure the fat ps3 got the YLOD thats why he got the slim.. just like everyone

  • @CarbonoPrdccns Wii sucks nobody have it xd expept me but is a crap

  • @lJOFEGUBAl if the Wii is crap then why do more people have it then people that have ps3 and xbox 360 together

  • @1993gandy cuz its cheap and well marketed

  • @1993gandy Sales aren't an indicator of quality. More cheap toilet rolls are sold every year than all three current generation consoles combined, but I wouldn't dare argue that they're better quality.

  • @1993gandy The wii is bought by more old ladies and people who want to lose weight

  • @lJOFEGUBAl because is for actualy babys under 4 years and the graphics of n64 dude

  • @lJOFEGUBAl is that what all the retards in your jr high say? moron.

  • @CarbonoPrdccns I have the same lol

  • @CarbonoPrdccns he only got a tiny wee

  • @CarbonoPrdccns why not? I do. And it can play all my games off a usb hard drive. And emulate n64 and ps1 via sd card. Wii has some games worth playing if you arent a poor closeminded fanboy like most on youtube.

  • @CarbonoPrdccns hahahahaha wii sux i sold mine like 2 weeks ago

  • Can I put an 7200rpm HDD??

    IS there any Gb limit?

  • @johnie1992

i have no idea what 7200 rpm is. what i do know is that you do need a 2.5 sata notebook drive. i upgraded mine to have 250 gigs. I think the current highest is either 320, or 500. i'm pretty sure the highest is 320 but you might wanna double-check.

  • 7200rpm relates to the speed of the harddrive so far i've heard the ps3 is only compatible with 5400rpm and 500gb works in the slim

  • i have a 500gb HDD so that might be highest or maybe a 1TB if u can find it in 2.5 inches..

  • the highest at the moment is 640

  • I upgraded to 500 GB, i'm certain, a standard 2.5" sata. It is a Western Digital one and it was £75.

  • highest is 1tb

  • Dont do 7200, the PS3 cant distrubte the heat efficently enough to use 7200 (I made that mistake :() Go 5400.

  • Thanks! So il get an 5400rpm! Can i pyt an 640Gb? is there any limit?

  • as long as it fits it should work.

  • This video wasn't that informative. Is the HD just a standard SATA notebook drive? Do you need to format it before hand or will the PS3 format it when you turn it on? What was the point of size comparisons when the video was about swaping the HD?

  • The PS3 will require a format when you put it in, although it helps to format it beforehand, it'll make it quicker. Also, it requires a standard SATA laptop drive, yes.

  • Or, if you want specifics just to be sure, it must be a 2.5" Serial ATA/SATA 5400RPM hard drive.

  • whats the limit for the slim?

My friend had a fat ps3 & able to upgrade to 500GB HD, I mean, is it even okay for a Slim to have 500GB? or is it the limit 320GB?

  • There isn't a limit, as far as I know. It works much like a desktop, in theory you could even pop a Terabyte hard drive in there if you could find one that fit.

  • You can't swap your Fat PS3 (160gig) to a Slim PS3 (120 gig) I just tried, the trays are different and the connectors are off. (The 120 gig has more little connection things)
