  • The word is LACK! Desire comes from lack. You only desire something you don't have. If you had it why would you need to desire it or imagine it? Jeeezzzz How hard is that?

  • She's kinda small next to K

  • Krishnamurti changed my life.

  • Desire is like creating an itch, and postponing the scratch. If I see desire as wrong, and thus desire not to desire, then I am simply perpetuating the peculiar notion of creating itches so i can scratch them later. Krishna is not saying we should change, but to "see," and in the act of Seeing, the change happens. This is the art of listening.

  • i dont get what this guy means when he talks about desire.....so he's saying desire is bad? if it wasnt for desire how could we know what tastes good or what is safe to eat or if no one had the desire for light at night......we would have never invented the light bulb. If there was no desire how could we want to reproduce......is he saying that if we dont think and drop every thought......then our "free mind" will naturally just do things and theres no point in even labeling things good or bad?

  • the woman is so clueless...i dont know her, but interviewing krishnamurti was too much for her....

  • well, it sound to me like she wants to learn, if and only if she stops teaching him, and be silent and do not answer his questions, krishnamurti is only asking her, to put her on the right path, dose she even know that she was very furtunate to talk to a GOD.(an absolute timeless space)

  • @saharDJAMS A GOD who was routinely fucking his best friend/most trusted assistant's wife while he was sending the guy off on missions for the organization. That affair only ended when she found out he was having an affair with another girl. So no, he was just a flawed, weak human being, like Iris Murdoch and the rest of us. Glad you enjoyed the videos. Cheers!

  • @Roubiere you have to do better than that just a bit, to distroy a man life long work, and passion for the truth, we are not concerned with what a man does in his bedroom, but what he was pointing to.

a few years ago i was lost and very desperately looking for the real truth, not what science and religion was potrating as truth, i studied others but no one was like him, he was talking about the absulote truth, and in my book if you know the real truth or compasion, you are god, even you.

  • @Roubiere

sure. but when he spoke about these things, I believe he could put these things behind him. How else could he talk about conflict and our desires, unless he himself was a victim of their traps?

  • @Roubiere Regardless of whether that's true or not, does that automatically invalidate his teachings?

  • @Roubiere wtf? are u serious? are there any sources for this?

  • She is pretending to be intelligent. A very poor listener.

  • FYI, The quality of the sound when Iris Murdoch speaks is turning out somewhat muffled with static at some parts.

  • Poor old Iris - she's so egocentric - she contrives to come across as an intellectual (so important for fragile ego types) but seems either locked in denial or just plain thick. I admire Krishnamurti all the more for sticking with what must seem to him like

    the queen of dumbfucks.

  • Did this woman graduated successfuly in the university?!

  • @balkhara Yes.

  • I desire that you grow up.

  • Yes, but who's to say that the way man has been living since his debut entrance is not the way he should be? Yes, it sucks, yes it's painful, and we all know that entirely too well, but if man has been this way since his beginning, can't it be safe to say that man is just naturally fucking dumb? Desire is too strong to conquer, and man I feel is naturally fucked, naturally a slave to desire. I have followed K's teachings for 10 years, and I haven't changed. So, I guess I'm not on the VIP list.

  • Everyone's on the VIP list, its just some people get a better seat and get more from the show/party. That's called evolution and you can join as soon as you realize that "you" is not something to be taken for granted. Every 7 years you have a completely new subculture of cells in making up your body, you make decisions on opinions in each encounter w/ people or news stories, etc...

We've improved since the cave days, and now we're getting closer to the balancing act of intelligence, I think.

  • @wonderwhaz797

Interesting opinion, about perhaps man being naturally a slave to desire and naturally dumb.

But i 'd like to think man is just naturally cursed to have a brain that is "strong" enough to realize and fear his certain death and ceasing of existence...

I believe thats when it all began.. when man's brain became capable to sense the tomorrow and his upcoming death... i believe thats when his self-interest came to be.

And pure love is the only thing that can drive away that fear

  • She's soooo intelligent. Wow.

  • my good what a combination!!! She is one of my favorite novelists of all times, and he is just... OUR MIND !! wow, never thought i would see them in the same moment and place

  • He's just so wonderful.

  • I got into Iris after the great movie - then read the fascinating bio of her life - filled with love and desire - then settling down with her husband. Too people make a living by writing and talking about living - amazing how language is so limited when you get to love, desire and how we tick. This is what should be studied at NASA (and the UN) - innerspace. Maybe we wouldn't be so FU'ed.

  • He doesn't listen to her. (he can't really follow her and doesn't want to.) She doesn't give the answer he wants to hear.(so he is not interested.) She on the other hand is listening very attentively. Look at her eyes when she leans forward to try to grasp his words! (who wouldn't want to talk to HER??) (I wish I had a friend like that.)

  • Yes, K is ultimately not interested in learning from another, or through another's experiences. He is interested in self-initiated insights and is on record about it. And judging this attitude (of a dead man) is merely a challenge to preconceived ideas of what forms of learning are really amenable in your mind. K is a nature mystic, and listens very attentively through his capacity of observation, and not western conceptions of psycho-analytical trade of information.

  • no....hes asking a question about where desire comes from and she keeps trying to define desire. Hes asking where desire comes from and why. Shes caught up in trying to agree about what desire is. He doesn't care which or what desire or good or bad...the question is to go into why we desire and whether its necessary.

  • no desire comes from exprience and pleasure

  • Epictetus2008 says:

"This is worse than psychology 101. Retarded."

...and yet he masturbates over a guy who was completely obsessed by him (UG, for those not smart enough to work it out), tried his best to copy him all his life and who was nothing more than a pale shadow. Not the brightest bulb in the box, are you?

  • why does desire come, why do we want things...? because having that thing could bring a sensation or escape from a crappy feeling we're in at this moment ...an escape to another place
