wat ontzettend jammer is aan dit spel is dat de nederlandse marine in engelse schepen vaart. alleen de fluit is een echt nederlands schip. voor de rest zijn bijna alle schepen maakt niet ui welke natie in dit spel engelse schepen. erg spijtig aangezien nederlandse schepen er veel mooier uitzagen (veel gouden decoraties en beschilderingen. waarintegen de britse schepen dit niet echt hebben

Holland and Britain had battles over the trade routes. It wasn't a war. Holland destroyed British ships and British ships destroyed Dutch ships. They were big allies in the napoleonic wars and no war ever took place.

In the early revolutionary wars they were allies but after 1795 they were firm french allies and a brother of Napoleon became king. Only in 1813 they became allies with the British again.

@Jeroen72 Yeah, because the goverment were republic at that time they were on the french side(because they wer republic) and when the king came back in they were on the side of the british at the end. Because Britain fought with the dutch in the battle of waterloo.

In the Golden Age( how the Dutch people call it) they had over 4000 trading ships and the second largest fleet was Great Britain with less then 500 ships :) Holland FTW

The real problem started when england became jealous, because the Dutch were the number 1 trading country in Europe, our tradingfleet was also the biggest of the world that time. To counter the wealthy Dutch trade, England started a kind of Trading-law (act of navigation) that really pisses Dutch off!!

very good battle! Although it was a loss, you destroied all but one British ship of the line with just a few flytes and two brigs. More of a victory to you than the British because it greatly destroied them and you with a fleet of mecent type ships (I don't quite call flytes warships, but they are very powerful for a mercent ship) I am a fan of navel battles, and this is a swell job of a navel battle!

Because Britain still had Units , like you can control nothing but if you got spare units you won't die look this somtime is a good stratery go to war take all the units out of the Cities them get taken then Capture a City you want to start from

Dutch were great and Britain was great. Shame Dutch never wanted to ally with Britain they could have joined Britain in their attempt to rule as many places as they could. I mean they did quite well but Dutch could have seriously helped. Ahh but we are all ally now :)

Actually because of king William the 1st(Dutch guy) , we did live under one rule once. And we did ally with you on many occasions like in Gibraltar and our battles against the French and Spanish. We where even there with you on Waterloo. however becoming part of the "Empire" That would have been our worst nightmare lol.

my empire total war wont work T_T. i bought it when it first came out and ive tried every thing it just wont work. It gets as far as loading a battle then just before it hits 100% loading it stops loading. I can hear the background music and the units but the loading screen is still up. any thoughts? im thinking of just buying a new one but i dont want to waste my money and not have it work again.

wow. start using chainshots!! this is a battle you shouldve won! disaible the enemy's bigger ships by destroying its masts from afar, then use your superior numbers and mobility to rake it to hell.

sea battle will be fun if you play it by the books. Line formations/ half cresent , good tactical positions. but this skill level is very poor, should be more practicing.

I can run on high/medium with the Geforce 9400. I think if you want to max the game out though you should get the Nvidia Geforce 9800GT or better. You might need to upgrade your powersupply.

It's possible but unlikely, cannon shot were not able to pierce the hull in those days. Victory or defeat was more a question of how many wounded and dead crew you had. If the captain surrendered the fight was over. This is why it wasn't uncommon to see ship be repair by the victorious side and use by that side in later battle. So sea battle were more a question of having a large crew.

@Attila16 Well mate, in the 18th century, cannon shots were powerfull, not as powerfull as in the Napoleonic Era, but more powerfull than in the early stages of cannon's(the first cannon balls were made of Stone!) So ya, 18th century cannons=Death :P

@WorldChampInfinity I know this reply comes late, but yes, a dutch ship could easly defeat 3 brittish ships.

at one point in the British/Dutch wars the dutch navy sailed up the Tames, over the ship net during high tide, and managed not just to shoot up several cities, but also take more than a 100 ships on tow (yes dragging em along!!!!) they however lost three ships during that operation, which were worth more than all the British ships they stole. don't know what year though. :3
