This is the XNA 2D tutorial... anyone watching this should, as I've said before many times, run through this.. In one night... and you'll see what it's capable of. Amazing tools! It could change your life...
you're moving on from a language after half-assing ONE tutoiral on XNA which has all assets, codes, libraries, and not to mention the whole fucking project in the bundle? This is sad.
@nobodypersonsomeone XNA is basically a collection of libraries for use in C#. Basically, instead of using a bunch of lines of code just to define a point, XNA does that for you. Basically, Microsoft made a framework for you to work with, instead of you just starting from scratch, so it's MUCH much easier.
@nobodypersonsomeone Nah.. it's simple.. run through the XNA 2D tutorial... in one night... and you'll see what it takes. That's what this video is about. Just do it, one night, seriously... and then judge the next morning. I trust by the time you're half way through you won't want to stop the tutorial and you'll go all night to finish. It's that cool and easy...
I'm now moving on and going with C++ since its the game industry standard language for game programming. I'll help you with that as much as I can also
lol did you mess with the amount of enemies drawn to the screen and my score is like +1 everytime you shoot an enemy i guess + 100 is a little more fun lol:P
I wish I could answer that question for you, but I have yet to ever program in Java although I'm sure I will someday.
I hear that its pretty different. And this is way better for Game Development than Java. C/C++ is the best for getting a job in it, C# XNA is best for learning yourself.
But. I must warn you. Games take a lot of time and effort to make. Like i'm talking YEARS, if your doing it buy yourself. It takes big companies multiple years to create those games, and they've got a team of hundreds of people.
Actually, that is not entirely true. In some cases, video game developers will have small teams(maybe about 20 people) make a fairly good game in just a few months.
Yea I was interested in C# as well but my school don't teach it, my professor said that most colleges don't teach both. What have you been using to teach yourself with?
Its pretty good. Its not a book full of boring text. Its really helpful. Explains things clearly and makes it a lot of fun to learn. My C++ Reference isn't though. So its hard to learn it by myself.
Although since I'm going to be a Video Game Programmer, C++ is very important for me.
Yea, my C++ book is pretty good it was very expensive though. I always wanted to be a video game programmer, but lately I don't know what kind of programing I want to do so, I'm just learning to be a general programmer.
Hey there are many different sides of Game Development and it will never be the case where you have to do a whole game alone when it comes to pro game development. If i went into programing it would have to be Scripting in video games, it looks and sounds very fun.
Yea I know that already, not just for game programing no professional program is written alone there are always teams as a matter of fact the advanced programing class are in that very team format.

How much different from Java is C#. I code Java right now, but it 's not the best/fastest way to make games.

I want to download it, but only if I can make shooters.

Yes, you can make anything imaginable with this.
But. I must warn you. Games take a lot of time and effort to make. Like i'm talking YEARS, if your doing it buy yourself. It takes big companies multiple years to create those games, and they've got a team of hundreds of people.

I can't wait to learn to start making games(of course thats not what the class is going to teach). What language did you program yours with?
jbriggs06 3 years ago
I made this with C#.
I have both Visual C++, and visual C# with XNA Game Studio 3.0
I have more understanding of C# though.
I haven't yet taken any classes I've been teaching myself which is what this project is for.
kyle10590 3 years ago
Yea I was interested in C# as well but my school don't teach it, my professor said that most colleges don't teach both. What have you been using to teach yourself with?
jbriggs06 3 years ago
I've been reading this book its called Head First C#.
Its a really good book thats easy on your brain lol.
I have 2 C++ books and 1 other C# book as well.
And for the game, I used a tutorial that really helped.
kyle10590 3 years ago
Alright thanks I'll check that book out.
