They're too expensive to staff, and there are too many stupid litigious idiots who will fall off them, get injured and sue the bus companies; these are different times to Routemaster heyday times. I can't understand why this design was considered in the first place. It has charm, but it's bollocks. FINALLY! A bus to make bus travel sexy again. The NBFL will be a huge hit with the bus going public for its quick on and off's and gorgeous interior. Built in the UK so extra cost recouped via tax and World beating fuel economy and emissions is the icing on the cake. My only concern is the time it will take to roll out these design icons to the fleet. Well done Boris for actually delivering on your pledge, unlike crony Ken who spend millions on buses nobody wanted.

@fervereaone It doesn't need to as TFL puts smaller buses on such routes and not all central londons roads are tiny and twisty. We have 14 metre coaches driving through Ldn a nd this is about 12 metres max.
I know this may seem Daft but for export to countries outside the UK cant they just put a permanent enclosure there and just run a 2 door design to meet the design regulations such as the ADR's in Australia (Australian design regulations) I like the look of it as it is it'll look awesome around Sydney as the old Routemasters are freakin awesome (been told many a story about them by my Nan as me and my sister were the first aussie born in the family the rest are British born)
Surely a more obvious obstacle to selling this abroad would be the fact that the bus is built for left-hand drive, which the majority of the world don't follow.

but
1.It carries the its unique and dedicated signature which symboling "Its a English bus"
No one would expect tourist to enjoy a local trip on a "significant english bus".
2.less practical with its relatively low capacity, compare with its enormous body...
and that, I think, is essential and which this piece of work is driving itself from the sole purpose of a double-decker bus.
