These songs are the best Christmas songs that I've ever heard. Neil remains forever an incredible talent and an amazing performer on stage. Thank you Neil for all the great music you shared with us over the years. Happy New Year to you.
No matter what lyrics are...if this was a commercial song instead of a Xmas carol would be one of Neil Diamond's greatest hits. I simply adore it whenever I listen to it. What a voice...what a music!
Neil Diamond is a Christian, his song"Pretty Amazing Grace" is his testimony. There's a video of him on youtube admitting his conversion and singing this song. It's a wonderful song and became a favorite the first time I heard it.And no Christian I know minds if a Jew sings a song about Christ. There's an interesting "Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show" ,too, from Neil's college days,he's on Johnny Cash's show when he did it.Check it out,it's awesome. He did some confessing in it,It's cool.
So before my Grandpa died, we'd always go to Hawaii for Christmas, and this was Grandpa's favorite Christmas album... It's just not Christmas with out Neily Dee:]
Hey, do you by chance have any of his second christmas album? We used to have that on cassette tape when I was little, and some of the songs on it are among my favorite christmas songs!
Does anyone really know what is in the heart of Neil Diamond? If God was as angry as most people think he is we are all in big trouble. Listen to the words of this song...it is a love letter.
Neil Diamond's song speak to a faith that is not easily categorized. One of his more recent singles was called, "Pretty Amazing Grace Its a very spiritual song.
Musicforsean - Neil Diamond was born in Brooklyn to a Jewish family descended from Russian and Polish immigrants. He sings Christmas songs wonderfully, doesn't he?
I do like his Christmas songs. I just find it hypocritical for a Jewish guy to sing Christmas songs. The neutral ones (Winter Wonderland, Sleighride, Have Yourself a Merry Little X-Mas, anything Santa-Frosty-Rudolph related, etc.) is fine but to sing the sacred songs (Jesus-related) is frowned on by both Christians and Jews alike.
Its not at all hypocritical. Im saddened that you frown upon Neil Diamond for singing Christian songs. There is no rule banning Jews from believing in the deity of Jesus. Many Jewish people honor Jesus as Gods son.
@fpoasec Religions are not like citizenships. A person can be a citizen of many countries but can only have one religion. A person who believes in the Deity of Jesus is a Christian.
Jesus was Jew. That's a fact stated in the New Testament. You think HE would have found it hypocritical to hear another Jew sing a song about his birth? I think not.

Neil Diamond has a Christmas Special on VHS, he sings this song and it is wonderful, my favorite version of O Holy Night. Sung with so much passion and emotion. Thank you for posting this.
Oh Holy Night is my favorite Christmas Song. I have not heard anyone sing it better than Neil Diamond. He has such beautiful voice, and when he sings spiritual I just love it even more.
LOVE Neil. What a voice. Anything he does is great, thanks for the post. I didn't even know he recorded Christmas anything. I must've been under a rock for several years.
Every time i hear this song i think of my mother who loved neil diamond and loved this song...it's a sweet agony listening to it but thank you so very much...

Josh Groban's voice seems lighter to me. Neil Diamond's version is more robust.

Not quite Josh Groban -- who was also born of a Russian-Jewish father -- but still pretty good.

Neither do I. Buit that would make him a Christian. Jews do not believe that the Messiah has come.
