  • Now that's what I call an artificial intelligence!!!!!!!

  • ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

    MWHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH.

  • I read an article on this guy today in the ne yorker. He was a landscape painter who on impulse made a 'ufo' that ran off the wind, so he started making these cuz of the attention he received when he sent it over holland. unsurprisngly, He also went to school for engineering.

  • Like the Tin Man' it would probably be ever so greatful for a squirt of oil now and again.

  • is he father of Nadine Jansen? :)

  • hey if u can think it u can make it nothing is ever impossible until proven so. Dont give up on anything u try there is always solutions to the toughest problems can be solved.

  • What incredible creatures these are. They have personalities that make you love them! What a wonderful creation.

  • I can just see these creations stutting across the sand 10,00 years from now because the plastic hasn't broken down yet! LOL!! :)

  • When I see creations like this I feel cheated by Hitler's insanity. This beats a Rube Goldberg machine all to hell. Can you imagine where Engineering and Physics, would be today.

  • @homskoult just saying tech advances at an extremely increased rate when the world is in war. nuclear energy, for example, is derived from the work done on the atom bomb. so, to answer your question were it not for hitler we would be years behind now in terms if tech.

  • @mikeymoughtin Ironically, Jewish Physicists, first discovered the possibility. I think that is why the Americans believed Germany was closer than they actually were to having a bomb. But, yes I agree that a good arms race, spurs the advancement of technology. When a country can tell it's people they are in danger, no one cares how much money is spent, and money advances discovery.

  • Awesome video.

    @hermitau

    No it doesn't - it's just a cool sculpture.

  • great clip. Demonstrates that life requires a creator - even simulated life. And I enjoyed the music too.

  • @hermitau Life does not need a creator.

  • omg how can it move by my self thats so weird

  • @JonHz1 I believe it's wind powered

  • great it goes back and forth.... lets see it turn now

  • @crazyezra

    The Beachbeast molested me....

  • Never seen such an amazing thing! Fantastic.

Thanks to God there are, still, clever people in the world.

  • @Tecnobingo you're welcome

  • @crazyezra LOL LOL I know exactly what you mean, it's like eating ferero rocher whilst standing in a sewage outlet. No offense Brown noise man, I realise the irony of that but it is meant in humour , I respect your taste. I love these beauties. :)

  • It's thinking!

  • time bust out the ole k'nex box haha :P

  • What powers it?. I don't see any wind sails.

  • While I think this is absolutely amazing, absolutely amazing, how on earth can he say that these are animals? He hasn't created life, he's created something else to litter the planet.

  • Perfect for clearing landmines...as long as it was windy!

  • Wow fabulous design Theo.

Just get rid of that shit music PLEASE!

  • @leslie1225 seriously...I'm confused.

  • The origin of life might lie in the strandbeests.

  • this is nice.. it does not serve any purpose..

  • should art have any purpose?

  • art doesnt need a purpose.

  • Of course. The prupose to satisfy the artist.

  • the purpose of art is to make 'good'...if art is about life, and life does have meaning, then art has meaning.

  • @Masterplaymaker .... it is art. it should spark imagination and inspire

  • @Masterplaymaker and who knows.. maybe the military will use them to reinvent tanks

  • and a fuckload of time

  • And have a lot of money...

  • that's pvc tubing, that like a couple of euro's a meter tops, much less if you buy wholesale, the bronze statue at your local war memorial probably cost a lot more then this thing

  • wow

that must have tooking forever to make

and you would have to be a genius
