There are a number of great (jazz) singers these days, but in the maze of today's artists, many remain obscure. Not everyone has Elvis Costello as an admirer and music world savvy friend and lover. (I read a while ago that he 'once' was a family friend of the Kralls.)

It's all in the marketing.

Ouch... its a bad idea to listen to this version immediately after hearing Dusty Springfield sing it. On its own, Krall's version isn't a complete train wreck, but in that context it really makes you wonder why she bothered covering this song. Sometimes you have to know your limitations.

@terrywho22 Maybe of the covers, this might be the best. Perhaps its the best Diana has done on any cover. She loses me when she starts to play her version of jazz piano however. I would prefer she contract that out to Beegie Adair. Clever video, beautiful subject, nice wallpaper.

I have always loved this song written by the great Burt Bacharach and Hal David. It was sung in 1967 by Dusty Springfield. I'm not embarassed to say I was 14 years old at the time and this song gave me visions of beautiful sophisticated women and Diana Krall brings all of that back for me. I wish there were more like her with talent, class and beauty.

Long ago the banter about Krall was both her playing & singing were just acceptable. Over time and with hard work people recognised her skill on the keys. Then came the, "and her voice is pleasant" kind of critiques.

This video OBVIOUSLY is all about HER as a WOMAN and as a really good SINGER.

This videos places Krall in another spectrum. Sexy Superstar.

This clip is on the "Live in Paris" DVD. The live performance is even better than this; best I have seen in a LONG time. If I could find this in Blu Ray, it would justify buying a player. For now, the best I can do is my upsampling DVD player, sound system, and HDTV. There isn't much worth buying out there, but this is one of those rare exceptions.
