I Like the Zap Alias better. You can reserve one for $1k on their site. The price is $35k. They're better than the volt in my opinion because it is 100% electric. About 100 mile range but you can recharge it with any 110v outlet. I find those next to gas station, Mcdonalds, airport parking lots, even street lights.lol. Recharge your car while you're at the beach. ;)
With what he just said and what Ive read; the gas tank size was reduced to approximately 8 gallons, the over all range was set to 360 miles and 40 of those miles is all electric with an equivalent watt value of a quarter of a gallon of gas.
This would be 320 miles on 8 gallons (40 MPG) adding in the equivalent watt value over the 360 miles would give you 43.636 MPG
2011 Chevy Volt: Eight-Gallon Fuel Tank Assists 340 MPG Range (Published Nov 29, 2009) this would be 300 miles on 8 gallons or 37.5 MPG with 41.212 MPG over all for 340 miles.
What most consumers don't realize is GM has been making Electromotive (Combustion engine->alternator->electric motor) systems in Railroad Engines for years....complete engines. Those are the ones you see chugging down the railroad lines all the time! So...the have had this experience for 50 years?? A long time. So this technology they know quite well! Yes, perhaps they may make a "clean" diesel in the future but diesels are notorious for pollutants. I'll take one in blue....OK?
So why not use a clean diesel engine that can recharge the battery much more efficiently... Use the same efficient diesel engine as the VW TDI... that engine gets 58 mpg's I bet it can even do better in the volt.
Really cool lookin' hybrid! I read in a paper where u can plug it up for 3hrs, and that gives u about 40miles on the road..which is pretty decent. But, it does utilize "some" gas. But, since it's a hybrid, you know it's gonna COST you!

The looks of the Volt just screams, "Geezer-mobile!" It has that boring exterior design that old people like (similar to Buicks).
AutoObserver described the Volt as, "Grandma's electric vehicle."
Edmunds said the Volt was, "Electrifyingly Bland."
You can get TWO Prius cars for the price of ONE Volt.
