  • The truly definitive version ... Gary Moore was on fire here. And what a brilliant and beautiful song. And special guest Frankie Miller's vocals was like icing on the cake. Philo and the boys at their best for me ...

  • true 2

    my life luv tz

  • All right! we've got 3 dumb ass here! how you cloud dislike it bitches?!

  • i'm a 17 year old girl, and i would so much like to apologize for what my generation has done to music.

This song in particular proves that sad-cliche-lovesong can be so beautiful and rock at the same fucking time!

  • Original soundtrack? Tis is the version with Frankie Miller, I am almost sure this was not the original???

  • @DirkjeA This song was first officially released on the album 'Nightlife' in 1974 although there is an earlier bootleg version of it going around - worth checking out. Its really good too, even has different lyrics in places and some killer Moore guitar on it.

  • Gary Moore aged 21 at his very very best !

  • @steolfc his birthday is the 20th of August

  • I love the way it fades...

  • thanks for sharing this great ,great song with us. finaly i found the original track with frankie miller. phil lynot was an original artist, he was his time ahead.he was the rocker(r.i.p. phil)

  • Great!

  • Excellent. Phil Lynott and Frankie Miller !!

  • I have been listening to Thin Lizzy for the last 45 minutes, it just reminds me how deep Phil Lynott is, he walked this Earth alone, his sadness just gets worse, and if I could just make him see, if I could go into the past to let him know how he makes my heart ache. I love him, I love his spirit, and I love his honesty. he had the choice to cover up his breaking heart. but he left us all the gift of listening to his music, and as we listen to his words we keep his spirit alive and intact!!

  • Not sure you can compare Jimi and Phil at all. Jimi only got 3 Studio albums in his short time(Up until SONY and his Family raped his estate) But Phil Lynott was a legend for sure, and yes probs the best Rock Frontman Ireland has ever produced. R.I.P to you both

  • lynott ..superieur...a j hendrix

  • Thank you x

  • cool

  • very good .nice version

  • I LOVE this version...never heard it before! Thanks!

  • DIVINE!!!!!! 4EVER;)

  • love it....i wish he were still with us...such a great loss...R.I.P. Phil............love ya much man...just found u after all these years and u are gone...i am so sad ...

  • Great song...but kind of like the live version better...

  • MUYYYB UENA!!!

  • Good COVER!

  • @fpwgafwslawgu Cover this is the original pal

  • So sad yet so true... T.T

  • The ultimate hearbreak song; this original can never be duplicated even by Lizzy; the lead lines flow immaculately, they weave in and out, they jab, they cut and punctuate; such determination. Sade, she has an ear for excellence, out of all the crappy songs she was somehow introduced to this gem.

  • Loved Phil since I head him the first time in my teens, and for me it only gets better as the years go by

  • The late, great Gary Moore plays the lead guitar parts and solos here.It sounds to me that Gary was playing a Strat but I have never actually read any information concerning the guitar that he was using.

  • ouch..hurts too much

  • ok, thelive version is SO much better than this... rarely happins now a days

  • Tar éis an tsaoil seo, is breá liom fós tú. I still love you, Kelsey. -Kris

  • I like the Sade cover better, but I am glad Thin Lizzy wrote the song! Thanks for sharing.

  • I prefer the Live and Dangerous version, this one sounds like softporn soundtrack to me.

  • One of the best love songs Eva!

  • Thank you!!!

  • To bad music isn't as good as this any more.

  • This is poetry.

  • Just an original, that's all...... never be another...

  • R.I.P. GARY MOORE and PHIL LYNOTT

  • LOVE this song... It's RARE to find a song that has "both" great lyrics and matching rhythm / sound... This has the perfect blend of blues, instruments and lyrics that really brings out "emotion"...

  • pure emerald magic

  • Live is een betere versie, maar alles van mr Phil Lynott, is oke!

  • I still love you Liz. -Kyle

  • Such a beautiful song. I have this song on my Ipod. Tons of Thin Lizzy.

  • I have heard this song sooo many times & I swear I hear B.B King in there, can anyone confirm this? It's gonna drive me mad lol.

  • @rickford75

Never thought of that - good one!

  • Will always be in love with Phil x

  • If you listen, both Phil and Frankie are singing. Phil starts the lines and Frankie sings the second half and then they harmonize in parts. Thanks for posting it. Really takes me back. I'm a singer, bass player myself and when people ask me my influences and I tell them Phil Lynot /Thin Lizzy, I usually get that blank stare. So glad I got turned on to him/them back in the day. Not very mainstream where I came from but totally relevant and awesome......Oh and "Tin" relates to a model T Ford

  • TIN LIZZY!!!!!

  • One of my favourite thin lizzy songs : )

  • but darlin' its this empty feeling my heart cant disguise...

  • god bless phillo

  • it makes sad songs seem nog so stupid, girly and lame

  • Moi sąsiedzi też tego słuchaja, a raczej nie mają wyjścia :) Wspaniała piosenka...

  • Crying my eyes out every night because I will never stop missing her..

  • phil lynott = the irish jimi hendrix

  • @M45terMiNd

Hardly, Gary Moore was the Irish Hendrix in talent terms.

  • @M45terMiNd That's Rory Gallagher, actually... Phil is a bassist!

  • @M45terMiNd No....Phil Lynott is Phil Lynott. Jimi was great but Phil was equally as good. We don't compare him to others, he's PHIL LYNOTT.

  • @whitbyjet65 exactly. Phil Lynott is Phil Lynott.

  • @whitbyjet65 jimmi was better but phil is still my favourite

  • @M45terMiNd

Phil Lynott was the bassist btw...

  • @M45terMiNd it's better to call him the jimi hendrix of bass

  • @M45terMiNd and yet the solos and the composition is by Gary Moore

  • @M45terMiNd But Lynott was a bassist, surely if there was an Irish Hendrix it was Gary Moore

  • @M45terMiNd ummm, Phil was a bass player

  • The first time I saw Lizzy was at the Apollo in Glasgow. It was always like a bear pit, but when Phil sang this song, everyone and I mean everyone sat down and listened. Absolutely brilliant, and Frankie's voice is a huge bonus on an already great track

  • F rankie Miller <3<3 best voice in history and to this song.... priceless love it rip phil and gary i hope u have a blast jam in heaven ..

  • the ultimate break up song

  • I liked this version the best but, I would also love to be inside Sade... litearlly inside Sade...

  • @fuckyoubitch2341 SAD.........OR WHAT !

  • these guys were lethal together, true legends

  • Much respect to all the fans of the original songs but I feel Sade's version so much more than this!! She just sounds so sincere in her take of this tear jerker.

  • Absolutely love this song!!!! :) x Ta very muchly for puttin this version on!!!

  • Marvelous track - every part 100% natural. Not like crap modern-day "forced emotion ballads"

  • there's no better love song

  • wow...the guitar, the vocals...its just so perfect! the tone on phil's voice reminds me of peter green \m/

  • 4:00 the good stuff starts.

  • BOOOOO...but respect your opion

    VVVV

  • This is one of those rare songs where I actually don't really like the original version. I find the Live And Dangerous version or Gary's own cover so much better than this. Still, just an opinion.

  • @HuDaFuK I Respect your Opinion too ......I Actually Think Both Versions are Equal Myself!!

  • @Bonoerra Wow. Nice to know there are people on YouTube who respect someone's opinion as a valid personal preference, instead of just hurling abuse at them :)

  • the end reminds me of a Santana groove.....

  • @NewRisingSun69 It kinda sounds like "Europa (Earth's Cry Heaven's Smile) by Santana.

  • Beautiful Tune....Says it just like it is.....

  • why are people praising gary mooore so much on this vid? wasnt it robertson who played on this song, on night life?

  • @lazer59882 nope check the credits off the Dedication best of CD its definitely gary moore on guitar

  • @kinglouiebee lol i dont buy best ofs...no need to when you own the whole discography. but you're totally right, apparently moore was out of the band by that point but his solo was amazing and robertson didnt want to re-record it, so there you go.

  • @lazer59882 yes i mean why re-record it when moore nailed it already? u can just feel that soulful peter green style vibe in his playing even all the way up to still got the blues, which has a similar feel in the solo too.

  • @lazer59882 yes i mean why re-record it when moore nailed it already? u can just feel that soulful peter green style vibe in his playing even all the way up to still got the blues, which has a similar feel in the solo too. simply breathtaking!

  • @kinglouiebee i always liked robertsons solo on live and dangerous a little more though...and unfortunately im not familiar with any pre-buckingham/nicks fleetwood mac music, so i can't judge the peter green comparison.

  • Nice....I like both versions. They are both very different.

  • One of the best love songs of all time....

  • kicks the CRAP outa that shockin Sade cover...she butchers the song!!

good old Thin Lizzy RIP Phil and Gary!!

  • This song is pure magic.. I could listen to it FOREVER and EVER...

  • still the best version, long live lizzy.

  • My dad used to live next door to the Guitarist. Heard him learning guitar through the wall. What an honour.

  • Smooth.

  • Such a classic, we need true music like this in this Radio giant, record label controlled day and age we live in now. You could tell he ment what he was singing

  • RIP Gary. THIN LIZZY FOREVER!

  • I'm a massive fan of Sade, and heard their cover a few weeks back and loved it, had to check out the original, and I don't know which one I like the best, which is strange for me as I should say Sade, as I live for them, but the vocals in the original are so lovely, and moving too. GREAT SONG!

  • @merlinmediagroup Absolutely agree 100% with everything you said. Everything.

  • I'm a massive fan of Sade, and heard their cover a few weeks back and loved it, had to check out the original, and I don't know which one I like the best, which is strange for me as I should say Sade, as I live for them, but the vocals in the original are so lovey, and moving too. GREAT SONG!

  • I didn't know this song. And definetely has become one of my favourites of all times

  • time does not heal everything!!!! it's a lie! i still have tears i my eyes.... and this song just makes it worse!!! fuck...

  • time does not heal everything!!!! it's a lie! i still have tears i my eyes....

  • This is the best version if you ask me. thanks for posting this

  • I really like this.... But I do think Sade's version is better... it fits her better.

  • @JakeZealand I only know of this song because of Sade, their version is fantastic, but you don't always have to have a preference, just like both. I am a massive Sade fan, I love them, but I really like both of the versions. They both provide something completely different, Rock and Soul!

  • @merlinmediagroup I totally agree with you, but I do like this one better - I'm just more into soul I guess (and Sade)...

  • @JakeZealand I love Soul music too, I pretty much only listen to Soul music, Sade, Beverley Knight, John Legend, Leela James, R. Kelly, Bill Withers, Jill Scott, Nina Simone, all those greats, but I also love this version. It has Soul whilst being a Rock song! :D

  • this saddness never ceases im still in love with you aldrin. xoxo i got this empty feeling my heart cant disguise. is this the end?

  • This is so so so soulful. This has got to be the best thing I've heard in ages.

  • Great guitar by Gary but this version lacks the drama of the live and dangerous track,(Robbo),which for me is one of the best live tracks ever. Mr Moore. You did'nt always get the credit you deserved and hopefully some of the so called guitar/music lovers who so casually slagged you off are feeling a bit ashamed now your gone. There again mate you probably would'nt give a shit anyway.RIP.

  • R.I.P. Gary

  • Sade just did a cover of this song. never heard it before. great song!

  • All hail one the original god of rock!!!

  • Loved this song years ago when I heard it for the first time, and I still love it today. Some things are forever and this song is one of them.

  • This song muders me in the best possible way...I want more..It makes me horribly sad that this talent ended.

  • LOVE IT!!!! TY TY TY TY for uploading :)

  • Terrific tune ... great vocals and great guitar.

  • I actually didn't really like this song when I first heard it. I was into the faster heavier songs. Now that I've listened to it more and understand it better it has become one of my favourite songs.

  • @jointz999 cheers mate and congrats in understaing this epic tune :)

  • Frankie and Phil .. wish they've recorded more songs together.

  • @yb3000 WHO IS FRANKIE ?

  • @gleannan Frankie Miller is the other voice in that song. They sound so good together

  • LOVE IT~~

  • Phil Lynott...........incredible song writer......period.

  • ABSOLUTELY FUCKIN INCREDIBLE those are the words i describe this song with r.i.p phil and gary jamin in that great bar in the sky

  • Gary Moore is with Phil Lynott

  • seems the good die young

  • Rock In Peace, Gary.

  • I saw a great interview with Scott Gorham once. When he replaced Gary Moore in the band they asked him if he wanted to re-record the guitar solo in this song. He flat out refused.

  • @HuDaFuK ----- Wasn't it Robertson, not Gorham, that wouldn't redo the solo becaused he didn't think he could improve on it?

  • @gloveberg Possibly, it was ages ago that I saw the interview, I just remember it was Gary's replacement. You could well be right.

  • my heart is shaking... <3

  • in love' with this song αχ!

  • Hmm a lot of Gary Moore tributes, what about the voice that died 28 years ago?

  • i still in love with this song

  • after all the years im still listening this song...timeless

  • How can NO ONE mention Frankie Miller? Those two voices together take me straight to HEAVEN!

  • @rockridgehardcore

Yep...Loved Frankie and Phil singing together on this...and Gary's solo work

  • This is such an underrated and beautiful song. Phil Lynott's phrasing and expressiveness are so beautiful. Thanks or sharing..

  • RIP Gary Moore. I really loved his version of Shapes of Things. This is such a great tune too.

  • Hendrix, Duane Allman, SRV, Rory Gallagher, Jeff Healy and now Gary Moore.

Bet that is one sweet Jam Session going on in Heaven right now. Play on Gary, your Muse will forever. Blues~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  • @Longshotsblues Don't forget Phil Lynott on Bass and Vocals

  • @jonerific aint phil that sings this. its a singer called Frankie Miller.

  • @addeman81

Both Phil and Frankie are singin' - try listening with headphones (if your hearing is so bad) and you'll hear them standing either side of you!

  • @jonerific he playes the bass tho..

  • @Longshotsblues

    Don't you mean Hell?

  • @Longshotsblues John Lennon and George Harrison too :o I bet theres a dam good jam up there

  • R.I.P. Gary

  • R.I.P Gary Moore

  • Priceless talent.

  • Rip Gary.You'll be missed.

  • rip gary moore.

  • its about his woman who adopted his boy when they were young I think. Its straight from the heart, you can tell, its like a living heartbeat, more than just a song, he put his soul in there. Not many rock men had soul as well but Phil Lynott clearly had both <3

  • beautiful !!!

  • big!!! ♥

  • nice one was looking for the original :)
