Great question. Camels can go for weeks without food or water, because of the reserves they live off of in their humps. Whatever excess food a camel eats goes straight to their humps and is stored as fat. Some zoos intentionally allow the camels to fast so that is simulates real fasting that they usually go through in their natural habitat. So if their humps droop, it means they are eating less food during that period of time, but they are still in fit condition.

Question: why do the humps droop sometimes on bactrian camels? Not enough fat to prop them up or something else...
