The pregnancy was missed until she delivered. Lina had zero choice, or comprehension of what was happening to her. If a five year old under the worst of circumstances could give birth, perhaps another woman under less horrific circumstances will find the strength to.

I think you meant pro-life, although I do not qualify as pro-life as one canot choose life if they have zero choice. In a country of choice I strive to inspire women to carry to term. I don't use gory pics or guilt them by calling them names. WHat happened to Lina was criminal and immoral (rape) what came of it was a blessing (child).

Okay. She had no CHOICE but to choose life. She and her family thought that she had a stomach tumor until the 7 month mark -- too late to abort! Additionally, abortion was not legal in the time and country she lived in.

She had her parents raise the boy, too, she took the role of sister. So what of single mothers who don't have that luxury?

What happened to Lina was horrid, yet her son was a blessing.Why should he pay with his life for the crime of a horrid man? If a woman cannot raise a child, she can abort her child, but she doesn't have to. There are people in USA that would love to save a child from abortion and to love and parent him/her. Many travel to other countries looking for a child to love, and there are very sad stories of would-be parents that have spent tens of thousands of dollars and returned home without one.

Right, because adoption isn't terribly expensive, bureaucratic, time-consuming, and pretty much only available to the independently wealthy. Also, because it's totally not hard to place children that are older, disabled, have disturbed pasts, aren't white, etc. And don't forget, we let gay couples adopt freely in every state! (that was a whole heap of sarcasm in case you didn't get it.) I wish more people would adopt of course--but it's not a realistic option for everyone.

She didn't have the choice to have an abortion. Lina Medina was pregnant before abortion was as common as it is today. And they didn't even know she was pregnant until a month before she gave birth, which is too late for her to have an abortion anyways. For these reasons no one knows if she would have kept it or not had she found out earlier.

Yes, and the providence of God turned this tragedy into a blessing. Little Lina Medina did give birth and the baby remained with the family. Lina had no choice, even so, still she can inspire others to choose to carry to term.

Facts: now she lives with her husband in a very poor suburb in Lima. In the 80s decade, local autorithies pulled down her house with bulldozers so they could build a highway and didnt pay her a penny in compensation.

Lina Medina was a highly unusual situation, in fact the pregnancy was not discovered until she was 7.5 months pregnant. Lina never made the choice to give birth, the baby was delivered C-section upon the discovery. The rape was a crime, the pregnancy unplanned, and the family poor, the baby was born and the family raised him as Lina's brother. Out of this tragedy comes inspiration to many that if Lina could give birth in spite of her age and poverty, so can they.

Lina became a mother and had a baby, that is a fact. The crime that put the baby inside little Lina was horrid, yet the baby was born and Lina dealt with it. Do you think Lina wished he were dead? Yet there are women that have aborted their children and have regretted it. My hope is that Lina can inspire desperate women to choose to carry to term and avoid the regret over an aborted child. Lina's life and her story are relevant.

You do not assume what Lina might have wished yet you assume what I think. I have made her a pro-life poster child, I admit that, but not because of her thoughts or beliefs as I have no insight to either and can only imagine, but because of the simple fact that this humble child became a mother at the age of 5. As horrible as the circumstances were, her son was not neglected. I glean inspiration from this tragic tale and maybe another woman facing a hard choice can find hope in it too.

when they seen the belly they thought she had a tumor or maybe a hernia cause they could never believe their 5 yrs old was pregnant. who would think that? she developed fast at teh age of 3 she had periods and had full mature body. after the baby was born they checked and said she had the overies of a 25 yr old. they prolly would have terminated it but they didnt descover it until it was way to late for abortion.

It is beyond me how the pregnancy was missed for so long and the crime against her was wicked. We cannot accurately second guess what might have happened. Lina's son was born out of that horrid violation. Lina went on to marry, have another son and is still alive today. God Bless dear Lina.

This is an elegant yet simple elegy of angelic empathy, sung by a very soothing, sympathetic female to honor this little girl & what she went through. I did find myself looking & listening several times to try to find what the author's REAL position is on the issue of "Choose Life" vs. "Right to Choose". This POWERFUL video & song are SO cleverly done, I'm almost sure the true purpose and intention is NOT at all what it first appears to be! And that, too, is incredibly clever!

Let me clarify my position: I am pro-life & hoping to inspire people to carry to term rather than to abort or outlaw abortions. Seeing aborted babies bloodied and in a heap, while horrifying is not inspiring. I want women to see brave role models that will inspire them to bring their babies into the world.

Secular humanists might say this story is evidence against an infinitely benevolent and just God. Those who truly walk with the Master realize that God knew this nation and family embraced a culture of life and He visited this blessing upon Lina so she could exemplify sterling Christian values to "culture of death"-embracing abortion nations. Well, iCelebr8Life makes a good point: the man's actions were a vicious crime against man and God and the worst expression of his base, fallen nature. I dont know the mind of the Creator, but Id say while man's capacity for mercy & forgiveness is imperfect, God's capacity for Mercy and Forgiveness is unbounded. The sinner who perpetrated this crime is more in need of divine Forgiveness than men who havent sinned so greatly. If he repents, isnt he like the lost sheep (Mt 18:12-14, Lk 15:3-7)?

Yes, that would be...except it is not the words that count it is the heart and in a couple of seconds on a deathbed God will know the difference between a sincere repentance which is unlikely and a person being afraid to meet his maker and saying whatever to go to heaven. I truly hope that the fear of hell isn't the only reason people don't do those awful things.

That does seem to nutshell the sublime quality of God's infinite capacity for Forgiveness. God, in His omniscience and infinite Mercy, can forgive the greatest of sins just as easily as the least. Humans have imperfect knowledge of sin and yet are often ready and eager to condemn and mete out the harshest of justice based on this imperfect knowledge. God knows the full depth of every crime and can still choose to forgive them. Like any sublime act this seems as beautiful as it does...repulsive.
