amazing run dude. i can usually get up to 10 million but one night i had a bottle of wine and my final score ended up being around 28 mill. haha im not incouraging drinking here!!

You only have me by 1 million in evolved (45M vs. 44M) and 7 million in sequence (49M vs. 42M)... which I have not tried to beat yet. Expect those to fall! :P

You should record your runs. It really helps to see what you did wrong!

I've found that it becomes all luck at a certain point. I've had no death runs where I've only gotten 15 million and 4 death runs where I've gotten almost 30. Your ship moves so slow and the gap in between shots is so far that it becomes a grind where you play over and over until you get the right set of circumstances where you get a high score (normally from good spawning gates and black holes).

it's more luck to you as you don't know how you are getting your 15M or 30M scores... look at 2:30 in this video, when i go through the gate i get 8M points just like that. it's all about killing enemies with gates and blackholes, as you get a 5x multiplier on those kills. but i agree it's still luck, but knowing this greatly reduces the luck. that's why i died so badly in this video, everytime, and still beat your score (because i optimized a few gate/blackhole kills).

I know about gates and black holes, I mean, it's luck as to how they spawn. My best run, I was on track for a 50 million plus game, going along hte edges, when a gate spawned with one of those snake things right behind it, that wrapped around the gate at the last second, for instance.

Because of the random enemy behavior (why do gates not follow any physics but go any which way, making them hard to set up for later, for instance), slow ass shots, and slow ship, I've found that this mode is more of a grind waiting for the perfect set of circumstances after you reach a certain level of skill.

i understand you, now. i agree the rest is luck. the game is about multiple attempts and showing off your best score, which by the nature of it is a more lucky run (better enemy setups) than your other runs. so i do agree. in duality zf we have nothing that is too random. some ships might move left or right randomly, but they come out the same, act the same, etc. so it will be interesting if a "no luck" game works better in practice, or if a "luck" game is more fun!

i have to say its a bit of luck, about 6 months ago i posted my deadline high score, 17.5 mill, and got about a third of it in one or 2 lucky black hole spawns at the end. im a much better player now, but i cant seem to beat my deadline high score even though ive set new PRs in everything else

lol! honestly when i only had my 12 million, and your 29 million looked untouchable! and when i ranked in the 700's on pacifism i thought i could never rank that high in deadline, and now i know i can. i definitely have learned a lot about this game, and now it's just a matter of time until i get some great scores! hehehe

yeah my deaths were pretty pathetic! that's why i can't believe this is my top score. it's pretty obvious i can do better. another day!

You've definitely improved from the last video but you still need to work on your bombing! :P Not so much, that last bomb you used cost you at least 5 million points (from losing that black hole) and there were a couple of others moments like that.

Nevertheless, good game and keep practising, I can see 60 million and above being possible if you keep it up! :)

thank you! i do need to work on my bombing. i am improving (14M to 25M to 31M in a week) but i am taking small steps.

i know what i have to do, but when i try i can't, and get low scores and do not learn. if i try to relax a bit, not shoot for perfection, i learn.

for example, just approaching a blackhole and shooting it without dying, makes me happy! lol i couldn't do that before!

that last bomb was a bad choice, agreed!

one question: why do you get so many points for killing a few enemies with a gate or blackhole, but if you just turn around and shot them you hardly get anything for them? is there a multiplier on the amount of enemies killed "all at once" with a gate or blackhole?

It multiplies the amount of points you score for shooting the enemies by 5. Chaining gates together also increases that amount by 5, then adds a small bonus, I think someone said 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4 but I'm not sure. I know it's a small bonus, though.

So, yeah, black holes and gates are critical to your success. :)

i think i got what you mean. the first gate is 5x, and the second gate is 5.1 (or something), the third is 5.2 (or something)... but nobody really knows how much more it increases, but it's not by much.

well that explains it all. so instead of turning around and shooting all the enemies behind you, you should forge ahead, killing the ones in front (probably getting the same points either way) but keeping the ones behind you to set up for the 5x multiplier kill (gate or blackhole). that knowledges makes all the difference in the world! it's crucial to high scores. just looking at this run, i make 8 million off one gate right after 2:30 !! crazy!
