I believe the planes should be considerably further from the crowd - like half a mile or more. It's not exactly like a car race where concrete walls and catch fences protect the spectators. While no distance is really safe from a plane, chances are had the planes raced further out into the desert this accident wouldn't have happened .

@hh1n I didn't say anyone would want this to happen but rather it's not beyond reason to think that a pilot may die (as I already stated, I don't think people go in expecting spectators to be hurt) - the Reno air show, along with other air shows has lost a number of pilots over the years, so yes, people who attend these shows know that there is real risk they will see the end of a pilot's life.

Ok to me it looks like there is a fireball but its so fast that it goes out almost as fast as it appears. Some may say it a blood mist and it may be but if your saying blood can mist like that then it is also plausible it could be a fireball as well because with that much of a mist its not to far fetched that it would go out as fast as it appeared

My uncle was sitting just a couple rows over he said he never heard something so loud. He dove to ground just as it hit but he said he got covered in debree. He also said while trying to leave the grandstand he noticed just two rows down a shoe with a persons foot still inside it.

Very sad.. Most likely he passed out when the plane went straight up due to the g forces .. He was most likely out cold when the plane impacted into the ground.. Very sad

That's insane how the cameraman managed to catch that. Very sad event. You could tell he was trying to pull up and avoid the crowd. Seems the missing rim piece on the tail had something to do with the loss of control.

@hanyoukimura It was in the Reno Gazette Journal today....footage of the last seconds before the crash show no pilot in the cockpit, suggesting he had passed out from the G forces he experienced when the plane first spiked upwards because of an equipment malfunction.

This is by far the scariest and movie-like video I have ever seen. You can tell by watching that even if you knew the plane was coming at you, you wouldn't have a chance to get out of the way in the correct direction.
