I don't want to pretend that I'm a good cook. I only cook for myself, and I'm not a fussy eater (thank God) I like Miso best for Brown Rice. Tomato Paste is lovely stuff for flavor and texture. I've used Soy Sauce, Olive Oil Vinegar and salt and Pepper, and Something called Tahini dressing. I like all!
@LoveMattersMost, well you almost made dhal with the split peas! It's very easy, but takes awhile. Next time I cook it I'll film it for you. In fact it's a good reason to eat it soon, mmmm.
@silentplanet2020 Two other good Vegan flavoring ingredients IMO, are Brewer's yeast, and Nutritional Yeast, Both often have vitamin B-12 added for us vegans. Both are very healthy, and both make the food taste richer and more savoury. I like a teaspoon of each on any rice dish or any potato dish. Brian : )
about 5 years ago, I realized my lifestyle was not healthy. Too much Salt, sugar, refined foods and fat. I had high blood pressure, so I changed everything in my life, and I am much healthier now! : )
So I wanted to share with others what worked for me! : )

I glanced at your Profile, and I applaud your choice in Schools! I took a class there 20 years ago, I loved the Campus. There was a strange "hippie" eating area or Restauant, a "talking" tree with a speaker in it, A spaceship shaped library, and I used to walk along the ridge near the stadium and watch the hang-gliders! You're a lucky girl! : ) Brian.
