The movie was excellent! Theses actors put themselves right in the scenes. I cry everytime too! I cry mostly after this scene, thinking of some of today's youth, who just go to bed with the mother's boyfriend and anybody else. Wonderful script!

I found this movie absolutely terrible. It's all so completely exaggerated it makes me want to laugh. If a director wants to discuss a problem seriously he/she really ought to do it in a more subtle and less ridiculous way.
This movie is brilliant! See how Sandra Dees cast a showdown on Lana when she stands up, symbolizing a power play. Then she backs down showing Lanas stronger. Lot of these types of things in this moviealso when Sandra Dee is fixing Steve a drink and Lana comes from her room up stairs there is a shot where the frame of the house put them in a triangle (as in love triangleget it) very deep!
This is the greatest classic movies ever, The sadest part for me was the end of the move, Mary Jane really played her part didn't she? You can't help but to shed tears when you watch it.

This was 1959, my friend. The fact that the race issue was tackled by Hollywood at all is quite astounding.
Sure it's a women's weepie drama but it deals with some real powerful issues.
