I have been subscribed to EGM FOREVER and my current sub was good till September 09. I am also really bummed by this and will miss my favorite gaming mag very much. I don't go to 1up as much as I used to when it launched but at least UGO says they will keep up the quality.

I highly doubt they'll be able to with only a fraction of the writers sticking around. The guys they kept I'll keep reading and I'll give any new guys a shot too, but if UGO bought 1up and fired nearly everyone, I gotta wonder what they paid for, since the personalities were everything.

After as i'm concerned - EGM died no sooner Steve Harris / Sendai sold the print publication to Ziff Davis in the mid '90s. It was downhill from there. I'll always miss the original staff.

Everyone seems to be complaining more about  1-up than EGM magazine. I never even cared about 1-up or even really knew what it was? I just subscribed to EGM magazine since I was a kid, so THAT'S the one I'm sad to see go...EGM. I'm subscribing to GameInformer now, and so far they seem like a pretty good magazine. If Nintendo Power ever gets cancelled then I will truly cry!

The 1up podcast were the best gaming podcasts that is if you liked listening to industry and game discussion rather than listen to stories from podcasters who like to spend 30 minutes talking about changing their child's diapers.

Is a podcast like online radio or just online news you could watch? I never listen to the radio or such things so that's why I don't know what 1-up was.

yes, its like a radio show you download and listen on your computer or ipod. they also did video podcasts like The 1up Show.

I stopped reading EGM and most gaming magazines years ago once I basically was able to 99% of my gaming info from sites like IGN and gamefaqs.

That being all said though, that magazine has been a pretty big staple of the industry for many years and it's sad to see them join the ranks of other defunct gaming magazines.

Hope the people who worked at sites like 1up are able to find work sooner than later!

despite never reading the magazine due to living in another country i still feel a sense of loss over EGM, something that long running, well put together and just damn good shouldn't go the way of the dodo over night.

I'll cop to that. I should spell checked more than a few of these. I was pulling names of people who I'd read and heard on podcasts largely from memory, and I still feel like an arse for forgetting Ryan Scott.

Ryan Scott was amazing... And why is Kathleen Sanders and Luke Smith and also Dan Hsu there? They left way before this.

But anyway, awesome video. 1UP deserves this and more.

Like I said, calling from memory and I included people I knew who left because I liked them while they were there and still follow them after they left. Dan Hsu was the blood of EGM for a very long time and it would be unfair to not credit him.

How Fucking depressing is it to know I'll never crack open and thumb through a new EGM before devouring it in one sitting? Seriously?!!?!? Why didn't they take the "Edge" route of making the subscription rate somewhere in the 50-60 a year range and continue to put out content of the calibur they have for the last..........fuck 15 years? Or at least that's how long I've been a subscriber.
