America is indeed losing it's cultural identity. Gentrification and urbanization are good up to a point. There is always destruction that closely accompanies progess. The internet is destroying the small record stores, the old theatres. This downloading culture will destroy us.
The American economy is going through a major transition into an information economy. Soon the majority of our manufacturing will be done over seas and food production will be handled by South America. Only small niche markets will be left for small farmers.
What can you do in this environment? The best thing you can do is level the playing field. Provide excellent training in technology in the community. Build communications services that are equal or superior to the large cities. Promote the relationship to each other and combine with other small communities to draw people into the community. Create goods and services that the big city can't produce or does not even know about.
