Nevermind about my last comment. You have to have your phone open for it to connect because it *does* ask to connect as storage device. Har har. :P

I just got my phone and plugged into the usb cable and the phone did nothing but charge, and it did not attach as a storage device. I have a regular mini usb cable but I saw that yours had a round part to it. Do I need to buy the usb cable that goes with this phone?

With Ubuntu you can run "dmesg" to see what is going on when you insert a USB device. With Windows, you have no idea what is going on when you plug something in and if it doesn't work you have no idea why not.
