  • I believe that's called St. Elmos fire!

  • video starts at 1:19

  • scare? he looks dead to me, you don't see him walking away.

  • caused by the change in pressure when opening that drum

  • ---> 1:20 <---

    Skip Button

(make this top comment so everyone can see)

  • it looks like he started it the flames go up and he gives no reaction of surprise you would think he would freak out or at least jump if it was an accident

  • Looks like he actually lit it on fire. You can see a smaller flame to his right just before the explosion. Was he lighting up a cigarette? I've seen people use a lighter to burn off frayed edges....did he do something like that?

  • @killershiller1 I don't think so. Another commenter said it looked like chemical drums. I think so too. Didn't look like arc flash to me, but I could be wrong.

  • @JetMechMA - actually I'm wrong I don't have a clue what happened because of the crappy video but maybe something with static electricity or something that was metallics nearby was energized or had a load of negative charge.. I'm not sure if he was braindead enough to be smoking a cig in there but who knows what caused this.. video is so poor I cannot even make out electric wiring

  • @JetMechMA It CAN'T be an electrical fire, it obviously shows the flames at floor level where heavier than air vapors would be. Typical of a flammable liquid like gasoline.

  • What heck!...

  • skip 1:19 to see what actually happens

  • Your doing it wrong

  • Electric as in static electric, coil as in using a barrel pump to fill a smaller cannister from a barrel containing (something flammable)

The headline and ingress of this video are misleading.

  • spy sappin mah electric coil!

  • @BronzeTurd shit better get your wrench and beat it till it fixes it...just hoe you're not too late

  • That's not any kind of electrical fire. Those are chemical drums in a print shop, those stacks are rolls of paper outside of the room. (been in the printing trade for 15 yrs. and recognize that environment) That was a chemical fire most likely started by an static electric spark. The reason I say that is because any kind of electrical blast will start off with a ton of sparks, of which there isn't any in this video.

  • @harliqwyne You're correct. When this video originally appeared on liveleak, it was stated it was footage of a chemical drum explosion. It doesn't look anything like an Arc-Flash.

  • @harliqwyne -The worst electrical explosions do not always start with sparks,if a live feed goes to ground,it is much the same as what you see in the video. If the coil that this guy installed energized onto a dead short, this could also happen.I can't say I know the particulars of this situation, but you are wrong about the sparks.

  • what the hell happened?......Thats some freaky shit

  • Safety rules broken

  • Electric coil? What kind of electric coil and what is it used for? Where is this?

  • @tall32guy coils are everywhere,. they help produce electromagnetic currents. this one looked pretty big and he probably moved it vertically which causes it to have charge because of the magnetism. but ya...im learning about this kind of stuff in college at the moment =)

  • ...while it was energized???

  • Jeez...
