  • lol "sometimes i'll even stand on it", im pretty sure if you stood on it, it would go through

  • @Ryaniron67 no, I've seen it done. They can take it

  • B, why are you commenting on my posts. LOL -besides... umm... don't you have homework to be doing? Ah hem. :)

  • well, its called a resonant head, first off.

  • Hold down 8 it sounds like he's saying "Dylan"

  • cool

  • thanks now my tom sounds awesome! :D

  • this guy is an idiot.

  • @Ethan19993 Then stick to your keyboards moron.

  • @Ethan19993 That is actully my step dad

  • he sounds like a white man

  • keep pressing 4 lol :D and nice vid, it helped ^^

  • hey when i put the tom on low tuning it kindda gives me a vibrating sound and when i tune it higher it makes a ring. the heads are in good condition and when i use muffling the sound drys out idk what the problem is can you help?

  • I heard that checking tension with the tuning key causes dents in the drum's wood edge... true?

  • @ScrewVev0 Yes, if your tuning key actually makes direct contact with the bearing edge. But as long as you're only hitting the head, I don't believe you'll do any damage to the shell itself.

  • Hey, I have a Tama Superstar Hyperdrive kit

    14" Snare

    12" Tom

    14" Floor Tom

    20" Bass Drum

I use EVANS EC2 SST on both toms as the batter head and the stock Tama reso head...

I can get the 12" Tom sounding exactly how I want it and amazing but I'm constantly struggling with the 14"...

I cannot seem to get it as low as I want it, so when I hit both Toms after one and other... They don't differentiate that much in tone and almost sound the same...

I know it's not the lowest of floor toms coz it's

  • mine ring out for ever and sound like shit

  • I think it sounds horrble, my drums have been sounding like that for ages and i hate it

  • My FT sounds like a gong if it were a drum, its so deep and lasts for a long time, do i loosen or tighten the lugs?

  • @JDFrates use remo o rings or moonegel. looser is usually the desired pitch for a floor tom. just put your finger in the middle of the head, push down a few lbs. tune ALL the wrinkles out on the sides untill they are alll equal. if the sound is too high or low, tune up or down. do the same with the reso. depending on the tone you want, tune the reso the same, tighter, or lower.hope this helps dude.

  • @Karliebabyyy

  • would in make sence to have two floor toms one high pitch and one low

  • It's Nate!

  • kinda looks like he needs to pee the whole video :p

  • @WhatAxBrit LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

  • @WhatAxBrit 'Cause I needed to pee! Don't hate! LOL

  • Hey thanks This video Help me out!

  • In my opinion a floor tom will always sound like a fart so it doesn't matter that much to me.

  • at the begin of the video my floor tom sounds lik that

  • This is a pretty good video. But can we please start calling it a resonant head. And you shouldnt hit the head with a drum key you could damage the bearing edge of the drum and never get it tuned well again.

  • @ianbhtube Its quite frightening that people may actually believe such total nonsense. He is lightly tapping the head with the key. He could have used any small blunt instrument, razor blades are not advised. What he did could not possibly cause any damage to the bearing edge or for that matter the head. And if he wants to call it the bottom head, let him, we all know what he means.

  • @Dav1dHHHH Thanx. I appreciate it. I thought the same thing, but I didn't wanna argue cause "resonant head" guy seemed so darn authoritative! LOL

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing!

  • 3:28 you sometimes even stand on it? can't that rip it. by the way. thanks . this is way better than expert village. its a shame that over 2000 people who watched this video was to lazy to hit the like button. how tight should i tighten the top of the floor tom?

  • @branby1994 You should see Simon Phillips. He jumps on his heads. Type in "Simon Phillips bass drum tuning".

  • what drum heads do you use?? :D

  • @XxpwnagevidsxX top is generally a coated amb... bottom... usually clear amb. Thanx for watching the vid. Hope it was helpful! :-)

  • I've always had problems tuning the floor tom, I just can't get it in the range I want, which is the lowest pitch possible.

  • @188metalhead881 check out bob gatzen if you haven't already

    great tuning tips

You should try using the tips he has on bass drums and just convert them into a floor tom tuning technique ;)

    good luck dude :)
