What was the age of consent for a British girl of 16 years old? Was she raped? Did she report the crime? Why did she walk the "Red Carpet" with a rapist in 1986 if she was raped in 1982?

I'm not defending Polanski because he can do that quite well by himself. I do, however, question the motive of Charlotte Lewis for bringing up the allegations 28 years after the face (All the while Polanski is fighting extradition charges in Switzerland). I'm not even saying Lewis is lying. I'm curious.

This "press conference" creates many more questions than answers. Why, after 6 months of his arrest, did she make allegations of rape? Who is her attorney that many people question as unethical? Why did she star in a film several years after her alleged rape? Why does she wish her allegation will influence a U.S. Court involved in an extradition case that Polanki serve more time for a crime he already admitted to and served time for? What's the point now? 28 years after the alleged crime?

How about this: Rape victims regularly keep up appearances to the outside world that everything is fine. She was a very young girl, and accusing Polanski at this point must have been very scary. I believe it takes a lot of guts to overcome the shame and come out with the story. Wether she failed as an actress or even was an actress in the first place is totally irrelevant by the way.
