The new books on the Romulan war and the events preceeding it are all really good, and they even retcon the horribel series finale for enterprise in a much better way (revisionits history on the part of the Federation to cover up Trip Tucker's death so he could join Section 31 and infiltrate Romulus' warp-7 program), plus the origin of the Kobayahi Maru
Actually they didn't fight with primitive atomic weapons if Booby-Prize is to be believed. They had advanced "phase cannons" and "photonic torpedos". And there was visual communication. HOW FUCKING STUPID DID PRICK VERMIN THINK WE WERE?!!
I love Spock's introduction in the beginning. The speech from "Balance of Terror".
It was a great episode, and still one of the better Romulan episodes in all the Star Trek franchise.
They are just the perfect mirror to the federation. They have complex political structures and are excellent tacticians.
It was always put as if Starfleet would rather fight the Borg or Spec 8472, than risk another full out war with the Romulans. Even in the Dominion Wars, the Romulans were the deciding factor.
With star trek coming out next year ( 2012 ) anticipation is getting stronger with the NEW TIMELINE that JJ Abrams has introduced into the first film ( 2009 Trek ) TOS Crew Remake. This is going to be exciting to see how the new timeline has been changed.
This is actually what I really wanted to see on Star Trek Enterprise for Season 5 to 7 (if it didn't get cancel) a lot more than going to see J.J. Abrams' new Star Trek movie. Oh well at least the new film looks badass and really epic! At least Star Trek is back in some form and looking cooler than ever! Maybe someone can make a fan movie or series or even an animated series based on the Earth Romulan war that would really be great.
I don't know how they would cover the Earth-Romulan War in Star Trek 12 or 13 when both will be still about the TOS crew. The new TOS cast have been signed for 2 more sequels. They want to make a trilogy with the new TOS cast. Anyways the Earth-Romulan War took place in the 22nd Century in Archer's time not in the 23rd Century in Kirk's time. I heard that Star Trek 12 is supposed to come out next year, 2011 and they are talking about bringing Khan back which I hope they won't do.
I love this trailer. Its great and awesome. Sure, its said that the war was fought with "primitive atomic weapons" but how do we know that the Triton class spatial torpedoes weren't atomic in nature? Yes Enterprise did get upgraded to use Photonic torpedoes but I'm betting that the NX class ships were the only ones using photonic weaponry while the rest of starfleet was using older tech.
I would want for a Romuln Intensive StarStrek, we had cardassians, ferrengi and bajorans (DS9), Borgs (Voyager), Klingons (TNG), Andorians and Vulcans (Ent)... I'd love a remulan series, that is, if they can get a good interesting show going !
I love romulan to but i'm affraid of too much developpement, i mean i was realy disapointed with Nemesis an maybe we love romulans because we know praticly nothing about them so we can put all that we want in. I would like to see the Romulan War but i'm affraid too.
Very nice but the problem I have with Enerprise is that according to the timeline, the Romulin wars started in 2156 and ended in 2160 at the battle of Cheron, one year before the united federation of planets was established. Furthermore, the war was fought using primitive atomic weapons, not photon torpedoes (I know, very sad of me to know all this).
The video was good. I wonder why they are not doing a movie on the Romulan wars. That would have made more sense than the movie they are making. Don't listen to those ENT critics. Enterprise was an excellent series. And I'll tell you this: My mom, who has been a fan since Star Trek First came out, Loved Enterprise. People who Praise TOS now I guess seem to forget that it was originally a failure. Who knows, in 40 years maybe they will praise ENT.
true, but starfleet did have earlier ships too used soley for defense the challenger, sarajevo, and intrepid types, they probobly would have upgraded them with the same weapons they had on the NX-02 and put them at the front
I really agree. If I had any trust in the old leadership of Ent. I would so wish for more seasons. They should have used the war as an arc or at least lead up to it more.
you could tell that Enterprise was going into the Romulan War story arc, but since they couldnt get renwed for a fifth season they never got to it, which is a shame, it could have saved the show after Coto took over
Yeah But they tottally screwed the pooch. That whole Temporal Cold War crap they should have NEVER done. the First season should have been about them gaining the vulcans trust. The Second, Resolving the differences with the Andorians Vulcans and Telarites, founding the federation, and then end season two with a Conflict with the Romulans, that spanned the next 3 years, at the end, the neutral zone is formed.
Good lord man...the poor lad has to work with what's available. If he had unlimited resources...I'm sure he could have hired the cast back to do all new scenes, with new ship footage...
look, paramount and the writers have severely screwed up the storylines with all their time traveling, temporal cold war, minor changes here and there because they think that we fans are stupid and will accept what ever they put out there slapped on the side of a plastic lunch box with star trek on it as cannon. Get real.
I enjoyed the movie, although I would assume by then that the NX class and Daedalus class would be in full production. There would be no need to have Vulcan or Andorian ships in a fleet.
It is extremely difficult to write a book on the Earth-Romulan War, because with all knowing, the Romulans had no chance anyway, and surprised they held for four years.
I'm guessing because the Romulans have a massive fleet, but Starfleet, only had a few NX-classes, so they'll have to call older starships for the battle.

@Lokasena An excellent introduction that was totally invalidated when Booby Prize started airing.

Federation is strong, yes strong. They have things, things that make them go. They want what they want and are strong. We are not strong.

I'm hoping that the new film will cover it in a couple of films.
It would be really nice to see the Earth-Romulan war.
Damn I bet it was epic.

@TheStarTreker Since the new movise are in an Alternate reality, Kahn would work.

Thank You. Micky382. Had the tv series Enterprise was still on the air, they were going to get into the Romulan & Terrian war, in series Five.

Your trailer looks nice. A TV miniseries or direct-to-DVD movie would be best for the Romulan War I think

at the begining with the map, should Romii actually be Remus? or are there three planets, Romulus, Romii and Remus?
johnkerry7 3 years ago
that might be the Star of the Romulan/ Reman system

OHHHHHHHH. that makes more sense :)

the Neptune was one, the sort of arrowhead with the nacelles on wing struts

These have nothing to do with Romulans:
= 1:50-2:10 Klingons sabotaging Enterprise' engines.
= 3:08-3:11 Klingons again - Columbia wasn't apart of any plan against the Romulan because she was in drydock.
= 3:15-3:18 The Enterprise at warp 5.2 and the Columbia assists with the warp drive problem.
= 3:30-3:34 Pre-NX Class vessel firing photon torpedoes on the moon in 'In A Mirror Darkly.'
= 3:55-4:33 Avenger destroyed by Defiant, then attacked by Alliance 'In A Mirror Darkly.'
