4100 rpm vtec does not make any gains... vtec keeps your power gain up throughout the power band at high rpms. Cars lose power at around 5-7rpm thats why Honda implemented vtec around those rpms. I don't see any use for setting vtec at such low rpms, but maybe a gain in torque in drag races hahaha... but the k series is so limited by its ecu.
i feel like ive been seeing things like "ill just reflash the ecu" all over the internet. this is not the ideal way to go. while yes, you will see some increases, it has nothing on a dyno tune. save your money folks, just go straight to the dyno
Well yeah dumbass it's not like its a big engine...It's a 2.0L i4 with a few mods don't expect it to be extremely fast...but for that engine *8 seconds* is a pretty good time for 0-80.
I drive an '08 Si (same engine) that is stock. I really like how you changed the VTEC engagement to 4.1k. Your car sounds less bipolar and more serious. If I end up adding a single mod to my car, it would be the Hondata Flashpro (similar in effect to the K-Pro for RSX) to lower VTEC so that I can enjoy more of the powerband than just 6-8k. (Although, 6-8k sure is sweet)
but vtec doesn't do anything to boost your car's performance, but just to keep the power band from dropping at high Rpm's am I not correct. setting it at a lower rpm would not do anything.
Good tune... But it defeats the purpose of the "honda dream" so to speak... Yeah v-tec engages earlier but you wont get good gas milage now I would reccommend bringing the v-tec engagment to 4800 - 4900 RPM's and if you want to stay in v-tec then keep it reved higher... So you can get the best of both worlds fast car and good gas saving car Is fast as shit tho gj with that!!! =]
@Questionssm plus it gives it a much broader power band. wen vtec is set higher, its not pulling as much as if you u were pulling it in sooner so its much more helpful to keep it lower, but there is one question. how did u get it so low. i k wit a supercharger u can get it down to 4200 ish but ur N/A
@adunn225 the object to tuning is to get the most power under the curve not peak numbers. a good tune will put more area under the tq curve which is why the vtec is set so low. this is usable unlike peak hp numbers which are nothing more then bragging rights. its a very nice set up and is clearly much faster then stock so id say he is heading in the right direction.
vtack just kicked in yo! nice pull dude. im surprised thats with cams and stuff; doesnt vtec rev right up to the redline quicker at about 4K stock tho?
what was that brief change in noise @ 6000 rpms?
ChingMan09 2 months ago
0-60 of around 5 seconds or a little higher..thats deffinatly pretty fast, nice car, hopefully getting one of these soon but looking for an 05

I agree. The vtec is already optimized. Why would you move it.

stock is 5800 rpms...pratically 6k...your only near that rpm in 1st gear. 4.1k is useless and much more wear on your motor.

erikmoua 2 years ago
Setting it lower means it engages faster. VTEC allows more air in because the valve is kept open for longer, which means more power.
GambiBoi 2 years ago 2
yeah, more power to keep the Horse Power from dropping at high RPM's.

e32amgfinatic 3 years ago
6000 is too high, stock is 5400 4100 gave the best gains for that set up.
