  • FALLOUT 3 BABY!!! NUKA -COLA!!!

  • I HATE THE FIFYS.But coke is good

  • Had I taken my woman to the theatre and got her a Coke instead of a glass of Moet or Bolly , I guarantee sex would be off the menu for a month.

  • few calories ?? 160 a Few?

  • 'KIT KAT' YOU THIEVES!

  • @EMDviaShlonghurst Oh! Yes

  • I looooove coke. Although I dont get it regularly. But whenever I go out to the shopping centre with my sister I always buy one bottle :)

  • If i saw a commercial like this on tv I'd buy the product! Even if it's freaking cat food

  • All music in the 50's sounds the same, those weeping strings and Christmas-esque voices

  • Looks like they ain't got no 32 ounce cups.

  • for some reason drinking coca cola back then was "cool" lol

  • Is it bad that I drink 3 to 5 a day?

  • 0:47 "I hate this nasty shit"

  • @Markkilla15 fucking LOL!!!

  • And...it will dissolve an egg shell in about 9 months! Try it. And then look at your teeth

  • what? half the calories as a half of a juicy grapefruit. lies ,lies, lies .... yea ! maybe if they were snorting the stuff .... did you ever spill some on the hood of your car ? I did it ate the paint ... coke in any form is dangerous ... truth 2011

  • ZzZzZzZzZzZz.....

  • i love how people used to talk at that time, it reminds me to fallout 3...

  • Coke doesn't taste the same as it did before the New Coke came out in 1985. I switched to Throwback Pepsi,

  • Joking aside, though..at this time there had been no cocaine in Coca Cola for many decades already, but they had lots of caffeine in them still! More than today. : )

  • And it was crammed full of cocaine back then! So no wonder those joints were popular places!: )

  • Isn't this when they use to put COCAine in COCA cola?

  • @ThirdGen83 true, but dr pepper is a pepsi product...im more of a mountain dew person but i do love dr pepper

  • They use to not put ice in it either. Then a little, then half, then 3/4, now the pack the ice in and pour coke over it.

  • I wonder how much different that Coke tastes from today's...

  • they used to send subliminal messages to people when they were watching movies at the theatre that would make then want to drink coke. Its true.

  • That glass looks small, no wonder they were fit in the 50s. Today drinking 2 Liters in a huge glass is just normal size.

  • give my self a brake and a coca-cola ! Pleaseee !

  • Waiiiit.....I didn't know calories mattered back then....

  • I wish movies had intermissions now like they did back in the day :( I hate going to the bathroom only to come back missing the best part!

  • Dr. Pepper is far better than COKE or PEPSI...

  • what is the name of the song???

  • Notice the size of the glasses... definitely not the super sized monster cups we see today

  • Is it just me, or would anyone else have LOVED to grow up in the 50's? Even without all of today's technology, it was a much simpler time.

  • @slash8915 and if u had todays knowledge u would make everyone trip

  • What i love about the 20th century commecrials is they arent BAM BAM BAM in your face. they are veryyy.... Eye to eye. They actually talk to you rather then try to sell you

  • i swear guy number 2 was elvis in his early years!!!

  • Love the music hahah

  • the glasses are 2. the size now

  • cocacola bebina do diabo

  • reminds me of Fallout: Nuka Break from Waysidecreations....

  • @Darkwolf41 lol thats what i was thinking

  • my grandpa used to work for coke and he's got all this vintage coke merchandise

  • Man, I love 50s women.

  • I like Nuka-Cola better.

  • @ISPAMYOURCHANNELS and we ate dill pickles out of a glass jar...

  • Yea but while you were busy telling people that coke is so great, that strange couple took your table. Douche

  • @toxicMDR2 HAHAH... thanks for the laugh! >>Yea but while you were busy telling people that coke is so great, that strange couple took your table. Douche

  • That guy looks like the red head off of scrubs (>^-^)>

  • nuka cola

  • In fallout 3 it's called Nuka-Cola.

  • The blond chick looked like Klaus Nome.

  • "Have a coke!"

  • i´m doingg coke while watching this...

  • Cocaina Classic

  • im drinking coke wile watching this video

  • @michael1234252 saaaaaaaaaame :D

  • @elliottrawr lol

  • lol i hate coca cola lol prefere the goos lemonade :D

  • I need a coke

  • haha coke in a ball wow and low calories? wat a lie>>>

  • @ultravioletgaia Not really. It's crap for sure. Nothing but sugar and water with a little flavour. But, look at how small the glass is compared to the kegs people drink today. No wonder there's so many overweight people these days.

  • Classic.

  • 'then you can relax'...he says...uh, with caffeine?

  • Maybe if we went back to using smaller cups like that, america wouldn't be so fat now.

  • @SimplySchaun

Yeah. That would be like the "Baby" size now. But I also think exercise has a lot to do with it.

  • Cocaine!!!!

  • @xshootertilidie Now look, this is getting beyond silly. Doesn't anyone read the comments on a video before they post their own?

  • @MattTheSaiyan it actually was made with cocaine at one point

  • @Excalibur5k Yes, but that was long before this commercial was made (1903, and even before it was removed completely, much of it had been removed before then due to concerns by the deeply-religious owner of Coca-Cola at one point). But that did spawn an interesting mildly-campy film, "For His Son" (1912), in which a chemist created a cocaine-containing drink ("dopokoke") to raise money for the lifestyle of his son (and his son's lover), only for the couple to to die from addiction to the drink.

  • @MattTheSaiyan i know a guy that drinks like at least five mountain dews together each day, is that dangerous?

  • @MattTheSaiyan The coca-plant is still used, though ONLY for flavor, which arguably is fine.

The question is whether there are enough coca-plant fields in the world to supply both the worlds daily intake of coca-cola as well as it's daily intake of cocaine. If not... You do the math.

  • @Excalibur5k And it was green...

  • @Excalibur5k it still is dig that. It's made with sugar. but also coca. hence the name coca- cola. decaf coffee still has caffeine. deconaizaed coca still has cocaine. so what.

  • @MattTheSaiyan I wish people would learn!

  • @xshootertilidie yeah that is why they called it relaxing back then haha

  • some how i started my youtube journey with a kingdiamond music video and ended up here?

  • @1488BLUTundEHRE1488 That's what makes YouTube so much fun!!

  • @1488BLUTundEHRE1488 thats nothin' i was looking up the stability of carboncations

  • coke is one reason why america is so fat!!

  • I sooooo want a fountain soda...i miss those

  • give yourself a break! have a cock!

  • Didn't they put real "Coke" in Coca-Cola at this time?

  • @808boimichael i believe so.

  • @808boimichael Removed before the 1910s. As such, you will be attacked by the Ginyu Force within the next 9.5 hours.

  • Thats an 8 oz Cup

  • @ReBeLYUZtv I was thinking like 6. So much moderation compared to our mega size everything these days!

  • Mmmmmm I want a coke now

  • that coke probably tastes really gross now..

  • If they put this advert back on tv right now they would sell so much.. Because of the way people are and how this is so nostalgic obv before my time but you what I mean

  • @joeblack702 Back in the mid-1970s, dying movie studio MGM had a hit with "That's Entertainment", which consisted largely of clips from 1930s/1940s musicals. In other words, Never underestimate the money-making power of nostalgia. Personally, I want swords-as-fashion (what century was that, anyway?) to be the next "Fonz leather jacket", but that might be asking too much.

  • Glass soda is better.

  • Omg coca cola use to be so fancy to the people lol

  • I would like to try Coca Cola in the 20's Becuase they actually put coke! :) Try that biotch!

  • dude, this commercial made me fucking thirsty! they oughta use THIS as a commercial for this day and age.

  • Anybody notice the simular slogan to Kit Kat?

  • @Pokemvp Only around 100 or so of the other people who have commented on this video.

  • wow

they used to sell coke like it's champagne or something

  • @polymorphic123 Not really. As I've mentioned before, that this commercial is aimed at a wealthy audience is odd, considering it aired live in a show featuring a teen-idol pop singer. Sure, commercials often try to make costumers get a product for image, but still....that said, the show aired in a 15-minute timeslot. The other 15-minute show was a newscast (before newscasts became a full 30 minutes). At the time, TV watching was often done by the whole family in the living room, but still....

  • u rarely see a man in a tux in a diner these days =/

  • DAMN THIS SHIT MAKES ME THIRSTY

  • Lol coke use to have cocaine in it hahahaha not lying

  • Its 'plays'. In those days breaks or intermissions were inserted into plays or 3-hpur long movies for actors to change sets and for audiance to rever from the tight concentration

  • Do you have any idea what he says at 0:20? - Is it 'places', or 'plays?'

'Now that's why __?__ have intermissions!'

Using these ads for a language investigation for A2 English language course

  • @slurpyburp He's using the word "plays" in this commercial at around 0:20.

  • hahah coke was actually used in coke when it first came out

  • you think you're sophisticated but you're just another corn-syrup drinking dufus

  • @delas3th This was before they put the evil thing known as corn-syrup in Coca-Cola (and Pepsi for that matter). As such, you will be punished by a ninja with severe insomnia within the next 28 hours.

  • @MattTheSaiyan Corn-syrup actually isn't THAT bad for you. I don't know why everyone thinks that!

  • @kilkun My problem with corn-syrup isn' to do with health. I just prefer real, actual sugar.

  • @kilkun the problem is in your own words "isn't THAT bad for you," of course it's not. A little here and there isn't a problem at all. The problem comes in when most of our foods and drinks are filled with it so you end up drinking and eating unhealthy corn syrup all day. Arizona green tea for example ... There's so much corn syrup in that, you can actually taste it clearly. And what's corn syrup doing in any tea?

  • coke i s acually so acidic, that if you put a piece of stake in a jar full of coke, it will dissolve completely after a couple days

  • Man that guy was chugging it at the end. You could see his throat wobbling.

  • take a break have a Coke, *Sniff*

  • 'have yourself a break - have a coke'

I think Coca Cola should sue the makers of Kit Kat for stealing their catch line

  • Makes me want a cold coke

  • Quick, fresh energy that only true crack cocaine can give! :D

  • I just love how beverages that are loaded with sugar are advertised as "giving you quick, fresh energy."

  • I wonder what was the original cola flavour like.

  • Leave Coca Cola alone. Coca Cola is been around for ever and I grew up with the soft drink. It's America's true Blessing.

  • smallest cups ive ever seen:)

  • Coke is awsome. Better commercials then now day coke commercials.

  • Give yourself a break..have a snort

  • Hey matt i need you to write down the script of this commercial. Using it for a history fair.

  • it funny if you look at sales records coke is STILL the most asked for soda in the world

  • @satnapillowpants But it did have a sales drop problem during the 1970s/early 1980s. Thus "New Coke" was born, which won taste tests at first, but ended up being a perfect case of a fail so epic, it actually *did* become a win.

  • This one has cocaine

  • @jimin947 You will be attacked by the Ginyu force witihin the next 9.5 hours.

  • @MattTheSaiyan This has to be one of the most random comments I've ever read in my life. And among the funniest.

  • @jimin947 cocaine was illegal by 1954 and they were forced to remove it.

I think they took it out in the 20s

  • No controls = more cocaine

  • A 50's commercial about coca cola? more like Nuka Cola to me. :p

Thumbs up if you know what I mean. :D

  • @FalloutNVplayah how bout thumbs down so you can stop being a youtube comment whore.

    P.S. Fallout sucks

  • it was probably nice growing up back then-well besides not getting ever

  • If u were a kid back then and u had 100 dollars u wold be Like a god now not the same

  • Today they'd be drinking from a refillable jumbo cup and they'd weigh 300 lbs each.

  • Get a drink? I thought intermissions were pee breaks!

  • you say its Energy? i say its cocaine.

thumb up if you know what im talking about.

  • They still use cocaine leafs to flavour coca-cola, however the cocaine component is removed by U.S Pharmaceutical companies from the leafs before coca-cola recieve them

  • Same calories at half a grapefruit?

Serving size would be about 6 ounces, then.

  • @chieromancer In fact, the average Coca-Cola bottle was about 6 and a half ounces during this time. I think the large bottle came a few years after this commercial, but I could be wrong.

  • @MattTheSaiyan

I like how the thumbs up # the same for your explanation as the person you corrected. It's like they were all going, "Yeah. It WOULD be the equivalent to 6 ounces." Then they saw your answer and were like, "Yeah! The average serving size back then WAS 6 and a half ounces!"

Stupid sheep. Have a Coke and a smile and shut the f*** up, people. You're just clicking thumbs to be like everyone else. By the way, you're right Matt. As America grew fatter, the drinks grew bigger.

  • @chieromancer well the cups in this video were small enough to look about 6oz

  • @chieromancer You're right... look at the size of the glasses

  • NUKA COLA

  • i still wish there was actual cocaine in coca cola those were the days.

  • That's an 8 -12oz serving = 3 swallows by today's standards. Also before they loaded it down with sodium and high fuck-tose corn syrup....

  • At 0:37, the guy made a face like he was drinking straight Jim Beam! lol

  • In the 1950s Coca Cola used sugar and not corn syrup giving it the crisper flavor.

In addition to that the serving was typically 100ml or just under 4oz which is about 45 calories. Half a Grapefruit is 46 calories.

  • @cloverlief Yeah, the retro Dr. pepper and Mountain dew taste completely different than that of today. The sugar drinks taste WAY better, and probably healthier than corn syrup and sodium crap of today.

  • @Landotter1 You can now buy Coke, Pepsi, and other soft drinks made with "real" sugar now.

  • thums up if you drink cola right now because of this

  • man ppl in the 50s were so fake...such con artists.

  • man i just find it so creepy how people dressed back than, i mean they dont dress creepy its juss how fit all these people look, they look like robots, i could juss imagine what horrors some of these people hold. "damn bioshock got me thinking wrong" :\

  • @sushiitron if you think about it....it's no more creepy than people today wearing their pants so low that their underwear shows....or wearing the absurd but obligitory "turned around baseball hat". People dressed neater back then....it was a reflection of how more orderly society was......there were boundries. Leaving the shameful racial & gender inequality factor aside the country was infinately better shape than today

  • Where's this "coke" fountain?

  • @ToysNoiz .......LOL>.......where is this coke fountain? well.....years ago they were everywhere. When I was a kid, long before large corporate pharmacies there were small, privately owned pharmacies that were lovingly referred to as "the corner drug store". Every drug store back then had a soda fountain that usually sold coffee, soft drinks, ice cream, gum/candy cigarettes, cigars, pipe tobacco and even food.....sandwiches, burgers etc

  • @inkey2 Aw, that's very funny. God I wish things would stay the same. "Coke" has a new meaning now.

In the old McDonald's ads, the kids would say "Mmm, great Coke."

  • back when people had class haha

  • You know what is sad? Back then we ate and drank what we wanted and were healthier then most people today.

  • @MultiMrfalcon That's true, but maybe that's cause we were younger,no?

  • @Raman711 I am talking about the general population as a whole. Think about it, if you are from that generation, we did not worry about our food and drink intake and we had less of a problem with obesity. Maybe more active back then? I don't know. I do know that everything you touched was high in sugar and salt.

  • @MultiMrfalcon Oh people were definately more active back then....think about it....we did not have all the devices that lures a person to just sit at home and eat. TV sets only had 3 active channels....there was only 3 networks, no home computers, no dvds, no movies at a snap of a finger.....kids would be riding their bikes for like 3 hour stretches at a time...in many cases, like myself, on the weekend I would be biking all over the neighborhood all day

  • Fuck the 50s

  • @redcomic619 Fuck yourself :)

  • @cmikeyful No, fuck the 50s.

  • @redcomic619 Having sex with decades sounds interesting. But do I need to use protection while doing it?

  • @redcomic619 just curious....what don't you like about the 1950s......I remember in the 60s the 50s seemed idiotic and absurd but as the decades rolled by.....and society got worse and worse.....the 50s took on a halo of deep nostalgia

  • @inkey2 The 1950s were idiotic and absurd. The '50s had such a disgusting and irrational society, If you were black, you were an animal. If you were gay, you were a paedophile. If you were a Communist, you were out to kill all Americans. Thank god I was born in the 1990s (the best decade in human history.) Yes, society isn't perfect, but it's improving.

  • @redcomic619 actually, you make some great points...you know your history well. To us who actually lived through it , it seems like a safer time to us.......we didn't have numerous wars going at once, pretty much anyone (white) could get a great middle class job with a decent salary and benefits, the country was not on the verge of a total financial collapse, the schools actually taught you something and generally crime was very low.

  • @inkey2 I hear that from a lot of people who've lived through it, and those are good points. I would argue however, that the safeness was just an illusion created by the suburban paradises of the time. Humans are still humans and have always been violent. As for the economy, you're absolutely correct, you're right about education too. As someone who has gone through the modern public school system, I can assure you that they do NOT teach American children to be critical thinkers its useless info

  • Funny! Thanks for airing.

  • Uh, hi... could I get an adult-sized glass, please?
