hey guys i don´t know anything about those "american" washers.. BUT to me it sounds like the seal between the agitator and the drum, the seal to prevent water running down into the gearing and the bottom of the machine.. it might just need some new oil to be safe buy a new and change it.. otherwise it could be some kind of suspension that are squeeky :)
I have the same washer but my problem is when its on the spinning cycle sometimes the whole basket inside begins to shack around hitting the sides of the washer
Your problem is the brake under the machine take the belt off and the pulley you will need spring compression tool the remove the cover screws to change the brake part No# 21002010 get the spring tool from your maytag dealer that will solve your problem
Your problem is the brake under the machine change the brake part number (21002010 Brake and rotor asy) retails for $16.00. You will need to slip the belt off and remove the pulley and their is a cover with 5 5/16" screws but before you remove the cover you must have the brake remover tool from your Maytag dealer its a spring compression tool to compress the spring on the cover and to let up on the tension on the cover that should solve your problem.
Your problem is the Brake Change the brake you will need a tool to change it remove the pulley and the dust cap and the retainer clip and you will need a 5/16 socket wrench but before you remove the cover you must have the brake tool remover from your Maytag dealer get the model number of the washer should start with NAV they will know which tool to give you the part no# 21002010 the brake and rotor asy. retail for $15.00
its the tub brake,my friend works for sears,i bet it does not do that if you add more water, put more water because the motor pulley is plastic and will snap off
Sounds like the tub brake slipping as well...typical cheap Norgetag. Part of the problem though (to me anyway) is that it appears you're using too low of a water level. The resulting thrashing that takes places (vs. steady rollover) is what is putting the force on the tub brake.
I can see the tub moving with each noise, now my machine is not a maytag so i dont know what that means, but whith 2 people saying it is the transmission it probably is.
i think the noise is coming from the transmission it has some plastic gears in it i use dto work on appliances so i know what kinds of problems they can have
Call whirlpool fix since they now own Maytag now

The worst thing Maytag ever did was use that Norge design.

@1serge6969 That's an imbalanced load. Stop the washer, re-adjust the load.... start again.

We have that same washer...call home depot or Maytag, it is probably the Tranny and they should be able to replace it.

This is an Admiral, which is the same design as the newer Maytags. Some others mentioned that it is the brake, which is most likely.

it sounds like an agitator part is either grinding or may be too tight.
