  • Hi there is there two different functions for the light like on/off bing one andn/ dim or side lamp i cant remember brcause usually there are only one function but in your other video of a 153 the lights changed somehow so i was wandering if all 153 can do that ill sub if u comment thanks

  • @reviewerashley it's basically white lights as it comes towards you and red as it goes away. There's no switch anywhere to alter this - it's fixed. The lights are realistic and do reflect how they operate in real life.

  • How well does it cope with second radius curves? I've heard that Hornby's 153s don't like second radius curves, is this true?

  • I have a Northern Rail Class 153 and they are fab!!

  • @InterCity82 I tried that and found an unopened one on Rushvic Models for £75

  • I searched 153 on Hornby's website and the East Midlands 153 didn't come up, does this mean its been discontinued? If it has that's a real shame 'cause I really wanted one.

  • Thanks for providing free reviews of new model trains. They are very useful for deciding whether to buy one or not, especially as you film them close up.

  • @AtleeDeltic - free? FREE? They're not supposed to be free? You're supposed to pay me £5 for every one you watch!? lol - just joking. I wish tho hey?! haha No, I do it purely and simply because I enjoy it and I like to help other people out. If you ever have any requests or suggestions feel free to get in touch.

  • I like this vid very much

  • ‎"that end it says Nottingham, the other it says... Sleaford? not sure where that is." East Midlands funnily enough.......

  • i love the class 153 it like one or my favorite trains but i always try to avoid getting a sprinter when your on the main line some times you have like a 150/153 or something from penzance to tauten witch it really silly but i love it when you going threw a small country line . the looe line in Cornwall is my favorite line iv been on it fantastic

  • In this you said: "I can't wait to get her running on the proper layout, going past trees and bridges and buildings and it would be just like the real thing!" what proper layout?

  • @Pendolino1711 - i have been building a proper layout for some time. Videos on it are coming up.

  • @InterCity82 YEY!

  • that's what I have got

  • I love class 153s. But out of all the liveries its got to be the east midlands one great video :)

  • Comment removed

  • Can you tell me how to DCC a DCC ready train (or make a video)

  • @SmashBangCrash - there is one on my channel called 'DC to DCC in Under 10 Mins!' :)

  • so cool ... thumbs up and faved!!!

  • I get that train to school

  • the Class 153 are my fav!! :)

  • I have a Northern one and i have to say, its my favorite hornby loco

  • can you put a sound chip in the class 153

  • im so getting one of them

  • Can you attach any other rail cars or does it run alone?

  • @louisekaille - if you want, you can attach others.

  • Sleaford is Just outside Peterborough btw.

  • mine makes a scraping sound like metal scraping metal when at about 40%+ power, is this normal?

  • @HobbyFiend - no, I would open it up and have a look inside - asap

  • @InterCity82 i had a look and it is the pickups scraping against the wheels should this happen?

  • @intercity82 Have you done a northern rail yet

  • is it good?

  • @trainmania100 - what? This model gets an overall score of 10 out of 10. You can't get higher. So yes, it's more than good. It's EXCELLENT!

  • where did you get it from

  • @hornby3333 - a model shop in Nottingham

  • will you chip her?

  • @fletcho909 - definitely :)

  • hi intercity82! I was wondering how you can get all of those junctions and other tracks to work with dcc?

  • @Superbenjem go on modelzone website they should still sell them

  • I want one but hornby don't sell it anymore:(

  • i've got an arriva class 153

  • really nice models checked out alot of your vids do you just collect trains ??

  • how much is it?

  • @BenTrainFan - you mean how much was it? As it might be more or less now seeing as I did look at over a year ago. I think I paid £55 or something around there.

  • @InterCity82 yer

  • @InterCity82 i might get it lots of them are very a lot of money

  • Comment removed

  • that must be new new livery cos i havent seen this at all n i live next to the train line but still im geting it

  • The Central liveried one was the most recent one I got.

Might have to get this one too.

    LIKED.  :}

  • ok then

  • can you join the 153s up together

  • @mickeyC811 - it might be possible, shall I see if I can do a video on it?

  • are you going to get a class 156 because i have one in northen rail livery and she is superb she happens to be a rare settle-calsile one. these units actuly operate in my area which is widnes in cheshire.

  • @2012Mrlego - I may get one in time, yes - but I'm not in any major rush.

  • I've just recently bought one of these for £41 in North West Trains blue with Northern Rail branding livery. Runs very smoothly and front and rear lights are brilliant on DC- so bright.

  • Picked up a northern rail one as found that to be in my view a great looking livery and cheap as managed to get it for £47, but got take it back as the tail lights in one direction don't work. So im gutted bout that as they are absolutely lovely DMU's like you mentioned

  • @WayneWelly - lol it's just DMUs mate - not DMU's - but yeah they are nice, incredible units for the money really.

  • @InterCity82 yeah they are, well got it back from my local model shop turned out to be dirty connectors on the lighting part so happy now got it back up and running lol

  • Hey, IC82 where do you get your locomotives from? And how much did this loco cost?

  • @Kanukarus - I get them from all over really, and this one came from a shop in Nottingham, costing £55.

  • I love those things. Grew up watching them going back and forth over a rail bridge near my house.

  • Australia

  • I'm getting the northern rail one as soon as I have saved up and I'm in england

  • @Liverpoolfcfever - cool! where are you right now then?

  • ok but if you have got the flying scotsman set can you please do a review of it for me. THANK YOU

  • have you got a FIRST SCOTRAIL class 158 or class 170 if so can you please do a review of them for me. THANK YOU.

  • @liam2794 - I don't have either of those trains (yet) but you might be able to find someone else on YouTube that's got them and reviewed them.

  • @VirginTrainsRules - it's supposed to protect and insulate the DCC chip from the rest of the locomotive - but they can cause the microchips to overheat and so I don't use them. Famously. :)

  • I might try and buy the cheapest one of these e.g. £45 and put a vinyl sticker in First Great Western livery on it but I am 50/50 on doing it. What do you think of that idea?

  • @ipodwindow - erm, I think it's harmless to try it out! Especially for £45 :)

  • @InterCity82, Ok thanks for replying. I will give it a go in the near future.

  • ALTOGETHER HOW MANY TRAINS HAVE YOU GOT

  • @liam2794 - just over 100

  • where di you get this one

  • @shwanrasoul - Shrewsbury Model Centre :)

  • @InterCity82 ok so thats very far away from where i live

  • MY FAV I WANT IT BUT I CANT GET ONE no money :'(

  • How much does she cost for the northern rail one

  • @Liverpoolfcfever - about the same. £55 ish

  • i got east midlands and london midlands class 153 i was VERY impressed!

  • @CorporalKinsa - yeah they're nice aren't they! :)

  • awesome this is my fave hornby train (On looks ... i dont actually have any hornby trains)

  • i dont think that hornby packaging is safe because when i got my midland star starter set some of the couplings fell off the trucks while unpacking it!! anyway im getting a class 153 london midland :)

  • im going to get a class 153 london midland train

  • i got this train for 50 and wow it really is fantastic thinking off selling my hst and buying another class 153

  • I just bought a Class 153 in Wessex Trains livery. However I had no chance to try it out yet, as it waits to be DCC-ed. It's my first Hornby train (impossible to get these here, in Poland) and I must say it looks perfect.

  • @Xeerion - you will LOVE it :) trust me

  • @InterCity82 Do they do a Arriva Trains Wales, First Great Western and London Midland class 153 model

  • @Cazkumali - check out Hornby's site to see

  • @InterCity82 I've looked and The liveries they do are Regional Railways, London Midland, Wessex Railways Black, Arriva Trains Wales, Northern, North West Trains Blue with Gold Star and East Midlands Train the one on this video

  • i love hornby but i havent got any money to buy some

  • wow i love this i will get one once i have track lol

  • what is the difrence between the 153 and the 2 car dmus that look the same

  • @gtacrusher123 - the 153 is basically just a single unit from a 155, with the drivers cab made a little bit smaller and more seats put in.

  • @InterCity82 but what is the point in them being a 1 car dmu than a 2 car dmu

  • @gtacrusher123 - well think about it. It's cheaper to run a single unit than a double unit for a start. On many lines there just aren't enough passengers to warrant having a 2-car DMU and so the single car DMU was invented. It was actually invented by the GWR many decades ago, and has been revised numerous times since. But single car DMUs are propular all over the world, as they're cheap to run, easy to maintain and can carry just enough passengers on a particular non-busy route. :)

  • @InterCity82 so about how much are the 153's

  • @gtacrusher123 - it's 153s (no apostrophe needed as it's just plural) ;) but they cost about £55. Some people can get them for £50 or even less but then some shops have them at £60 or above. So shop around! But I definitely recommend them! :)

  • @InterCity82 ok

  • hi can you get this dcc fitted because i seen one on ebay and it said it was dcc fitted and i wanna buy it

  • @mongoosekid14 - yes all Hornby class 153s are DCC ready or DCC fitted.

  • @InterCity82 ok i will go and buy one now cant wait whooo

  • I wish they had it in First Great Western livery because then it would match my class 142. Then I would buy it. Great model never the less.

  • Will, After HAZZASIB saying that peco track is better. is Peco track or Hornby track better? I obviously want my locos running on the best track when I get my layout started. so, Peco or Hornby :)

  • @HornbyExpress - to be honest I've found very little difference in performance between Hornby track and Peco track. I would say abut 60% of my track is Peco and 40% is Hornby (as most of that has come from the train sets). But Peco track is made in the UK so that's one good reason to buy it. :)

  • @InterCity82 okay, well there is a little model railway shop down the motorway but... isnt it just great that I live in Australia, so I have to pay alot more :L

  • Sleaford is near Peterborough.(just in case you wanted to know!)

  • if you can buy nothern noe of them

  • Use peco track its so much better!

  • @HAZZASIB - I use both.

  • @GeeksvilleStudios - what do you mean 'for a Hornby'? Hornby often get slated for lack of detail but that's only because they do lower end models too - no other manufacturer does. Bachmann, Heljan and ViTrains all, only bring out high end, high detail models. Hornby don't. They bring out a wide range of models, from high end detail right down to budget end no detail. But you're right, the class 153 is definitely one of their best at the moment (as of Feb 2011) and everyone should have one!

  • I have this one. I bought it at The Festival of British Railway Modelling at Doncaster Racecourse at the weekend. Bargain price too - only paid £40!!! Brand new, boxed as per the video clip.

  • I have the northern livered 153

  • nice model, Might get a NR Rail 153, couple it with a NR 142 :)

It should look good on your layout, when are you building it?

  • @armleyroad - it's been under construction for some time but videos on it are coming up!

  • @InterCity82 do they have carriages for that.

  • @London667568 - a DMU such as this IS a carriage. But one with an engine slung underneath it. They're designed to run around perfectly happy on their own - but can be coupled to other similar units when required.

  • where are her buffers ?

  • @thomas18787 - they don't have buffers :)

  • They should create coaches instead of just the one coach.

  • if it said up on the top right dcc ready then it has lights

  • thats nice
