  • Okay, to clarify, english is the ICAO standard. You cannot receive a PPL or higher without being able to pass a communication test. This is usually only administered to individuals from continents other then N.A. However a pilot can choose to speak any language he wants, but if the controller doesn't understand it nothing is going to happen. English as a standard is simply there to guarantee that everyone in the industry has one common link by which to communicate.

  • my grampa probaly sold this king air he was head salesman for 9 years.

  • Request progressive taxi instructions to drop off 500 keys.

  • im a pilot and sometimes i speak in russian to the atc.

  • Not true,

If only native speakers are on frequency then the language used can be either english or the native. As soon as a foreign speaker comes on frequency then the language used should be english to allow all pilots to maintain situational awareness regarding the airspace they are operating in.

  • That isnt true! When a foreign speaker comer to frequency, he is given the service in English, but the rest of the comm's on freq remains as before... thats the procedure in MMMX at least

  • Poor marks for the use of another language besides English - which is the ICAO language of aviation. Good landing though.
