Guus, this is all just brilliant. I only saw Solution play live once, at Imperial College London in 1974. It was a great gig and I remember it well. All the best to you and take care.
I saw Solution at Liverpool Uni Students Union round about 1974. The small audience loved it and for an encore the band played the whole set again - fantastic. I went and got the album Divergence, and it's still a favourite
I'me really sorry, but I can't remember this gig, but do remember that we loved to play those early gigs in England: small audience, lots of enthousiasme.... unforgettable...thanks again!
You do realize that we stopped in 1983 but did a reunion-concert in 2006?

A beautiful piece! I used to listen to this as a student revising for my finals back in 1976, it helped me when I was burning the midnight oil. Although the guitar version is good, it just does not have the dynamics and sensitivity of the original saxophone version. The album version was so clear, that a friend claimed that you could hear the build up of saliva gurgling away in Tom's sax!
Geweldig geweldig, ik ben erg blij met deze muziek en zeker de beelden van 1 van Nederlands grootste Prog Jazz rock bands, je hoort er veel te weinig van, ben er echt heel blij mee
I too wonder about the story behind Focus using this tune.
One of the joys of seeing Jan Akkerman is wondering which interpretation will feature in his set. Will he lay off and play the mellow version like on the OGWT sessions or will he rip it up and blast it out like the 'Rainbow' concert. Both are equally amazing. I've even heard him play it entirely in the 'violin' style which he pioneered all those years ago. Truly beautiful as befits this gorgeous melody.
What is the story about this melody and Jan Akkerman using it for 'Tommy' Jan has been playing this since 1971 (at least) He now really expert in playing it now - he extemporised on it for 15 minutes this year in Wolverhampton. It was magical
I have your lp album Divergence, and simply love it! I always knew there had to be a good friendship between both bands, or else how could they call it Tommy? But it's so nice to see written by a Solution member!
[ooit het slagwerkeindexamen van een drumleraar overgeslagen om aan de overkant van de Haagse Prinsegracht in het Paard van Troje op de harde vloer te kunnen zitten en Solution te horen. Geen spijt.]

Great band ever so underestimated and above all; if this song does not touch you, you miss out of the many sounds Solution made inmortal.

We made the song, Focus heard it and recorded it. After their release we released our album....and we're still friends!

I heard a lot of music when / since I was 20.
This is a song I will still love when I'm 94 years old.
