  • I was on the Fortitude from June 1976 and she never had gallows then, they were fitted later that year or early 77, also she has dauntless winch on this video, it was not fitted till about 78. The wheelhouse of the Cluaran is on the pier beside the ice factory, it was off when she was being fitted with a Kelvin engine to replace the Scania. That would have been about late 77.

  • Had to be between 1975 (when Bute had extensions fitted to her lift supports) and 1979 (when Loch Arkaig sank).

  • Very good considering the equipment available in these days.

    I remember offloading passengers, luggage and mail from the Loch Seaforth to a small boat just off Applecross when the bealach na Ba was the only road to the village.
