As much as I appreciate this channel, this video was a bit pointless, wasn't it. Was there something especially new in it? Has someone come up with a cunning way to rescue people in ruined buildings with this? Might as well have left this to the text media, instead of wasting bandwidth on something like this.
clearly we build a really big one attach it to a really big plane and fly it over to someone we really don't like and laugh manically like a comic book villain, mwuha, mwuhaha, MWUHAHAHA! whose with me? (I might know where you live!)
Usually newscientist i can accept the seemingly irrelevent short clips due to them usually having far reaching applications but seriously what was that?
just after the video stopped the machine lost control -ala ed 209 in robocop- and made a bee-line straight to the nearest trailer park. cant fight the feeling
@soulhunger1 Hot air rises, cold air decends. when a cold front moves in at a higher layer of the atmosphere, the hot air forces its way thru the cold air and the cold air forces its way down thru the hot air. and they pass thru each other in a similar way of how water funnels and spirals down a drain
Usually they have a voice over on these videos instead of the video sound. This was a bit pointless if they don't tell how it works and what it is useful for.
why is everyone on about cancer? cancers not even the largest killer of people anyway, and not all scientists want to study cures for cancer, why dont you get off your chair and cure cancer if your so worried about it ffs
looks like a big wste of money to me to create something that makes styrofoam peanuts go around in moving circles on a table. couldn't someone just put them in a big bowl on wheels and stir them around with a big spoon? i'm just joking...
You can tell the depth of ignorance some people have towards science by the dumb comments and the vile language. Lack of language skills/empty heads always go for the swear words when speaking.
@teleomorph I'm betting they track the individual pieces and model storm systems with the information - something that may indeed lead to "new" science.
So many small minds failing to comprehend the greatness behind such science. If you're not impress, go make your own mini tornado making machine; and then come back and talk shit.

Every "Tornado simulator" I've seen seems to be based upon mechanical air movers, I.E. a fan or fans of some configuration.
Why doesn't researchers build a tornado simulator that employs the same natural forces which naturally contribute to tornado formation ?
