  • YOUR FUCKIN DEADLY MAN! I got this same drum kit and I didn't even know you could do such shit on there, I'm a guitar player myself... but the shit you just did with that kit... holy fuck you should be charged for RAPE!

  • YOU FUCKING NAILED IT! HAAKE WOULD GIVE YOU PROPS!

  • daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn your tight man good job

  • You have some great ability man. I also wanted to comment on the guy hating on e drums. ive been a drummer for 15 years along with my dad and uncle who are both pro. They BOTH have vdrums for practice. From a actively gigging drummer, You cant always set ur kit up where ever u want to for practice. A good drummer will use anything to further his ability. so im with ya on that ! Anyway, Great vids man, Its nice to see there are still drummers out there that keep their style versatile.

  • how long did it take to learn this song?

  • Fuck yeah dude! Great cover! I hear ya on the living situation, my band is doing the same thing starting this week, we're all going direct into a DAW and using superior drummer and such (Alesis DM6 kit).

  • Dude how did you trigger cymbals with the tom rims?? Awesum job btw!

  • Great cover man!

  • i think you are too big or the kit is too small ..

  • Dammmm haskitt.....i've seen this video so many times, but even so, i can't resist to see it once again....=D it is soooo awesome....

  • wow... this kit is awesome, dude!! is this metal foundry?! you kick's ass!!

  • Man! How did you get the cymbals sounds on the rims?

  • fuck yeah!

  • Bro that was awesome!

  • that rocked!!!!!

  • 2:35 Beautiful, just beautiful. All the ghost notes, the details, everything.

  • How tall are you?!

  • PRETTY GOOD! I JAMMED ALONG ON GUITAR! JAKE_144

  • youre an amazing drummer, hands down!

  • You're amazing at covering songs, i've not seen anyone cover a meshuggah or tool song as good as you have, you have epic musical talent!

i was wondering tho if you could cover a lamb of god song (drums) since they're my favorite band and your covers are amazing.

  • good cover haha, looks so funny tho because you are a lot bigger than the kit

  • Yeah!!!

  • dddoooooddddeeee..... I like the way you play drums, friendship greetings from Indonesia...

  • Man I really would like to thank you, cause this video of yours made buy the same kit, and I also watched the others video of your and now I ´m dreaming to make the same upgrade that you made!

I quite agree with you in yours last reply that playing and eletronic is harder than an acoustic, but this kit is fucking great, and once I get a good notebook I´ll try to run the VST using the rim as you did!

Congratulations from Brazil( that´s why my english sucks), you´re my inspiration in eletronic!!!

  • totally awesome dude, i'm very impressed. tight job.

  • Great cover. I just dont think that electronic kits should count. You truly can drum. But i strongly urge you to by a real kit.

  • @TamaDrummerBrian Ha... thanks - count towards what? I have had acoustic drums for 20 + years but can't play them in my current living situation. I can only use my acoustics for gigs and band rehearsals. Electronics have given me a way to keep improving... and it is a REAL kit. Just electronic. To be honest, playing the this kit is much harder than the acoustic kit.

  • @haskitt i think that having a full sized kit where you have to tune it rather than just clicking some buttons is more realistic. I understand the space issue. I was gonna do that for when i went off to college. I just think that having a rim sound like a china is some bullshit. Still much respect for the technique.

  • @TamaDrummerBrian - I agree... tuning and being able to get the sound out of an acoustic drum with good technique is priceless, and something never learned on an electronic kit. I gotta say though, adjusting to playing on this kit after acoustics... especially the rim as a china was a pretty steep learning curve! Smaller movements are generally harder to memorize for me.

  • @haskitt hahahahaha ill agree on the small movements. I love electronic kits. But just for messing around. Like their melodious settings are so cool. But im just not a fan of acoustic over electric.

  • @TamaDrummerBrian Stop trolling man. You just had you talk crap assuming you know this guy and what he does. Yeah Real drums are great but so is the alternative. If you have your e-drums set up like a full size "acoustic" there is hardly any difference in feel and technique.

  • @d3tach3d besdies the fact that the size of the drum isnt there. oh and the fact that you cant tune them or deal with the problems youd normally have. oh and the fact that the mesh doesnt give the full effect of the bounce back. and the bass drum (unless made of mesh) is like hitting a piece of wood. And the fact that the cymbals arent the same size as they should be. So the entire kit is so much smaller than a normal one. But yeah besides that. What the fuck does trolling man? Leave me alone.

  • @TamaDrummerBrian I respect your opinion on "acoustic drums" which i agree with, but this is an E-drum video and no one wants to hear comments about how much better an acoustic kit is....its all been said before. "My setup" is a :Full Size: kit with real cymbals that are all triggered in my Drum Kit From Hell Superior software. The same software that meshuggah used on most there latest albums. I also get a 10,000$ drum tone for about a total of 400$. Also living in apartment "keeps noise down"

  • @d3tach3d well i commented on his video because i saw the others on youtube and he played it the best. And i said that. Drumkit from hell is sweet, and especially for meshuggah covers, but you didn't post one so i really dont care. I just think that electronic kits have certain uses and he is using it. But i don't think that under most other circumstances i could agree with someone using e-kits over the classic kit. If they were just as good they would use them live.

  • @TamaDrummerBrian what bullshit? if there is no video or you're blind, you won't know the difference.

  • @ransisua butttttttt im not blind. and there is a video. i can program a keyboard to do the same thing. acoustic all the way.

  • @TamaDrummerBrian Yes, I know you're not. He shouldn't have made this video. Only sound. So you wouldn't know it and quit bitching about it.

E-drum is not only keep your neighbor happy, but also saves couple tens of thousands bucks of bucks to produce this sound quality. So, why not learning e-drum. Same with the keyboard if you want to learn it.

  • @ransisua The important part of drumming is the drums itself. not the sound you get on a camera. who cares about that. its the rythym and technique that come with a real set that make it what it is. Theres no use because your too stubborn to level with me so its pointless to continue this.

  • @TamaDrummerBrian I see, you think the sound is not important. Well, I can't argue with that, that's an opinion. But like haskitt said, it's not that different when you play e-drum or a-drum. In fact, some people find it more difficult to play on e-drum. Play both first, then talk.

    Ciao

  • @TamaDrummerBrian this is youtube, everyone will find something to complain about. go watch a couple acoustic covers, most have people complaining about the sound quality. both acoustic and electric have their ups and downs, end of story.

  • @zonfar Thanks for repeating me.

  • @TamaDrummerBrian I didn't see you're comment that said that, and I think I meant to reply to ransisua but youtubes commenting system is confusing me

  • @zonfar No worries dude. i didnt realize it was a different person. i was just trying to be a dick to ransisua. The systems got me too. haha

  • @TamaDrummerBrian Well most people can't use them since they're too loud and my neighbors complain all the time when I drum, so I'm saving up for an electronic kit right now. I like acoustic > electronic though.

  • @Doodorz yeah i agree. I hate my neighbors because they complain about the noise. but stuff happens.

  • Excellent! I was smiling all the way! Awesome playing man! :)

Also liked that Superior Drummer 2 sounds are just perfect!

  • This is fucking seriously awesome. Especially considering that you are using electric drum kits.

  • Really awesome cover. Great job dude!

  • Finally someone who can keep up with Haake's stuff! nice to see that :)

  • yeahhhhhh!!! Duudeeeeeeeeeeeeeee GOD DAM!!

  • unbelivable nice cover

  • Hey!

Awesome cover! I'm thinking of buying some V-drums, but I'm not quite sure which ones to get, what would you recommend?

Also, how do you assign samples to your drums via TS2?, specifically for snare drum, I saw you got ghost notes sounding different from your regular rimshot.

    thanks :D.

  • Hey!

    thanks :D.

  • this was absolutely awesome!

  • I dont know what to say. Are you in a band or do you teach drums? Where did you learn how to play like this I'd love to know I've been playing for years and hopefully I can reach this level soon.

  • @cac4twenty - Hey, thanks. I play in a few bands, and I teach. For this style of metal, I suggest going through books like David Garibaldi's "Future Sounds" and any linear fusion style playing.

  • Incredible cover man! Keep them coming.

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!! THAT WAS SO PERFECT! (and i mean it)

  • i also have a roland td-4k but how did you get the snaredrum sound like that?

  • @SuperAli1996 - None of the sounds are from the module... midi output is going to usb, triggering toontrack superior drummer 2.

  • Great video. I'm just wondering; I have a Td-4k triggering Superior 2.0 aswell, but it seems there are only one trigger zone on my tom pads - are you using a different module so that you get 2 trigger zones?

  • @ansjosen - Not using another module here... I just switched the tom inputs with the crash inputs so that my toms are dual zone and the crash is single zone.

  • Haskitt, you hands down have the best Soul Burn cover on YouTube but just for laughs would you mind telling me what you think of the Soul Burn cover on my channel?

  • omg. right around the middle of the song, i had to say out loud, Scott, you're awesome.

This is Julian, Alex Wagner's little brother? I think you work with her

You are totally on my subscribe list.

    Keep up the good work!

  • I love the way this song ends.

    "BUUUUURRRRRRN!!

    BEEEAAAAAAAAAAUAUAUUUURRRRN!!!!1"

    Gingk a-Gink-gink-gingk a-Gingk a-Gink a-Gink-gink a-Gink

    SIX-TEENTH-NOTE-OFF-B3ATS-BIATCH!!

  • Great playing dude :D

A bit funny thou with those tiny drums with this kind of music :)

  • You nailed it dude! Awesome!

  • dude ! fuck fuck fuck fuckin great !

  • Very good!!! Nice cover!!

  • thats a great cover

    i like so much

    good work men

  • AWESOME!

I just have a question. During the solo, and the outro, Haake plays the rhythm but mixes it with fills and stuff. When you do these fills, are they improvised or have you made them and memorized them before playing? If you have improvised, do you count all the time (1 2 3 4 etc.) to know when you're back on the rhtyhm again? Basically, would you be able to play this song without any earphones or metronome?

  • Nice!!!

  • Hey man! good work! sorry about my english! suck, but i do my best! jejee, i have a very big question, i wanna know if with a TD-4 I would be able to play the dual trigger pads in toms, beacuse the td-4 brain doesnt work with toms rimshots!!! does the adictive drums can do it ? i see that you can do it with toontrack! nice drumming!!! thanks!!!

  • You sound great! I just got a TD4SX and I would love to have this setup. Is there a way to play like this, but have the music come out of the amp? I know I have to hook up the TD4 module to a midi interface (like M Audio Pro USB), but then how do I get the modified Superior Drummer 2.0 sounds to come out of an amp instead of headphones?

    Thanks!

  • @jtech404

Nevermind, I figured it out! I got the M Audio Fast TrackPro USB, connected it to my drum module using a Male->Male MIDI cable. Then, I used a quarter inch instrument cable to connect the M Audio to the amp (the cable goes from the TSR Output 1 jack on the M Audio to the Aux jack in the Simmons drum amp)

  • Nicw, very nice. I've been learning that one for a while now. You make it look easy, good on ya.

  • I was wondering how you set up the China cymbals to be on the rim of the pads. Im planning to get a Roland TD-12 KV this year, as I need a new kit, and im in uni, so I dont have much space and people would get pissed at an acoustic sound. Is it easy to set up different sounds for different parts of the kit?

  • Thanks for clarifying... truth be told, me too!

  • dude dont even fucking lie and tell me that the intro beat to this song is main fucking awesome!

    perfect cover 5/5!

  • You are my hero! I stopped eating wheaties every morning and just watch this video instead!

  • kickass

  • haha, RIMS :L so not funny, me being immature and silly. SILLY BOY.

  • Hey man, this is fucking awesome and I can't believe people are giving you shit for playing on an electric when this sounds so good!

Also your cover of Future Breed Machine is the best drum cover I've seen on youtube bar none.

    Ass kissing over.

  • fucking awesome... dont forget the dvd is out now!!! :)

  • Damn you Haskitt. Amazing job! This is Stu (from IUP) btw.

  • Stu! Thanks man... are you teaching school these days? Still playing kit? Someone mentioned Dillinger the other day and I thought of you and school street.

  • Man, you just nailed it!

I have a question about a TD4 kit - is it quiet enough (i mean cymbals and bass drum pad) to play in an apartment with whining neighbours?

  • If you mean that your neighbors are already whining, then no... the TD-4 isn't going to help that relationship! They're going to hear it, but in most cases it's a problem that can be worked around. visit the vdrums forum at vdrums[.]com/forum. Use the search engine to search "tennis ball drum riser" or neighbor complaints... etc.

  • I bet electric drum sets don't last long playing Meshuggah songs.

  • Actually, quite the contrary... they're tough! It's your hands you gotta worry about. Keep an eye out for a version of Future Breed Machine in the next 2 weeks.

  • Sweet. sounds great.

  • nailed it mate. Nailed it

  • brilliant

  • all i can say is OH MY GOD

    5 stars

  • Awesome job!!

Ive been playing Superior 2.0 with Metal Foundry (new one AWESOME!!!) on the Td-9 kit and the best we can get it is 0.1 second latency.

How are you able to play so damn tightly using Superior?

Again, great cover man, you nailed the shit out of it ^^

  • @WebsterA < You need to use ASIO, and if there are no ASIO drivers available for your soundcard you should get a new one, you want less then 15 ms latency for SD 2.0 to work good.

  • Very nice buddy, great work!

  • really good cover pal!

  • also how did you get double triggers on the toms? i read on some forum that only the high-end roland models offer position detection.

  • Thanks! Not positional sensing... rims/heads have 2 different triggers on many pads, including pd-8. I plugged the toms into the cymbal inputs, because the cymbal inputs can take a dual zone pads. So, the cymbals are single zone here. My drum kit has grown since then, but it worked great! Check out some of my new vids on my channel - I don't have any tutorial videos, but search "drumzgal mapping" and you'll get one.

  • and the kit is loud to downstairs neighbors because of kick pad. google "tennis ball drum riser" for a way to dampen the sound a bit. HD-1 is probably quieter, but the feel of the pedals isn't good.

  • hey man, thanks for the reply.

i am more concerned about upstairs because i live in the basement. do you think they might hear my doublebass? like how loud is it? could you do me a major favor and upload a short video playing on the td-4 powered off so i can hear how loud the kickpads in perticular sound.

also another thing about the connection to the pc. do i have to use a Firepod or can i go straight midi-out to usb?

does the sound come out of the PC or the e-drum?

    thanks for the help!

  • awesome performance man!

can you tell me how loud this drum set is? like can you hear the double bass machine or the snare drum in the next room?

im looking for a very quiet drumkit to practice on. do you think this is ok or should i better go for the hd-1?

also could you post a tutotial on how to connect the drumkit to the computer and how to set up the sounds using toontrack?

    thanks! :)

  • wow dude...good drumming :)

  • very nice!

  • what snare sound? please reply.

  • I'm using Toontrack Superior 2.2, one of the snare sounds from the Avatar kit... the GMS Maple/Ash 6.5"x14" pitched up 1.1

  • Oh ok thanks.

Where can I get such an Avatar kit?

  • i have the roland td4 too.

what snare sound you use? the sound is insane

  • This is a TD-4, but I'm not using the sounds from the module... see the above comment, thanks!

  • Good you like some swedish music :P

  • Fuggin' A

Beat the shit outta those skins, dood!

Nice job. Keep up the good work.

  • sold on superior 2.0 aha

shit sounds like perfect mic'd up drums

  • dam im sold on Toontrack Superior Drummer

  • awesome. no mistakes

  • Thats tight bro

  • Excellent job sir!

  • dude....teach me

  • Haha... you don't by any chance live near New Haven CT, do you? I just moved and am building up a new teaching schedule!

  • awesome

  • I can only say: GREAT!. Excellent tecnique and fabulous drums kit sounds. I wish you all the best.

  • hey i have a td-4, emu midi to usb interface, and addictive drummer

im waiting on some new DIMM cards to upgrade my PC's ram (so i can use the AD software)

i was wondering, do you cables labeled "TOM1, TOM2, and TOM3" to the corresponding pads? because these cables are mono and when playing on the TD-4 module, i cannot get rimshots like you have in this video

  • On this song I have tom 1 and tom 3 plugged into the crash input and the extra cymbal input, so they're dual zone. Makes the crash single zone (that's plugged into Tom1 input), but it's not a big deal for me to not have the tip sound on that crash.

  • are the cymbals and hihat chokeable?

  • GREAT MAN! What computer and interface are you using?

  • you got serious skills my friend!! I`m not often impressed but now I am!!! keep on drumming man, you´re awesome!!!

    cheers

    dima

  • hey haskitt...what soundcard are you using for playing? the firepod? or do you have something else? i'm using a presonus firebox for now but i'm told Native Instruments Audio Kontrol 1 is the best portable one out there... 24/192khz with two midi in ports

  • When I did this video, I was using the presonus firepod. I've since switched to only using a motu fastlane 2 in 3 out midi to usb interface (no audio) and I just monitor from the computer's 1/8" phone out. The firepod is closer to all my other recording gear so I use it as an audio interface. I don't know much about the Audio Kontrol, but the firepod is great... the AD/DA converters aren't amazing, but they're decent.

  • Я мягко говоря вахуе))

  • Hey there haskitt, I'm just getting into drumming, and I was wondering about something. I have a TD4 and was considering buying S2.0 If I just want to play, and not bother about recording, S2.0 is the only software I need, right?

  • Yep, that's all you'd need, though you'd need an interface too.

  • do you now any good recordong software cause i have a fully triggered drum kit that runs into a dm5. im am getting 2.0 soon though great program

  • If you're on PC, reaper is bare bones, cheap and sufficient. I'd suggest Cubase or Sonar if you have the money, and on MAC Logic is great.

  • thx for the reply dude...yea..i'm using FL studio 8 and 9 xxl but both of those DAW's won't map the variable hi hat control to what it should be...i'm only getting open closed and chik...i have cubase sx3 and sonar 4...will it work for those DAW's? just a little frustrated trying to figure it out...everything works well in Toontrack Solo tho...weird

  • are you using ezdrummer now? superior works great as a plugin in logic without any fancy cc4 settings. I had that problem in EZ too. The plugin just doesn't have the control. Someone gave me a mapped session from toontrack support that worked with logic. Don't know if they've done the same with Cubase or Sonar. Might want to check out the toontrack forums.

  • i have SD 2.0 and also have all the expansions plus ezdrummer and AD...yea...i'll have to check out the forums...haven't done that yet for this issue...egh...i know edrum monitor you can map ur own cc4 values...so i might try that...altho i heard that it would also support positional sensing.just don't wanna have to end up using another program to route my midi info......thanks for the advice haskitt..much appreciated...and you rock on the freakin' drums...i have some vids up to too...but i suck

  • Using a VST i can imagine, but my doubt is inside the TD-4 module actually.

  • Hey man, gratz on the cover. Tomas Haake style is unique indeed.

Can you answer a question about the TD-4?

I switched the tom1 cable with the crash1, but i cant get the module to trigger different sounds for center and rim of the pad. It does shows that "edge" and "bow" are being played trough the tom 1, but how do i set up distinct instruments for the pad?

    Sorry for my bad english

  • I'm pretty sure it's as simple as just going to the "instrument" menu and hitting center, then choose the instrument, then hit edge, and then choose the instrument. If that doesn't work, go to pad settings and try to set it as a different kind of pad. I'll check sometime today.

  • WOW!!! Great playing. Do "Bleed" please....

  • dang! you killed it! amazing man.

  • damn dude. you fuckin killed that! Nice!

  • dude for an eletronic set, that sounds amazing!

  • Smooth

  • Fucking great work. Solid timing is what's most important, and you don't falter at all.

  • although it's one of the easier Meshuggah songs to play, you've done a fantastic job. one of my fave songs ever and you nailed it from beginnig to end. utterly amazing. thanks and congratz.

  • Thanks! I'm aware of the meshuggah difficulty curve. :) I'm currently working on Future Breed Machine. The asskicking is SLOWLY turning from the song kicking mine to the opposite! Did I mention slowly?

  • how did you set the rims to chinas??? ???

  • I switched the crash cable with the mounted tom cable, so the mounted tom is a dual trigger... then it's an easy flip in the module or in software. Then I used the extra cymbal cable for the 2nd floor tom, leaving that tom cable as the "extra", so that one is dual zone too. I recently bought a TD-3 to use at the same time as the TD-4 though, and 3 new mesh pads, which makes all of this unnecessary!

  • ok awesome man! when i say this it just answered my questions! diggin the video bro..nice work..and i appreciate the help man! im going to have to remember all the considering the fact im only decent with electronics haha

  • Dude that was fucking awesome!!! im thinking of buying the TD-4k and im just curious can u add more cymbals and drum pads to it. How do record the drums???

  • You can add 1 more cymbal or drum pad to the TD-4, as there is 1 extra cable. If you're really good with electronics, you can split 1 or more of the dual zone pads into 2 single zone pads with a Keith Raper Circuit. Then you could add 1 extra pad for every dual zone you convert. Or for another $200 bucks or so you can buy a TD-3 and run it at the same time, which has many of the same sounds as the TD-4.

  • I record into a Motu fastlane usb midi interface intoP Logic Studio 8. In Logic, the midi recording triggers sounds from Toontrack Superior 2.0. I video it through my macbook simulatenously with iMovie, then sync up the video and music afterwards.

  • thx alot im gonna get the td-4 in a month so you-re using a presonous firpod right? i have a m-audio fast track pro so can i use that as a midi interface??

  • yeah, the fast track should work fine! I have a presonus firepod, but have lately just been using the motu fastlane because it's more convenient and my drums are pretty far from my rack with the presonus in it.

  • holy shit !!! that sounds fucking great

  • That was insanely good! Good call on using Tomas' kit from DFH! Sounds awesome! You nailed that shit to the floor!

  • I watch this everyday! weeee

  • Oh my god! What a fuckin great job man!!

  • dude, that was great... ive seen them since god knows how long ago but your way of blasting it was unique... why dont you get out of the closet and join my band? kinda dirty rock where im trying to force it to a percussion oriented way of it... myspace slash soundsnothing ....kinda lame there, have tons of new materials, just got the demo studio up and am about to start tracking all new stuff..... hit me back.... Olle

  • wow this is absolutely incredible! kudos to you!

  • Yeah awesome ! Gool groovy drumming !

I realy dont like electric kits, but yours sounds quite good, but try to play an accoustic drumset :)

  • Thanks man... unfortunately my apartment is made of cardboard and my beloved acoustic kit is packed in cases. I never liked e-kits until I heard all the great VST drum libraries that have come out. This little e-kit saved my drumming!

  • sounds quite good? it sounds FANTASTIC!!!!

People record with electric kit because they can make high quality sounds with short of budget without making the neighbor complains.

while on acoustic kit, you have to built a studio to get this sound quality and not disturbing neighbor.

  • you're a clown. try playing anything this guy just did on either acoustic or electric

  • truly a joy to watch, i'm guessing the td4 doesn't sounds anywhere near this good without toontrack superior?

  • yeah, the TD-4 sounds good enough to practice with IMO, but I'd never record with it. I actually just got a TD-3 and upgraded to mesh, kept the rubber pads too. TD-3 has a lot of the same samples as the 4.

  • It really is an uninformed individual who thinks you can't get great drum sounds with e-drums. Half the songs you hear today on the radio are recorded with roland v drums. If you don't know how to record properly not even the most expensive acoustic kick will save you. But if you know what you're doing the td-4 will give you excellent results in the studio.

  • lol what a silly thing to say. NOTHING you hear on the radio today was recorded with v drums, although midi is becoming a more useable alternative for the budget music maker. AND the td-4 is shit without some samples and excessive tweaking. You have to know your midi pretty good

  • @wesamess99 What's silly is that you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Omar Hakim, Neil Peart, Cester Thompson, ALL have gone on record saying they have recorded with VDrums, shut up and get a fucking life. I record with them all the time and no one has ever said I don't like that song because you recorded with Vdrums. You are ignorant to say the least.
