@123americangamer PS: Yea, in fact Oblivion practically forces you to use a long sword, 'cause a bow is useless in a deep narrow dungeon, axes and hammers are too slow and they don't offer any defense and magic reloads too slowly.

@domyinik I've actually found a bow to be quite useful in any environment. Combine it with sneaking and a good detect life spell and it's a win.

Add in a custom enchantment and it really packs a nice kick.

@MatthiosArcane The problem is that you must strike from distance, because if enemies manage to get close, you're meat unless you have a sword with you. Luckily, enemies are stupid and don't try and dodge arrows :-).

Probably I was a little prejudicial before... I guess that in the right hands a bow can work fine. But you must always carry a close combat weapon with you, or have decent Destruction skills to block enemies if they get close.

@domyinik Very true. I prefer skipping out on a sword and instead use fists. It comes in really handy when I'm exploring ruins: I have more weight to take more stuff without as many return trips.

Another idea I have (I haven't used this yet, this just occurred to me) is to use a conjured creature and be a sort of back up to them. They keep the monster distracted and you slowly etch away at their health.

It's all up to what each person is comfortable with, you know?

I'm so stoked for Skyrim. if you guys want to play an awesome quest in oblivion that explains a lot of history about an old war between Cyrodiil and Skyrim and about the Akaviri do the Lifting the Vale quest from Countess Carvain in Bruma it's really cool and you discover the closest location to Skyrim which is a pass the Akaviri used during the war to get to cyrodiil.
