Bonne continuation dans vos recherches de l'au-delà
I first heard music by The Orb when I was 8. My Dad, who was into a huge variety of music, had the U.F.OFF album on a tape in the car and we drove from the middle of the UK (Nottingham) to the south of France and back. This tape never left the car stereo.
After that, this tape came with me everywhere on my walkman. I remember being 9 and going on a school trip down some caves in England (the Treak Cliff Cavern...ie. the blue john mines) and having this as a soundtrack in my head.
I'd spend hours during long journeys in the car playing this....building alien landscapes in my head, populated by shapes whose form and movement was dictated by the sounds that elicit them. i still listen to these tracks today and still see the same shapes and places. wonderful music.
Its astonishing this album got to number 1 in the uk album charts back in the summer of 1992 and sold over 150.000 records in its first week. I cant think of any other artist in this whole genre of left-field electronic music who has ever done that before.
this track is spellbinding. i would advise anyone who loves their music to take acid, sit in a room an listen to this in the dark ........ it will blow your fuckin mind mofos!!!!!
TELL YOUR GUARDIANS-ANGELS-DEMONS TO PRAY WITH YOU HOLY MARY-ROSARY AND YOU WILL GET PROOF THAT OOBE IS DEMONIC AND IT WILL DESTROY YOU-YOUR ETERNAL SOUL!!!
My girlfriend (Helen T) heard this playing on radio 1 late one night and recorded part of it for me (on tape haha). I spent a while trying to find anything by them (no google) before receiving the album for a present of Hels mum..... I played this album EVERY night for YEARS to fall to sleep to..... Yes OOBE stands for out of body experience, it truly is when you listen to it. This was probably 20 years ago, Helen and I are no more but I still love this song, its OUR song.....
@h14nha That's nice. I used to lay on my bed looking out the skylight at the stars, listening to this. My parents were fighting downstairs, on the edge of divorce, but with The Orb, I was totally safe.
omg this tune brings back so many "of my face on acid" happy memorys i wud jus like to say the guy or guys who put this tune together an the album uf orb is a fuckin genius!!!!!
This really is one of the tracks defining and describing Ultraworld. I've been travelling around in that world many times in the past, it was wonderful...
This song reminds me of laying on the carpeted floor of a mansion in las vegas while the sun sets in the desert background, overlooking a bombed out and apocalyptic las vegas skyline?
WHOAH!! YES, now I do see them too!! They are in the foliage of the tree! It's now 0.49 am so I thought to try it again, and I saw them right away :-)
Now... do you guys see my Angel, satan, baby too??
I don't see those people, but I do see an Angel in the clouds to the right and the face of satan in the cloud on the left, at the end of the song they both are gone but at the place of the Angel is now the face of a baby..
Anyone see those?
How nice to see these things, huh? I think it reflects your inner being, like a mirror, kinda tells you where you are at the moment..
Something bizarre happened when I listened to this song, I think the combination of sound waves and frequencies hit some receptors in my brain, made me feel a little numb, felt like I was moving and some very brief, involuntary waves of colour behind my closed eyes. Only happened with one/two other songs ever.
This is escapism at it's very best. Just listened to the first album by the Orb yesterday and now onto the second.
Hate to state the obvious but O.K Computer is all about isolationism from capitalism and everyday life. Perfect to listen to if you feel out of touch with the real world.
I've been listening to this song for about 15 years or so and I still get a thrill every time I hear it. I'm a musician, and this song is still an inspiration! An experiment with acid was boosted with this song turned up loud!
@Krispaulsaenen for me the acid didnt help....i found that i never really needed the ohm for this song to be fully understood...in away in the right setting (like the dawn of late summer/early autumn and the right set of input's i.e. speakers or headphone's)would be all i needed to travel far...lol..after a heavy night this would be the perfect come down/outer-body experience i would and have ever needed.....now where is that mix of this...well better keep looking..thanks for posting history..

Yup, the consumerism, the alienation, the complete removal from what's real except for 'products', but especially all that glass, steel, fake marble, fake air, and space above you. In a crowd but isolated....
Yeah man. I JUST STARED IN MY REFRIDERATOR FOR FIVE MINUTES AND I NOTICED THINGS IVE NEVER NOTICED BEFORE. Sorry i had to say that, im high and drunk. Anyway, seriously though, I did an essay for college last quarter on the psychological stuff in advertising. Did you know some ads attmed to give you false memoies, like placing their product in a generic childhood experience. Wow I can type pretty good when i feel like cotton candy.
it took me 2 years to read this...I study marketing...the main word I say to people...a sugar - coned explotation
of human mind and behaviour...it all comes down to numbers my friends...for me I fight it every day, to know a enemy is finding a way to destroy it :)

Man, this gives me flashbacks. Orbs music was almost religious to me back in LSD dropping, mushroom eating days. Beautiful.

This track is beautiful, it reminds me in an odd way of the alienation I first felt when I went to the huge shopping mall in Milton Keynes

Do you mean by the consumerist atmosphere of a mall? If so, I definitely know what you mean, I live in the US.
