Coming back here brings me back to days when I thought the whole world was my friend.. n happy belated, Annette, keep smiling yer beautiful smile x(:dc
When jimmy went, " why? Because we like you." that made me feel really happy because pretty much nobody wants to be friends with me at my middle school because i like old disney, ALOT. Im gonna go around school and say Jimmys my friend! Along with the other mousekaters :)
Ah, this brings back such warm memories. While Walt's history & background may well have been less than "as pure as the white-driven snow" .. nonetheless, the over-riding theme & image that I remember about this TV series was its wholesomeness & the warm, fuzzy, feel-good feeling it generated.
@spareaxe Darlene is married to the philandering, mustang-killing John Ensign -- the only politician ever forced out of office by the FBI for disobeying the 6th commandment "Thou shalt not commit adultery". Ensign, from the great state of Nevada, where the human bodies keep piling up in response to the Despicable Spic Governor Brian Sandoval's pleasure in torturing and killing bears and mustangs and all creatures great and small -- Ensign is too stupid to know that he is sleeping with the enemy.
Just reading some of the comments and while most of them are nice some have something to be desired. My conclusion: Read a book about them before making assumptions, MS doesn't kill you (I have it, I would know), Walt Disney didn't have to fight to get Annette on the show. I am sure the negative comments come from those who are about 12 and sit faceless behind a computer screen and know nothing about television or life back then.
@beachX3baby2500 That's the way it was back then. What's wrong with a whle lotta white kids?I bet you don't have a problem with a whole lotta black kids or a whole lotta oriental kids,or a whole lotta indian kids.A whole lot of any kind a kids except white kids.
Through the years, we'll all be friends -- George Bernad Shaw's most famous quote is "Animals are my friends and I don't eat my friends". Exactly what J.C., Jesus Christ Jiminy Cricket taught all us loyal Mousketeers.

@FeelingJoyful This is the daily sign-off song and as such they've made it melancholy. Likely to induce a remorseful trauma so the little TeeVee viewers will watch again to get their PerkingUp Fix. I watched this from around age 9 and thought it was hammy & cheesy. For the most part I disliked organized top-down moralizing shows like this. It''s pure tripe but it does offer some insight into "the end of a private childhood" as one Disney critic stated.
gee whiz we were lucky as kids, actually growing up was fun as kids and this played its part as well, where has the time flown, and what the hell has happened.
Even though there were NO minorities in this series back then, I still loved it, and never stopped watching... Still wonderful memories in spite of it.. :)

@SnowflakeSparkles26 Mike Smith is listed as having died from "unknown causes" - which is often a code for drugs or suicide. Charley Laney is said to have died "unexpectedly" - which is another codeword. I did read that "One male Mouseketeer, despondent over the loss of a child, committed suicide." To me, that indicates Charley since Tim Rooney died from illness and Mike apparently did not have children.

@kellythesinger I could'nt agree with you more!!! Political correctness has destroyed American society today as we know it. Some people just seem to thrive on this stuff, and stir the pot with their ultimately stupid remarks. Pissing those off who were around when this language had'nt even been thought up or spoken yet because we did'nt need it then, and we don't need it now. it only stir's people up. Thanx for your post:):):):)
Things sure have changed!!!!! Today's kid's show's the majority, you can flush em all down the toilet ,their CRAP!!!!. This is but 1 of the american kids shows i grew up with and loved, and will never forget, EVER:):):):):) got those ears on??? LOL
I showed some of the clips to my dad and he got all misty eyed as he told me about how he would run and get his mouse ears and plop in front of the TV to watch this. I love that he can share memories like that with me and my brother.
I remember Disney showing late-night reruns of this show back in the late 90s into the new century...I always had the hots for Darlene. Karen always reminded me of Jan Brady, lol
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
They grow old and ugly...........I thought cheryl was beautiful, now shes and old freak with skin like plastic bag. I think Im going to get drunk.......
only hope you young folks have the same reaction from the next generation to things you are comfortable with.........in the meantime I guess you can just keep head banging
1952 kid, but Annette was bullied when she tried ordinary school, she had to leave. my parents were at war, I was an ordinary kid, and this show meant everything to me, a chance of escape in a dreadful real world. God bless them
yes, wonderful ,and wonderful memories of watching this in the late 1950's and the reruns that started in 1961 . Just keep in mind this is not how real kids acted in the 1950's and 1960's . We yelled back at our parents

To be completely honest,
I think this clip is really drab.
(Not because it's black and white)
The song is just so slow and they don't really look genuinly excited. Not to mention,
The first thing I thought when I watched this clip was that they all seem so fake.
Like all of them have their sweet little innocent 1950's smile on camera
But as soon as they call "Cut!" they are are rude and nasty. I got that vibe from Annette the most.

I showed some of the clips to my dad and he got all misty eyed as he told me about how he would run and get his mouse ears and plop in front of the TV to watch this. I love that he can share memories like that with me and my brother.

Disney is the EVIL EMPIRE!!! They saved Walt's brain and he still controls everything. Seriously, wasn't his head cryogenically frozen?

I remember Disney showing late-night reruns of this show back in the late 90s into the new century...I always had the hots for Darlene. Karen always reminded me of Jan Brady, lol
Those were the days....

1952 kid, but Annette was bullied when she tried ordinary school, she had to leave. my parents were at war, I was an ordinary kid, and this show meant everything to me, a chance of escape in a dreadful real world. God bless them

extra note; it was a wonderful show to escape bad family problems for some kids. Alot of parents had drinking problems in those days .

yes, wonderful ,and wonderful memories of watching this in the late 1950's and the reruns that started in 1961 . Just keep in mind this is not how real kids acted in the 1950's and 1960's . We yelled back at our parents
