  • Please be aware that anasthesia during surgery can cause dementia in older people. My wife had no signs of dementia when she fell and broke her leg in Jan.07. Shortly after surgery she began hallucinating and became agitated easily. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer. In Sept.08 she had a hip replacement. Same thing again only worse this time. Mood changes, easily angered. We were not warned by anyone that this might occur. Question your surgeon and anasthesiaologist before surgery. Do research.
